  1. They are stating they may still use with the move due to ease of transport across London. They did not know much about accommodation available in the new area yet at Spring course.
  2. The royal ballet school website has MDS calculator for you to work out your contributions. If you have other children you can deduct some money from your income.
  3. Dd1 currently doing their Spring Intensive (permission given to miss school). It is a high standard with lots of vocational/international students. It is for 14-16 year olds. Photos needed not DVD. They also do an autumn intensive so may be worth keeping in mind if summer school is not an option.
  4. This was us a couple of years ago. Dd1 did not get MDS but did get bursary. However, it was still going to be a struggle financially but we thought we could just make ends meet. My husband then got made redundant and we had to decline. Very hard for her but would have been worst if she had gone and then we would of had to remove her due to inability to pay. It is very hard when your dc wants it so much but you just cannot afford it. I hope it works out for you. Good luck to all.
  5. Kings International Ballet Academy Associates does ballet, contemporary and commercial jazz. Auditions are on the 28th April in Barwell. They have 9 classes a term. Ballet every week with either contemporary or jazz. 6 hour days.
  6. Really interesting reading these. I went to the very first Move It and remember the odd workshop and being able to talk to lots of schools as well as buy merchandise. I wanted to take DCs this year but due to my workload couldn’t. I felt guilty about this as I wanted DCs to experience it but maybe not so much now.
  7. 6 of Dd1’s friends entered YAGP (in Barcelona) and 1 is through to finals in New York and 3 others got scholarships to Bolshoi summer school. British students are entering although these were all Russian trained. We could not afford it. Competition itself is not too expensive but no heats in UK so need to factor in time and travel plus tutus and pointe shoes. There is now the launch of the British ballet Grand Prix which is more affordable but just starting out.
  8. I would suggest contacting them. Their boarding places can fill up quickly and they may now be at capacity. There will be people who would have confirmed their place after offers that do not need funding. If you discuss with them then they can tell you whether your Dd could get a boarding place. Good luck and congrats for the offer.
  9. If you look at the British ballet Grand Prix website there are lists of Male variations for each age category.
  10. Masters of ballet teach on Saturdays. Olga is a fabulous teacher. Lots of her girls are ja’s, she has some at WL too.
  11. There is one in Midlothian which teaches ISTD ballet and RAD vocationals http://www.southsidedance.co.uk/pdf/timetable-midlothian.pdf It is an hour’s drive from Glasgow. There are also vocational schools in Scotland which offer classes and teach RAD to a high standard.
  12. This year they had 15 year olds. The year before they had some 14 year olds.
  13. It states on linked in MA in performing arts from Hammon (note spelling). She was also President of IADMS so perhaps was a physio but her bio does not state this.
  14. We were Birmingham group 1 and had our result for WL-no. Good luck if you are still waiting.
  15. Enjoyed the finals. I really thought 119 would get through. She was a very confident and lovely lilac fairy.
  16. We received Birmingham group 1. This was years 10-11. We had a no and email stated 650 children had applied. Good luck to your dc.
  17. Hi Wiz, Where are you in the country? There are other Russian based schools. Presumably, you would be looking at LRBS when your son is 16 as their younger courses are after school? I can highly recommend Bristol Russian Ballet Easter and Summer Courses, if that is closer. Chika and Yuri could also discuss your son’s potential with you.
  18. The assessment emails come before the last term, if I remember rightly.
  19. We had a similar conversation recently with Arucaria ballerina worrying about her height (not sure I know how to link to prior threads). My Dd is 5ft and 14 so it is a concern. We were going to apply to some of the German schools but I then realised many German companies have min heights of 5ft 6-which she won’t reach. I am 5ft 2 on a good day. It has not stopped her being associate or being accepted to lower school but we are aware it will be harder to succeed. Good luck with future applications.
  20. We stayed at Premier Inn Holborn-about 25 minute walk via Covent Garden. Handy if you need to pick up last minute dance supplies. Farringdon is nearest-approx 10 minutes walk.
  21. My Dd may wear mascara and very light eyeshadow or none at all. She is 14-it does state make up for 15 year plus.
