  1. Hi Missy, I am not sure. The current associates have had their assessment results so there will usually be some movement.
  2. Are there any youth companies near you that the eldest could do? We have been in similar situation. There is only 2 years between my 2 dds. Dd2 always felt in shadow as Dd1 had more dance success. They recently auditioned for schools and everyone expected Dd1 to get a place. Dd2 got finals and Dd1 got a no. In the end Dd2 got a no too so not quite your situation but still a bit of a shock especially as Dd2 now known as more of a singer. Dd1 is in a youth ballet co which dd2 too young for so that softened it a bit.
  3. Hi Missy, it is usually by email. They are normally quick but have auditions next week too. You should hear within 10 days though, hopefully sooner. Classes tend to consist of around 16-20.
  4. Hi Willow, Care work could be an option if you are over 18. The hours can be as flexible as you want and there is usually work available. Hospitals will usually require NVQ2 but nursing and residential homes will usually take on beginners. Pay varies between minimum wage up to £14 per hour for some agencies. Failing that dog walking or dog sitting could be a good summer job. Providing you like dogs.
  5. Dd2 still struggles with bun. Hers often fall out. If I cannot do it then she puts in a pony tail and then uses a big clip to put it in a chignon. Hair neat for class. Ballet teachers are aware my husband is not very good with buns.
  6. Roch Valley do nice pink satin shoes. Good luck for the exam.
  7. Yes call them after Easter and they should then be able to tell you where you are on the list. Good luck to all of you waiting.🤞
  8. That is different then last year. Does the letter ask you to phone about funding? It is usually during this call they inform you. Perhaps it is different this year.
  9. Hammond will tell you where you are on list and how likely you may still get MDS. 50% is usually the maximum bursary.
  10. Dds have to wear them for exams- Russian and RAD grades (luckily majors are demi pointes). They do look pretty but both prefer to wear canvas now.
  11. I would also recommend Ballet Cymru. They are very approachable and accommodating. BRB regularly do workshops so may be willing. They came to Cardiff on Friday but only 8 girls did the senior workshop which was just under £20 each. They were performing Sleeping Beauty there and offered workshops as part of this.(more girls in lower groups). Could you get any funding from the University to help pay? Does the University have a theatre? Ours does and companies use it to perform so could also be approached to do a workshop.
  12. Last year 29 yr 7 and 8 attended funding but a total of 50 on the list including 9 & 10.
  13. Yes but could be a good course for candidates of 16 not ready for degree/diploma courses.
  14. Urdang are now offering a level 3 dance course. It is free for everyone studying at level 3 (A level/ BTEC ) for first time.
  15. Yes, I am speaking with the Hammond Monday so will find out whether it is an issue. Will then get them referred if needed.
  16. Thanks Sarah. It is the first time anyone has said Dd1 is hyper mobile. I may need to get her and Dd2 assessed further. I will check with associates teacher as she also teaches Pilates.
  17. No she got the place for yr8. It was for yr9 this time. We do know the class is fairly full as last year if she had gone there would have been 2 yr 8 classes.
  18. Congrats on the place. Not everyone gets a place. Dd1 had place with bursary last year but due to personal circs could not accept. This time she was not accepted. It is confusing as she has matured well over last yr in dance. The physio did say she has hyper mobile joints so I wonder if this could be the issue? It has never caused her any issues.
  19. It should be fine. In the lower Elmhurst associates lots are also Jas so Elmhurst are used to seeing dancers in the J.A. tracksuit.
  20. Hi Sunrise, Yes that would be comparable. ISTD have 6 grades compared to 8 in RAD. Contact the school and see if they are happy.
  21. Sounds great. We could do with a regional centre in Wales if you did extend. The first ever ballet boarding school in Wales was meant to open 2 years ago but never did due to funding.😪 Good luck with the new venture.
  22. I read it as a guest. Training in US is very different and so posters over there may not always appreciate how we tend to train here. Anyway there is a very good discussion on there regarding Princesse Grace in Monaco.
  23. I was posting same time as Anna but hopefully we gave you some options.
