  1. Don't worry a few of us have had similar feedback. You don't know how they will change over the coming years.
  2. Well done Butterfly Ballerina. The schools really scrutinise proportions. They like long legs and short torso. Dd1 has been told she has a longish torso and they hope this changes as she grows. You don't say whether it was positive or negative but they must rate your dc to offer them a place.
  3. When dd did EYB there was a room parents could wait but it was separate to the dance studios. I dropped her off and collected her later.
  4. Ideally you need to hold an enhanced portable dbs. This is £12 extra but creates an online link for different organisations to run checks on you. It gets regularly updated. Individuals can apply for a basic disclosure from dbs central and that includes self employed. Organisations and licensing bodies are the only ones that can apply for enhanced. The information and links are on Gov.co.uk
  5. Hi Arucaria, You could explain to your teacher you need to do more. It is a different syllabus so there is no conflict of interest. Sorry you did not get Elmhurst. Have you considered full time at Moorlands? They may offer a bursary.
  6. Dd2 has very flexible back and arms but struggles with splits whereas Dd1 can do all splits but has a tight back. Flexibility can be worked on so I would not worry.
  7. Thanks Legseleven, will keep a look out. Arucaria, they do sometimes offer Mds for yr10.
  8. Good luck for Royal, Balletnewbie. Sorry to hear you got a no for Elmhurst but onwards and upwards.
  9. Sounds interesting but dd1 auditioned already this year. I suppose if they wanted her to audition again they would contact us?
  10. Dd2 got a no so upset for her. How did you get on balletnewbie? We heard they are only taking a small number this year.
  11. Dd2 was auditioning for yr6 Birmingham and hers was 11-12. Looks like very long odds if there was another yr6 group. There was 34 in her class.
  12. Sending hugs to you and your son. It is hard to hear when dc upset. Unfortunately the ballet world does tend to attract some egotistical teachers. Consider changing schools. Dd's friend also was at top school and assessed out. They have now changed and are much happier. She feels she is now progressing.
  13. Dd2 enjoyed Birmingham audition today. No merchandise for sale though. She was hoping to get a hoodie but never mind, it saved me money.
  14. Which year group are you applying for Arucaria? It will depend on your year group and then group they allocate you to. Dd, for example, applying for yr6 and in grp2 so has to be there at 2pm.
  15. Cecchetti associates may take up to 18. They have a Northern division. You could always ask the school what they recommend.
  16. She could always be Mona the vampire which was a cartoon. However, recent festival we attended was very focused on age appropriateness. The adjudicator seemed to say it constantly for under 12s.
  17. Send off for Elmhurst as soon as you can. Audition is May 13th, times are being confirmed for years 5,6,7 &8. May 20th for yr 4 & 9+. Regional dates are later. They had merchandise at Bath and that is a fairly small centre. Bought dd1 a hoodie and rucksack. She still uses rucksack for school. Cost was reasonable but can't remember exact prices.
  18. For certain incomes the Mds could be viewed as 100% scholarship so perhaps this is what they meant?
  19. Dd2 auditioning for yr6 Birmingham. She did not want to do it before. Always been dd1 but dd2 now starting to really enjoy ballet.
  20. If was pre elementary and used to have maximum age of 15.
  21. Hi Lema, Did not realise 53 on reserve as only 29 at funding. Must be a fair few yrs9+. I think you are correct in saying there will not be much movement at all. Hoping I win the Lottery now.
