  1. This may be a bit early but we are very excited that DS is doing this! Based on the main thread there are at least two others on here who are doing it. It will be great to be in touch especially as we aren’t able to make the casting day.
  2. Does anyone know what the parts are for juniors and seniors in swan Lake ? i have several pupils at casting day today . I’d like to be able to tell them a bit about their parts ! Presume seniors are swans ! Thank you
  3. Hi, I am trying to find out more info about English Youth Ballet as I keep reading about it on here but I can't find much info on their website. Can anyone please explain? Is it a weekly class or do you just do a set number of classes then 1 performance? If a set number roughly how long does it last and how many classes are there? What day is it usually on? Would it clash with Saturday associate classes? Thanks in advance!
  4. Hello, Does anyone know if you drop and run for the EYB casting day and photo shoot, or do parent's stay given it is the first session with EYB? Thanks
  5. Hello, would love to hear from anyone who has been involved with an EYB Coppelia production. Can see from previous posts that Swanhilda’s Friends are in 3 acts but can anyone tell me what the role entails for the Coppelia doll? Many thanks.
  6. Hi all - I'm seeking an English Youth Ballet T-shirt(s) in a size small if anyone has one/any they are looking to sell? Black or Blue preferably, but would accept Pink. Their stock seems to be low and it was mentioned that it would be a few weeks off before they have any more in, and my dancer would like one desperately! Thank you! x
  7. Anyone doing the Buxton audition this evening? We had to submit ours via dvd as not available but just wanted to say good 🍀 luck
  8. So new EYB dates are out I'm so happy that one of them is near enough to me that I can audition! P.S. Does anybody know what the auditions (particularly the senior auditions) entail? I know it is just a class, but 1h 45 mins is quite a long class. I can imagine it would be very busy! 9. For any kids taking part, Miss Lewis offers a private assessment for those considering vocational training. It's done one to one with a written report at the end for a reasonable fee. She's incredibly honest and will tell you if it's worth spending time and money to persue it. My DD was a little nervous before hers but she really put her at ease. For us it was definitely worth the money.
  10. Hi can anyone give me a heads up? My daughter has developed a love of ballet, shes been dancing for nearly 3 years and managed to achieve a distinction in both her pre primary and primary exams. For her to be able to gain more experience her teacher suggested she should audition for EYB (they are performing on our doorstep). Ive put the application in, but so nervous for her as this is the first time shes done anything like this 😣 Could anyone let me know their experience with them, what sort of things do they get them to do in the audition (dd is currently working on grade 1 atm so is still imature in that sense), do you know straight away if you have been successful? Tia xx
  11. Hi my DD is doing Coppélia with EYB at Rickmansworth and the casting audition is on Tuesday. Does anyone know what to expect as she’s quite nervous. Also do any of you know what parts she may get? She just turned 15, is on pointe and she’s 5’3/5’4. Thanks! Xx
  12. I wonder if anyone can let me know what happens at the EYB casting day. I have read the other threads and can't find the answer to my specific question so thought I would start a new one I hope that is OK? DD got through the audition which I watched along with the other parents. The casting takes longer than the audition and runs from 4pm-8pm and I wondered if parents are expected to stay during that time to watch the proceedings or whether the expectation is that parents drop dancer off and then leave? Thank you
  13. Reading through different threads I have come across auditions for both London Children's Ballet and English Youth Ballet. Could someone please help me understand what the difference is between the two?
  14. Is there anyone out there whose dd has been cast as a lady in waiting and Hungarian dancer in the past? Was secretly hoping for a tutu wearing number but this seems doubtful. More likely heavy shoes I would have thought. Oh well. She came out smiling so that's the main thing!
  15. There are some new audition dates on their website. They're coming back to Aylesbury next year which is good news for us!
  16. My DD is considering auditioning for the senior audition age group for the first time but would not know anyone else auditioning. Has anyone had a DC who was in this situation and selected and if so how did they got on when rehearsals started? Were they ok or did most other DC know each other? Also, DD only does about 15mins pointe a week so would she still be considered for a pointe part as I am not sure if her feet would cope but I expect they could tell at casting if her feet looked strong enough or not for a pointe part wouldn't they? (obviously I realise she may not get that far)!
  17. Hello all, Gathering together all the previous EYB threads it occurred to me that we often get asked the same sorts of questions about EYB, so I thought I would post links all together in one thread. If you have questions about English Youth Ballet, please browse through the linked threads first, as there is a strong chance your question may already have been answered there. If it hasn't - ask away! :-) Kind regards, Spanner Previous EYB threads: http://www.balletcoforum.com/index.php?/topic/3898-english-youth-ballet/ http://www.balletcoforum.com/index.php?/topic/2765-english-youth-ballet/ http://www.balletcoforum.com/index.php?/topic/2674-english-youth-ballet-rehearsal-times/ http://www.balletcoforum.com/index.php?/topic/2348-english-youth-ballet-senior-audition/ http://www.balletcoforum.com/index.php?/topic/509-english-youth-ballet-auditions/ http://www.balletcoforum.com/index.php?/topic/197-eyb-productions/#entry1947 http://www.balletcoforum.com/index.php?/topic/4194-eyb-in-2014-when-and-where/#entry51080 http://www.balletcoforum.com/index.php?/topic/1566-english-youth-ballet-nottingham/
  18. Can someone remind me please - you can turn up and register on the day for EYB auditions can't you? I forgot to send the form off and the audition is on Monday.
  19. Just wanted to say a huge congratulations to everybody involved. There was such a huge array of talent on that stage. Fabulous experience for the dancers. Well done.
  20. Very excited to get an email this morning to say that my daughter has a place on this (she's 13). Any top tips, thoughts from people with previous experience would be really welcome. It seems to be very intense for September (rightly, the performance is in October!!). We will have to take more time off school than it suggests as we are coming from Northamptonshire. Is anyone else travelling a bit for this? Also on the weekends of the rehearsals will it be okay to miss mid-associates or should we bust a gut to do both? I'm really excited about this, I hope it is fun!!
  21. First dates are on the website!! So far, its Preston in March, audition November 3rd, ballet Giselle, and Torquay in April, audition November24th, ballet Coppelia. Hopefully the rest will follow soon. DD is keen to audition for Preston as she hasn't done Giselle before, but we will defer a decision til the whole list is out.
  22. Has anyone's dancing children done the EYB Nutcracker ....just wondering what dances there are in Act Two.
  23. My DD auditioned for EYB in Torquay this afternoon. She had a great experience but didn't get offered a place. She is on the reserve list - does anyone know if we can find out where she is on the list? And in anyone else's experience, what is the likelihood of her being offered a place subsequently? Thank you ????
  24. Just thought it might be fun to start a little thread about this show from the "doing it" perspective, as I know that some here are involved in it, either as parents or dancers. So who should we look out for and give a big-ballet-forum wave to? ;-) To kick things off, my DDs are the Duchess and a guest. Apparently the most coveted roles are the jewels - and a school friend of DD1 is one of them. Anyone else got sore feet after so much pointework? DD2 has only just started intermediate and so only does about 15 mins/week on pointe and all of that at the barre. So all this centre stuff is extremely challenging. There apparently some Polonaise or something they're doing where it's looking decidedly ropey - but there's still plenty of time to get the hang of it, right?! They're both finding the other girls (sad it is nearly all girls) very friendly, so a good experience so far, despite the aches...
  25. I took my daughter to the audition for this on Tuesday and we were delighted when she got a place. She turned 9 2 weeks ago, its our first time doing anything like this. Looking forward to it!
