  1. Is there anyone who is in the same boat with their DC about to start the journey of applying to vocational training for September 2023? Trying to read previous posts and websites to gain as much info as possible but there is so much to think about! There is a thread for 2022 that was very helpful so thought I would start one for 2023.

  3. Hello Everyone, Here's what I have on offer for the Autumn term 2022 and beyond! 1) On Fridays I have an online (and live if you live near enough to Highbury North London!) young vocational class and pointe work coaching class. (10 - 14 yrs) The term is 12 weeks in length and commences Friday 16th September. 2) I have private/semi private coaching classes throughout the day on both Saturdays and Sundays. Classes can be taken for 1 hour, 90 minutes or 2 hours and are bespoke for each students individual needs. Priority is given to students who are signing up for a regular slot but I keep some lessons free for less frequent requests! These classes can be taken online or live. The classes are open to vocational students who wish to enhance their training; pre-vocational students who are preparing for auditions over the coming year and professional dancers wishing for a technique boost! (There is a small amount of availability during week days and evenings too) 3) I have non-vocational ballet and jazz classes for teenagers and young adults who love to dance but are taking it recreationally rather than vocationally. These classes are held in Highbury North London. These are super fun and a great workout for young people! Please feel free to email me sarah@sarahtoner.co.uk or DM me on Instagram sarahtoner45 for more information or a chat about how I can help! I don't post much but I a still around Love and best wishes, Sarah xxx

  5. Hello My DD has recently shown me this and I wondered if it was worth sharing on here, http://www.russianballetinternational.com/auditions/auditions-cities/leicester-2/
  6. Hi guys, After having a talk with my Dad today about money and how much the next three years of my degree are going to cost I am left with the worry of where I'm going to find the money to pay for it all. I will have the fees and maintenance loan but that doesn't cover all the costs that I will face and my parents aren't going to be able to pay for it all as money is very tight at the moment, this means that I need to find the money myself. I currently don't have a job due to having dance so many days a week including A Level all day on a Saturday and allowing myself time to work on my A Levels. I would like to find a way of earning money to pay for the costs related to my course but I don't know what to do. I won't be able to have a job when I'm at school as I'm going to Ballet West so there isn't anything around their to get a job with. Basically, I need advice on how to earn the money and if there is any way that you think I can be earning whilst studying. It's getting to the point now when I'm really panicking about what I'm going to do. Thanks and I hope that the responses will also be useful to others on here starting or at Upper School.
  7. Hi everyone My DD attends normal school at the moment and takes dance after school - she’s year 10 at the moment. She’s very keen to attend a vocational school for sixth form - but me and DH have agreed that A Levels still have happen! We’ve all agreed that Tring Park is probably the best option (although we’re open to others) and I was hoping people could share their experiences of life at tring, specifically the environment and the 6th form dance course. Thanks!
  8. Hi, DS has decided he will audition for vocational school after all even though he knows his chances are very slim. One thing that is flummoxing us though is a one minute solo! One, music is really difficult to source. DS would like something slow but funky. Then two, choreography. Now in my time I’ve danced a fair bit but not sure what they are looking for in this part. Obviously you’d want to show off your best moves, but what if he goes blank mid way through?? My house is tiny, may have to choreograph in the garden! Any words of wisdom?? The thingy reasoning test looks like a Mensa IQ test too! 🙈🙈 Lol!! long road ahead, me thinks!! 🤞🤞🤞 xx
  9. Hi Mums and dancers, Wondering if you can help my son and me? DS has been dancing for two years with his local school and now needs more. He has 3, 45 minute classes a week and never stops at home, in Asda, on the bus etc etc! Last academic year he just missed out on Elmhurst and RBS Associates. This year he is too old for RBS JA’s! What else can he do? His current school have a showcase this year so haven’t had a syllabus class all year. Been in touch with s The Hammond who say their boys day of dance is over subscribed. EYB is too far away to be do able. How do you nurture a talent when you have money but no outlet for your DS to pursue his dream. Feeling a bit stuck! S xx
  10. Dear ballet lovers, we only have 2 places left on our 2nd Principal week. ( the 1st is sold out). As always their are only ever 12 places. So we can offer exceptional care as well as tuition. Anita Young F.I.S.T.D A world renown teacher who currently teaches 1st year girls at RBS upper school Ricardo Cervera Ballet Master of the Royal Ballet Olivia Cowley Soloist of the Royal Ballet. Our aim is to inject positivity and encourage young dancers to be the best they can be. We help inspire and guide the next generation of dancers. Last but not least its Summer School and some fun must be had so we visit the theatre in a limo and have a photo shoot. Thanks for reading Kindest Regards Nicola Moriarty
  11. Hi all, long time no speak! I've just started studying Dance at De Montfort Uni in Leicester (after much struggle and debate discussed in previous posts from the last year) and I'm enjoying it so far (I literally only started on Monday). But although I'm in every day and have a practical class every day, most of my days finish at around 1pm, and then I don't know what to do with myself for the rest of it! I've been to dance society tasters this week however most of these are designed for people who aren't typically dancers and just want to keep it as a hobby; this also costs a certain amount to join and go to each class and is not lead by dance professionals but by current students. When I accepted my uni place my original plan was always to reapply for vocational after my first year, but obviously I'd need to start applying and thinking about auditions now or in the next couple of months, and I don't know if I can put myself through that again? It was such an emotional rollercoaster the first time around! Basically what I'm saying is, I'm considering reapplying for vocational training because I'm not convinced I'm going to get enough practical hours in here at uni, without going to find another dance school and paying for evening classes (something I am looking into). Any advice? Thanks!
  12. Hello! I'm new here so not quite sure if I'm actually in the right place and I've seen a similar thread but thought it might be easier to start afresh... Just wondering if anyone has had any experience of the senior vocational training at LRBS? Thinking about auditioning but still just looking into it. I've heard lots of mixed reviews... Has anyone had experience of moving from RAD syllabus to Russian? From as far as I can tell it seems quite different and for someone who has trained in purely the RAD syllabus would it be possible to adjust to Russian (or just a waste of training time which could be spent developing further in RAD styles ?) - this is all speculating whether I would even get in haha! More out of curiosity rather than thinking too seriously at the minute I suppose. Anyway, please do let me know of any experiences with their upper school! I can only seem to find more about their adult classes and junior training
  13. Hello all, Did any one attend the Central sixth form auditions? Any outcomes? Got my letter today in the post and a 'yes' for finals. Very happy. Anyone else audition there? LB x
