  1. Posts which identify specific pupils are not allowed.
  2. We were told at the audition that most of the letters offered day places but not to worry because usually everyone who needed a boarding place was able to be accommodated. Everyone I’ve spoken to with an offer has had a day place offer not boarding.
  3. Elmhurst young dancers receive a written report once a year and the teacher is happy to speak to us whenever we want about progress.
  4. Learning to ignore the competitive stretching is an important part of audition prep!
  5. My daughter was one of the lucky girls to be given the pointe shoes from her feet and meeting her is something she will never forget and so inspirational for her as a young dancer. Such a shame Vadim didn’t make it out and we’ll have to return another time 😉
  6. Current year 9 has 8 or 9 boys, 2 of which are day pupils. It is very much done on what beds they have though, not how many in particular year groups, and the boys house is full at present. The current year 10 has 9 boys who will probably be moving out of the ‘boys’ house and so will free up those beds for whichever boys they take. Sometimes the year 7 boys are in with the year 7 girls in a different house if it’s a small year group. Basically, it’s anyone’s guess!! 😂
  7. Those of you who wait at ROH, how long generally do you wait? My 11yr old daughter is desperate to wait after we see DQ next week, but I have visions of her falling asleep standing up!!
  8. We have a y7 offer of a place but no funding final, so it’ll be a no for us this year! Good luck all those with another audition to go!
  9. I think it will be next week. I got the impression they weren’t in a hurry!
  10. Yes, we were there yesterday and agree with this! Makes a nice change from the many Costas I sit in! Dd very much enjoyed herself, even if the ‘presentation’ and tour was a little chaotic.
  11. It’s unlikely that any young person will have only one career in their lifetime these days, most will have at least three I think the research says. Ballet, as a dancer, may be limited but I imagine most professional dancers who want to, stay in the ballet world in some way in a range of different careers. Our dc are going to be working for a very long time. I’m giving mine the chance to do something they adore and are passionate about, for at least part of their life.
  12. DS wears so danca SD16 and he’s size 10 so they go fairly large!
  13. I did this for my dd last year, nutcracker doll had the tickets tied on a ribbon around his neck.
  14. Freed are the only ones that fit my dd’s narrow feet, everything else is far too wide.
  15. I think some personalities can find ballet ‘boring’. It seems to appeal to those who like the attention to detail, precision and repetition and not to those who prefer their classes to move at a faster pace. I would let her do what she enjoys at this age. You might find she misses it and wants to go back after a break.
  16. I have QTS but did my degree is in Education so I don’t have a PGCE.
  17. However I would have thought that the vast majority of white lodge pupils would audition for US and not many would turn it down if offered?
  18. Dancing Boutique will be able to tell you, if you give them a ring.
  19. Nike Roshe are the trainers/shoes of choice amongst my physio friends.
  20. Current Ballet West associated have had emails this morning with the results. Hopefully everyone should hear soon.
  21. Shocking news, and devestating for his wife and daughter, as well as the many students and staff at school who are understandably so sad today.
  22. We had an email saying after the last session of the current associates which is next Sunday, so I expect the 19th is fairly accurate.
