taxi4ballet
I believe the vocational schools are well-used to people coming from overseas where academic qualifications are different, so I'm sure they will have procedures in place for those students. As others say though, the schools generally don't assess out at the end of Y10, but there will sometimes be places freed up when people have left for other reasons. dramascientist
Hi Sam, we also live abroad and my DD auditioned at Tring Park for year 11and was offered a place. Unfortunately because living abroad she did not qualify for MDS she could not take it up, she applied a year later because she did qualify for DADAs and was again offered a place, so it is possible. Hope this helps DRSC

Sam
Thank you very much for your advice. Of course she would continue to study her Bac on-line, which is very common in France
Dreamy11
Hi, can anyone tell me the format for elmhurst auditions including start and end times please and what classes the children have to do? Do they get split in year groups or kept all as one. Thanks Edited September 22, 2015 by balletqueen
sarahw
Elmhurst is a ballet class of about 90 mins. Parents get to watch the last 5 mins. Parents have a talk from head and school tour. They are grouped by age more or less. It's all very friendly.
Dreamy11
Thanks Sarah, just wondering how early it starts and if need to stay night before etc?
neil
I have booked a Premier Inn for the night before. It was £35 for 1 adult and 1 child inc free parking. We are about 3 hrs from Birmingham so would have had to leave very early and risk traffic issues etc. Edited September 22, 2015 by neil

sarahw
Sorry - they do several each day - at least 3 a day I think.

Sarahzip123
Does anyone know if there is a deadline date for application for Elmhurst?
neil
There doesn't seem to be a deadline as such, but they (and Tring) reportedly fill up the audition dates as they receive the applications. I don't know what happens if they fill all the available audition slots.
taxi4ballet
I don't know what happens if they fill all the available audition slots. If they are inundated, they sometimes schedule additional audition dates.

southerndancemum
Does anyone know what size prints the photographs should be and when it says passport photo do they mean an actual 'passport photo' as in not smiling etc or just a passport sized photo of head and shoulders? Thanks
swanprincess
I think the photographs should be 6x4 (postcard size) and just a passport sized photo
neil
We did 6x4 as they were the cheapest from photobox, and added a passport photo we had knocking around at the back of the drawer. Perhaps we haven't put enough effort into this...!
Gowiththeflo
We did 6x4 photos, and cropped a passport sized photo just of head & shoulders, from a larger photo, so that Dd looked like herself, rather than a miserable old trout! ( as she does in her passport photo.....) ☺️

Mae989
Once they are filled they turn people away. As some of the JAs found out last year!
Gowiththeflo
After a bit of advice re audition photos, please.... (MA/WL/SS) . Have done Dd's photos, and am really pleased with them, but in one pose, number 4- arabesque- we have 2 photos to choose from. In one, her top half is better than the bottom, and in the other, her bottom half is better than top!! Both photos are great overall , what i'm wondering is can i send both versions in? Or which one would your experienced hive mind suggest would be the better........ ? Oh, and to add, Dd prefers one, I prefer the other. And current time restrictions mean i can't really ask dd's teacher for advice. Thanking you in advance! ????
Lema
Gowiththeflo I would just pick whichever one you prefer, my DD's JA teacher told us that it really isn't a big deal and parents get too worked up over the photos, and they are just a point of reference when discussing auditionees after the audition, to help them remember the child, so on this advice I took my dd's photos in my living room on my own without help of a teacher to position her (and I have no dance experience what so ever) and my dd auditioned at 3 of the top 4 schools and was offered finals for all 3 and a place at 1 of the school, so I honestly think that as long as they are a fair representation of the child then it doesn't really matter.....SS photos maybe a little more important being as they don't audition though. Anyway this is just my opinion and experience but hope it helps ????
Gowiththeflo
Thanks Lema- I know they're not *that* important ????!! , I was just wondering , generally, which were better.... Nicer arms & head, or legs & feet! Thanks for taking the time to reply. ???? Oh, and well done to your Dd, she's clearly very talented! ???? Lema
Thank you gowiththeflo and if it were me I would go with legs and feet, but that's just me and I know nothing about dance lol good look deciding ????
amos73
I'd say legs and feet too! IT seems to be what they are preoccupied with at auditions!

Gowiththeflo
Thank you all. Legs & feet is dd's favourite , and i suppose she knows more than me, so that's what we'll go for! Audition fever strikes again!! Fingers crossed! Thanks ????

Zacharovitti
Hy mums (and dads), my DD is going to apply at RBS for both WL fulltime training and SS. Do you know if I have to send two separate application forms, with two sets of (identical) photos and pay two applications fees? Or can I do just one for both? Thank you in advance!
