According to a ROH brochure, it will be held this year on 4th October, 2016 (Tuesday). The brochure gives a URL of www.worldballet.com, but I believe the correct URL is http://www.worldballetday.com, where you can sign up for email updates.

I'll drop ROH a line to ask if they could please check which events will remain online and for how long after the live streaming, for those of us who unfortunately won't be able to spend the whole day watching ballet...

Good news: I just heard back from ROH that the entire stream will be on YouTube as soon as they have finished streaming and will be available for 30 days in total. Afterwards, they will upload a few sections of the day, but they will not know which ones these will be until they have been filmed on 4th October.

Hm.... This says that highlights will be available after the event on Youtube. When I'd asked the ROH earlier, they had said that the entire event will be available online for 30 days. I do hope this will still be the case... will ask.

Good news: There's a reply on the site saying: The full recording will be available on YouTube for you to catch up and we'll also be sharing selected highlights from the day.

Hope the highlights are on You Tube seeing as this is clashes with the Australian Ballet cinema screening of Sleeping Beauty - bad planning on one or others part!

They have confirmed that the entire broadcast will be available for a while afterwards.

I will also need to make use of this as I will unfortunately/fortunately be at the RBS Friends White Lodge Open Day during the RB slot. (NB: Anyone else who will be at the WL Open Day and who wants to share a ride from around the Manchester/northern area early on the Tuesday morning please send me a PM asap - thanks.)

Just so as not to be too parochial :):

Australian Ballet:

Bolshoi Ballet:

http://worldballetday.com/session/bolshoi-ballet/

National Ballet of Canada:

San Francisco Ballet:

http://worldballetday.com/session/san-francisco-ballet/

I hope the first two will have supplied more details by Tuesday.  The NBC programme sounds tempting, but I've just realised that I'm not sure I'll be able to watch any of it for technical reasons.  Might have to nip down to the library - all day :(

Also the Royal Danish Ballet is showing a half-hour session on its Facebook page from 1.45 to 2.15 (London time) - a rehearsal of their new production of Giselle, with Albrechts Ulrik Birkkjaer and Andreas Kaas.

Having spent half an hour trying to work it out, please could someone tell this lumbering technosaurus how I can watch the day live on my tablet, in words of one syllable! The youtube catch up I think even I can do.

Thanks Janet, can't wait! Hee hee 3am! Will we get to see members of the Royal Ballet snoring gently in their beds? :D

I've had an email from BRB, who are also involved:

World Ballet Day: 4 October
Tomorrow is World Ballet Day and we are very pleased to be taking part. The UK broadcast takes place from 11am BST via the Royal Opera House Facebook page. We've produced a short film about the making of The Tempest which will be shown at around 2.30pm (and on our own website from 3pm). We will also be broadcasting using Facebook Live on our own page at around 1.50pm - join Céline Gittens and other members of the Company

Glad to see that other companies are getting involved but the notion of their having segments within the time slot of a 'host' company has now gone out of the window and there are several scheduling clashes - e.g. RB and ENB both in Class between 11.00 and 11.30 am. I know that clips can be viewed later but its' all a bit confusing.

From 1.15 to 1.45 UK time we will have the pleasure of watching Yasmine Naghdi and Matthew Ball rehearsing the pdd from Act 3 of Sleeping Beauty, prior to their debuts.  Afterwards, they will be talking to Kirsten McNally.

Can't wait....

Do you think this will also be available later on YouTube ....as travelling up to London about that time!!! (No wifi on southern trains as yet!!)

At least they have power sockets, which is more than Southeastern do (and most of South West Trains, now I come to think of it - I nearly ran out of battery on a recent long-distance trip)

Yes, Lin...I will also have to watch later. You will be able to watch it on the ROH website, and on YouTube. Some posts above refer to the options we have. Happy viewing!

If anyone else is having problems streaming the live video on www.worldballetday.com, the video streams much better on Facebook. Great to see how much world ballet day has grown to include so many companies, but I'm rather biased and mostly looking forward to watching the Royal!

Thanks to our lovely admin AnnaC who put me on to this site after the ROH feed kept jamming. If there is such a thing as reincarnation, I'm coming back as a dancer- a proper one, not a hobby dancer.

I just tried on FB but after about three minutes it stopped and a message came up saying it was having trouble playing the video.  Gggrrrr.  I just hope that my day isn't going to be like this!  It might be my tired old laptop, so will try on the desktop computer a bit later.

Well, thus far, watching on the Facebook site, I've only got the little circle going round and round and round and round ...
