  1. My dd has many friends from the EU who have gone on to accept jobs with U.S. companies. They don't seem to have a problem with the visa when the company is backing them up. Wish I had more info but thought that would shed a little light on the situation.
  2. I have a friend whose daughter was offered a spot as a trainee while at a DNB audition. Why would Mr. Brandson still be placing kids into the trainee program vs. academy?
  3. The John Cranko Schule in Stuttgart, Germany provides Russian ballet training. Many of their teachers come from either the Bolshoi or Perm. It's not as far as Russia!
  4. John Cranko Schule in Stuttgart, Germany has a pretty decent track record of sending their kids into Academy after the younger years. It appears there are many factors that determine whether or not someone from the lower school would make it into academy. If the student continues to show promise, maintains ballet-like facilities, etc., it seems like they are promoted to the JCS Academy.
  5. I just read an article and saw a video of Misty Copeland and her failed attempt at 32 fouettes recently. Thought I would share...http://www.dailymail.co.uk/femail/article-5559475/Misty-Copeland-defends-failing-32-fouette-turns-Swan-Lake.html
  6. Oh wow. I would like to see the social media site. Would you mind sharing where you saw it? Thanks!
  7. My dd did end up going to JCS for her upper school training and just recently graduated from the Academy. There was no problem with the language as an English speaker. In the first year, Academy B, they are required to take German language class in addition to other classes in German. My dd came from Russian training so the style of teaching was very similar.
  8. Hi. I'm looking for two tickets but am willing to just take one if available. Thanks!
  9. I know this year may be a little different, however I was wondering if anyone had an idea about the first day for RBS Covent Garden. I'm wondering what time the DKs are expected to check in. I believe I heard the first day of class will be Tuesday, July 24th. Can anyone confirm this?
  10. So, Dd got housing however it just states Floral Street. Can anyone comment on the proximity of Jebsen House and Pimlico to the ballet school? I'm assuming those are the housing options for Covent Garden?
  11. We are waiting for Covent Garden and since housing isn't guaranteed, I'm getting kind of anxious about not being able to find anything.
  12. We have not received the bill yet either.
  13. Would love to hear feedback on how the gala went. Bruce, understand you are super busy. Anyone else able to see the performance?
  14. Thank you! Haha, yes I am from the U.S. My dd however is in the EU so she's used to walking the city miles!
  15. Thank you Kate_N. Do you know how far that is from Covent Garden?
  16. Anyone have an idea of how many levels there are for Covent Garden?
  17. Dd also received yes. Sounds like more positive responses for Covent Garden.
  18. For the non-ballet going audience, Misty is popular in the U.S. because she has been all over the news and on various television segments. They don't know how she dances but they do know she is a ballet dancer. I agree with LinMM that over here, we seem to know the Russian dancers more than any other dancers as well. It might just be my point of view, however, because my dd's training has been Russian based. I think ABT and NYCB people may not know as much about Russian dancers. Interesting topic though...
