  1. Also hoping very much that there'll be a recorded version. In the meantime, Dance Tabs has a very interesting review: https://dancetabs.com/2021/07/royal-ballet-school-summer-show-roh-main-stage-london-2/
  2. I now have left just the ticket for tonight: Wed 23rd June 7:15 pmLEVEL LG Upper Circle LGB, B-26 | Full Price £15.00 (The rest were returned to the box office which now issues gift certificates for tickets that can't be used, but the request must now be submitted no less than 24 hours before the performance.)
  3. My tickets are not needed by RBS families, so are on sale to anyone who can use them. If you know someone who might like a ticket but can't afford to pay please also drop me a PM, as I really don't want the tickets to go to waste - It's so terrific that the children are back on stage, and the Linbury performances have always been really special. I have available: Wed 23rd June 7:15 pm LEVEL LG Upper Circle LGB, B-26 | Full Price £15.00 Thurs 24th June 2:30 pm LEVEL LG Upper Circle LGA, B-24 | Full Price £15.00 Thurs 24th June 7:15 pm LEVEL LG Upper Circle LGA, A-5 | Full Price £10.00 View obstructed by tier ledge & safety rail, side view of the stage Friday 25th June 7:15 pm LEVEL LG Upper Circle LGA, A-5 | Full Price £10.00 View obstructed by tier ledge & safety rail, side view of the stage Sat 26th June 2:30 pm LEVEL LG Circle LGB, C-29 | Full Price £10.00 View obstructed by pillar Sat 26th June 7:15 pm LEVEL LG Upper Circle LGA, B-24 | Full Price £15.00
  4. Oops sorry, some wrong times and no prices in my original post. The ROH matinee ticket has now gone. 5. Unfortunately both I and a relative are unable to come to get to London for the RBS summer performances. So selling one ticket for the RBS ROH matinee on 10th July (£3, restricted view) and one for each of the Linbury RBS performances: Wed 23rd June 9:15 p.m. Thurs 24th June 4:30 p.m. Thurs 24th June 9:15 p.m. Friday 25th June 9:15 p.m. Sat 26th June 4:30 p.m. Sat 26th June 9:15 p.m.
  6. This online programme looks very interesting: https://eno.org/news/national-rollout-of-eno-breathe-programme-for-people-recovering-from-covid-19/
  7. I've watched World Ballet School Day, plus RBS and other schools' lockdown videos. But I've really missed the visits to classes at RBS, Elmhurst Paris Opera Ballet School demonstrations and more. Is anyone attending interesting virtual classical ballet summer schools as an observer? (I'm catching up on posts now, so sorry if I've missed something in this area.)
  8. I wonder if they have any special training or footwear? I have also seen that position many times in rhythmic gymnastics.
  9. I've heard it described as a toe-knuckle stand but maybe it should be something like the feet-wreck position? 😃 Glad it has no place in ballet....
  10. With the huge number of single-use face masks being disposed daily throughout the world, I'm wondering if the elastic could be used for ballet purposes? Probably most face mask elastic is narrower (and less robust?) than ballet shoes elastic, but what about elastic in costumes? Anyway, if anyone out there could use a batch, I'm happy to send when I'm next in England (after cleaning of course).
  11. Just got a message to say that the Holland Park summer programme (including the July RBS summer performances) won't take place. The message does say that "OHP is currently exploring opportunities to mount operas scheduled in our 2020 season at a future date, at alternative venues." Very sad...
  12. The message I received from RBS Friends said that "access to our buildings to all but essential staff will be limited for the rest of the Spring Term. This sadly means there can be no external audiences at internal School events for the foreseeable future." Presumably this will also affect the Ninette de Valois choreo performances originally scheduled for late March. Sad but understandable to protect the students... Hoping everyone stays well.
  13. Just heard that the 2nd and 3rd (final) repeat days of the ballet school demonstrations (21st and 22nd December) are also cancelled.... Of course there are important issues at stake that affect the students' futures - but what a pity that they are not yet resolved, and that the amazing annual demonstrations, which play such an important part in the life of the school, probably won't take place this year...
  14. If you missed the webcast, the recording of this amazing performance will be online until 20th March at medici.tv (just requires free guest registration - no fee or subscription). Highly recommended!
  15. If you are following election results on Thursday/Friday but looking for something slightly more inspiring - Alma Deutscher's Carnegie Hall Debut will be streamed live on medici.tv at 7:30 p.m. Thursday 12th December New York time (12:30 a.m. Friday in the UK). More about this very exciting programme at https://www.medici.tv/en/concerts/jane-glover-conducts-deutscher-alma-deutscher-natalie-image-and-jonas-hacker/ Apparently, only free registration (and no payment) will be required to watch the stream. (If any of you are in New York on Thursday night and looking for two tickets at cost for this sold-out performance, please PM me. Sadly I will not be able to go myself.) As you will see from her website (http://www.almadeutscher.com) Alma, now 14, continues to gain international recognition for her most most beautiful compositions as well as her other very special talents and personality. She and her family recently moved to Vienna where Alma feels most at home musically.
  16. From the ROH site: General: 15 April 2020, 11am Young ROH: 14 April 2020, 11am Friends: 11 March 2020, 11am Young Friends: 11 March 2020, 11am Friends+: 3 March 2020, 11am Supporting Friends: 26 February 2020, 11am Premium 1 Friends: 19 February 2020, 11am Premium 2 Friends: 18 February 2020, 11am Does anyone know if they will be keeping some tickets back for general booking? And will there also be priority booking for the semis?
  17. Unfortunately I'm tied up for almost all of tomorrow. If anyone hears of segments which will NOT be available afterwards, that would be very helpful to know - thanks.
  18. Selling this ticket at half price or less/zero if you know someone who might appreciate it and can't pay. Don't want this ticket to be wasted!
  19. Actually while Vaganova Academy exams are always recorded, only a few are now put online, and students are apparently threatened with expulsion if they post an exam on social media without permission. (According to the excellent blog of melmoth (https://melmoth.blog/) it is the individual teacher who get to decide if his/her class' exam appears online).
  20. I'm selling one ticket to the RB in Class, 10:25 a.m. on 17th October at ROH .It's a standing ticket: LEVEL 1 Stalls Circle 1D, D-51 | Full Price £10.00 Selling for £9
  21. Definitely the presenter should have known better, but who knows what script she was given, who else was behind this serious incident, who failed to prevent it from being challenged within the studio. The apology - whoever drafted it - seemed carefully crafted to reduce damage, but I guess that's hardly surprising.... What I'd really like to see, after the matter has faded from the spotlight, is for the entire production team to be exposed first-hand to what ballet and ballet training is really about, and sharing their findings in a widely broadast programme.
  22. The presenter apologised: https://edition.cnn.com/2019/08/23/entertainment/lara-spencer-prince-george-ballet-trnd/index.html
  23. An optician's assistant said she once advised a ballet dancer not to get bifocal/multifocal glasses for use offstage, as she thought it might mess around with her ability to guage distances etc. on stage. I'd be interested to know if this is correct and what dancers do in practice.
  24. I do hope that going down to London for the evening will soon become a reality from many places. Even better if they could bring back the possibility to catch a train down to London for a weekday morning meeting without spending hundreds of pounds. Oh well, we can dream...
  25. There are several critical comments following the video. It would be great if the presenters could be shown first-hand what a great opportunity young boys and girls are getting by learning ballet...and perhaps they could then spread the word...
