  1. Oh no that's a shame but thankyou for letting me know x
  2. The IDTA recently posted on their Facebook page regarding a masterclass with Wayne Sleep; https://m.facebook.com/story.php?story_fbid=1053103584702494&id=171993299480198 Does anyone know whereabouts in Birmingham the masterclass next Sunday will be held? I have tried contacting the Wayne Sleep Foundation to ask but the email address on their website doesn't seem to be working....
  3. Exactly. And the results of that desire for control can rapidly become devastating. In my opinion, no young dancer should ever, ever be told she is fat- even underweight young girls are, given the perfectionistic nature of ballet, likely to be wary of their size, so to highlight the "need" for thinness would be incredibly irresponsible of any director or teacher, as it then puts the students at risk of body confidence issues and eating disorders.
  4. In my opinion it's fine- I went to one local dance school that had gorgeous studios, with barres and mirrors- but I learnt far far more from a teacher at a dance school in a church hall, using a chair as a barre.... So I think that the quality of the teaching is a lot more important than having a good barre!
  5. I think the photographs should be 6x4 (postcard size) and just a passport sized photo
  6. Tried to complete the survey but the selection on question 6 doesn't seem to be working properly; if I tick the 'no pain' box for say right leg splits, then the same for left leg, the tick kind of 'hops' to just fill the 2nd box not the first one I clicked....
  7. I like Bloch Synchrony in canvas, although they only last for a couple of months!
  8. When I did my photos for Hammond upper school I did them all in shoes & tights except for the tendu effacé which I did in bare feet.
  9. I have a purple Bunheads one which I imagine would be fine
  10. Even worse is finding a contact lens that somehow ended up stuck to the bathroom mirror.... Guilty as charged, whoops But I can definitely sympathise with rants about disorganisation- my room was always immaculate but it never stopped me from losing stuff (I think I must have been the most frequent visitor to the lost property box in primary school!)
  11. According to a page on the RAD website listing previous winners, Rachel Hickey and Isabella Swietlicki were medalists in 2014 (I believe they trained at Elmhurst & Ballet West respectively but please correct me if I'm wrong!) however as the page doesn't specify winners' nationalities, I only know that Brenda Last, who won gold in 1955, was definitely British, although there may be other Brits who have previously won gold whose names I didn't recognise. https://www.rad.org.uk/documents/genee-docs/PastGeneemedallists_updated_Jun2015.pdf (Edited to add source of information)
  12. Petalviolet they do have a thin sole so are fine from 'car to barre' (great phrase! ) also getting a size too big would be fine because I think they're designed to wear over pointe shoes (so if you're running late to class, dd could put her pointe shoes on in the car then wear the booties over her shoes to walk from the car park to the studio- yep I've done that a few times haha!) x
  13. Is anyone selling the IDTA prep to grade 6 syllabus books or DVDs? Thanks x
  14. I might mean VO5..... Is VO7 even a thing? Probably not :S
  15. When I applied for a DADA school, the form asked for my custodial parent's household income- so my mum & her partner's combined income, rather than mum & dad's seperate incomes; I assume the same will apply for MDS x
  16. Petal violet I use VO7 gel spray which is good x
  17. Gosh is it that time again already?! Best of luck to everyone auditioning, it is a very exciting yet stressful few months, so try to stay calm & enjoy it! x
  18. Thank you your post made me smile hfbrew, as mum has already sent me two parcels..... Of uniform items that I forgot to pack!!
  19. As far as I know, there is no deadline, they just stop accepting applications once the audition date is full x
  20. So happy for your lovely dd balletmadgirl! Hope you manage to get everything sorted in time x
  21. For sale; Ballet Theatre UK Associates Level 2 uniform leotard, size 3 (small adults), very good condition, only worn about 10 times, hand washed after each use so the logo is still printed on the back. Also uniform hoodie age 12 (a bit small on me, I'm 5ft2 so might fit a smaller dd!) only worn a couple of times, immaculate condition. £12 each or £20 for both x
  22. I wouldn't believe that one for a second!! However, that Dancers Pro website is fabulous, thanks for mentioning it Lisa! Are there any other similar websites worth joining?
  23. Oh Joemill that is so lovely to hear, I'm really glad that everything finally worked out for your son & hope he enjoys Rambert x
