  1. I have 3 Petite leotards if you're interested (the leotard sizes are petite, small, medium etc; I usually wear a small in Bloch etc but the Gaynor Minden petite fits me as I'm quite short) x
  2. Hi all, I will be teaching a non-residential ballet summer school at Rochelle The Dance School, in Hinckley, Leicestershire, from August 1st to 5th 2016, suitable for dancers working at grade 3+ standard. To register your interest, please email dancingdreams25@gmail.com Thank you! Sophie Richardson (Co-Director, Rochelle Summer School 2016)
  3. Thank you I was very lucky to get a bursary for RCS so think I will go there and apply for YBSS again next year x
  4. Just had a reply; am on the waiting list for a place does anyone know the likelihood of a place becoming available? I have places at other summer schools which I need to accept or decline ASAP.......
  5. Anyone still waiting on YBSS results? They said on the website that all results would be out by today, but it appears not ????????
  6. Opening the washing machine to see your iPod, looking pitifully dead after a 2 hour wash and spin inside a hoodie pocket!!!!
  7. (Hope the Mods don't mind me posting this here seeing as it's not directly dance related but am interested to hear other dancers' opinions!) I was just wondering if any DC have had physiotherapy to straighten out a scoliosis, and if so, what were the long-term effects? I went to a physio yesterday regarding a foot injury; she said that it could possibly be caused by my (albeit very minor) scoliosis- but that she could easily straighten my spine and realign my pelvis. I was quite skeptical because NHS doctors told me that physio wouldn't work and that the spine would, over time, go back to a scoliosis. However, the physio did some (very painful!) work on my pelvis, which made a noticeable difference already, and she said that within 2-3 more sessions she should be able to get rid of the scoliosis. I was just wondering if anyone else had tried physio for scoliosis- what are the long-term effects? Is my spine likely to stay straight once it has been corrected? Thank you x
  8. Aww yay that's brilliant Lin! xx
  9. Are you going to the workshop, Lin? I am
  10. I attended the Joffrey Ballet School in NYC, not the Joffrey Academy in Chicago; the Academy of Dance and the School are separate organisations xx
  11. No email for me yet! I didn't go to the scholarship audition though so perhaps they're sending those emails out first... Congrats to everyone with a Yes
  12. If anyone happens to have 2 copies, I would also like one! And if anyone has the CD for prep to grade 5 ballet, I am seeking a copy of that too (Sorry to hijack your thread slightly, balletqueen!!)
  13. Is anyone else attending these seminars? I went to one back in October which was excellent, looking forward to seminar 2 in Edinburgh today!
  14. Hi, A little boy who I teach at my local dance school has a JA audition soon; does anyone know what is involved in the auditions for a year 5 JA, or have any tips I can give him? Thank you! x
  15. Heard from a friend that Central results are out, good luck all xxx
  16. I have Lauretta Summerscales, Michaela DePrince & Kathryn Morgan's shoes signed I also managed to get a pair of Miko Fogarty's shoes signed as a gift for my friend's 18th birthday!
  17. Unfortunately not, although I wasn't really expecting to as I didn't realise the closing date was so soon, and sent my application in a few days late x
  18. The stubbornly bouncy tutu which I have spent the last 4 hours tacking.
  19. Gosh, those age guidelines seem quite strange; last time I did the Russian ballet class, it was mainly adults including a few professionals- there were a handful of teenagers, the youngest I'd say was about 14 and probably a vocational student; I don't see how a 6 year old would ever manage that class!!
  20. I applied for senior & haven't heard anything yet so I assume results aren't out, will let you know x
  21. I auditioned last year.... Personally I found certain staff members to be somewhat hostile and unwelcoming, also the class was taught in Russian- I don't speak any Russian so it was quite daunting, and i wasn't able to dance well because I didn't understand what the teacher was asking for! (I had naively assumed that 'Russian' implied 'Vaganova technique'- it hadn't occurred to me that the class would be taught in Russian!) Having said that, I appreciate that other people may have had much more positive experiences of the school, so would be interested to hear of anyone else's views
  22. Hi, Pictures, I found on the website that the accommodation for summer school is £137, but couldn't find the actual course fee- just to give me some idea, do you know what the course fee is for musical theatre then? I'm reluctant to apply without knowing the full costs (or rather, my parents are reluctant to let me apply- I'd apply anyway haha!)
  23. Hi, Does anyone have any experience of the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland's Modern Ballet summer school? What is the accommodation like & is food provided? Also, I can't seem to find anything on the website regarding costs?? Thank you x
