  1. Is this summer school quite hard to get in to? Am thinking of applying but not sure I'd stand much chance of getting in!!x
  2. I wore a burgundy intermezzo leotard when I auditioned for WL year 8! I think the most important thing is that your dd feels good in her leotard as that will help her dance well. Maybe wear the chosen leotard for class before the audition though, to check that the straps aren't 'fiddly' or anything!!x
  3. I just wondered, what qualifications/experience is necessary to get a job teaching vocational students, such as at Elmhurst or Rambert? Is it vital to have danced in a company? Or are teaching qualifications (ie ARAD/AIDTA), or a degree, or 3 years of vocational training, looked upon as favourably?
  4. Aw haha PV I'm sure I could find plenty of time to write to a little budding ballerina!! I'd love to write to her if she'd like a letter xxx
  5. Was that for first year? Is age 18 the limit for Central's first year?
  6. I'm probably a bit old to be a convincing year 4 penpal, but if Little PV wanted an older bunhead to write to, I'd happily join in (when you're living in the middle of no where, an envelope with your name on it arriving on the windowsill of the student room can be the highlight of the week!! Lol!)
  7. I have 2 friends who got a Yes for finals, good luck to your dd x
  8. Haha touring isn't all glamorous though- the bus can't get up the BW driveway which is about a mile long so we have to walk up at 3am when we get back after a show lol
  9. When you get to your hotel room on tour & the receptionist says "Well we don't have many clients staying tonight so I'll give you a free upgrade" ahhhh luxury
  10. I'm seeing so many awesome job opportunities at the minute, I almost wish I could fast forward 3 years & start applying!! I'd give anything to teach at the RBS
  11. Roberta also gives private lessons at the Royal Opera House x
  12. Girth smirf oh petalviolet your posts make my day!!!
  13. This reminds me of when I went to London in the summer, came home with a huge Bloch practice tutu (it was a 'petite' but has a heck of a lot of net!!), proudly put it on- mum just spluttered with laughter and said 'you look as if you've stepped into a cloud'- the tutu was sticking up so much, that the top layer was nearly level with my chest!! So I can empathise with your 'tutu training' struggles!!! At present, the tutu is currently sitting in the corner (yet to be worn, as I haven't attempted to do anything to 'tame' it!!) however I heard that tacking the layers of net together may help??
  14. Does anyone have a spare copy of the green IDTA ringbinder with the Theatre Dance (ballet, tap, jazz etc) graded syllabi in? I have been trying to obtain a copy for months now, it has been out of stock on the IDTA website since October....
  15. Myself & mum spent a good 3 hours one night last week making spreadsheets & colour-coded mind maps, trying to think about summer schools!!!
  16. Wow, your lucky DD ???? I went to Joffrey last year & would highly recommend it, I believe applications are still open x
  17. Their Swan Lake was the first ballet I ever saw.... To 12 year old me, it seemed the most magical thing in the world and inspired me to start pursuing a ballet career... Your comments make me tempted to see the company again now I know more about ballet, to see if they are as amazing as they first seemed, or not!! (Edited for spelling then again for clarity!)
  18. And Happy New Year! Hope everyone has a happy and prosperous 2016 xxx
  19. So sorry to hear of your loss, dear Helen. Thinking of you xxx
  20. As far as I remember, I never received an email confirmation for white lodge or upper school summer school applications, however I did when applying for the full time courses.
  21. Just wanted to wish a very happy Christmas to all my wonderful Forum friends!! It's been a rollercoaster of a year to say the least, I don't know what I'd do without you!! Hope you all have a peaceful Christmas and new year xxxx
  22. I agree with what others have said, intermediate would probably be far too difficult. I don't know about danceworks, but certainly at Pineapple, most students in the intermediate class are adults, in vocational training, or professional dancers. Maybe a beginner class would be worth a try?
