  1. I can find out for you! I have a friend at the school, and from what I understand, he has a ballet class every day (6 or 7 days a week) and contemporary most days, then repertoire and rehearsals. So I imagine about 4-6 hours of ballet per day but will find out and let you know xx
  2. I know of one girl who graduated last year and is now working with the Mikhailovsky... I believe others are working in classical companies in Europe and America.
  3. Hello Stumbellina and thank you for your lovely comment! Anna and Ruth are right, this is a very old thread- I’m now teaching ballet in London and am in the process of gaining a degree in ballet education. Although leaving vocational school after working so hard to get there was a very difficult decision, it was definitely the right decision for me, as i’m now much happier (and healthier, both in body and mind!) than I was when I was trying to succeed as a ballet dancer, a career that I simply wasn’t destined for. Thankyou again for your kind words
  4. I have 2 tickets for the Two Pigeons/RBS double bill which I no longer need- 12th February- Amphi B39, £11 14th February- Upper Slips AA2, £6 Message me if interested, thank you
  5. Ahh okay, thank you! I thought it was a classical company I hadn’t heard of! Have already got tickets for the MB Swan lake though, thank you!💜
  6. Agreed! Absolutely loved Vadim in Swan Lake, but also in Bayadere with Natalia as Gamzatti. Yasmine Naghdi was also gorgeous as Gamzatti, but a dancer who has really mesmerised me this year is Akane Takada- I saw her as Giselle in 2015 (I think!) and really wasn’t so keen- but this year her Nikiya in La Bayadere was breathtaking, and her Pas de Trois variation in Swan Lake was extraordinarily musical, one of the best I’ve seen! Am definitely now a fan of her!
  7. 5. The Trocks (it was my first time seeing them and I loved it!! A perfect balance between comedy and technicality!) 4. Royal Ballet's Giselle (Osipova 😍) 3. Royal Ballet's Swan Lake 2. English National Ballet's Nutcracker 1. The Royal Ballet School in Didy Veldman's 'TooT' (performed at Holland Park and ROH)- this has to be my number 1 favourite work of 2018!! Although not a full length ballet, or indeed even a classical ballet, I just loved the concept, choreography, music..... This piece is definitely one that I'll still be thinking about this time next year!!
  8. London Russian Ballet School have full scholarships available for boys to train full-time, my best friend has just started at the School and is very happy there, feel free to PM me if you have any more questions x
  9. If the white long tutu is adult size 6-8 then I'd like it please x
  10. Yes Ruth the LRBS classes operate on a drop-in basis, although you get a slight discount if you buy a block of 10 classes
  11. Hi! So the day before my exam I met the children who would be dancing for me (I knew them but hadn’t taught them for a few years)- i taught them some exercises as a ‘practice run’ but then in my exam the examiner asked for specific things which I hadn’t already prepared- such as, I would usually do a warm up in the centre with grade 3’s but the examiner wanted a warm up at the barre
  12. The documentary is fascinating but the auto-translate is a bit dodgy!! For example in the opening scenes when the children are saying ‘Drastvoytye” (здравствуйте) the subtitles say ‘red’ when it actually means ‘hello’ 😂
  13. London Russian Ballet School have a brilliant Absolute Beginners class at 1.30pm on Sundays, I definitely recommend that
  14. Figured it out now! For anyone else struggling, the auto translate option will appear if you watch it on a laptop rather than a mobile device!
  15. Sorry to sound dumb but how do you get auto translate on YouTube? I tried to enable subtitles, but it would only let me put Russian subtitles; there wasn’t an option for English translation 😥
  16. If anyone is selling 2 tickets for any RB Nutcracker performance (ideally less than £30 each) please let me know! Thank you
  17. I can definitely second the recommendation, this clinic is amazing!!
  18. London Russian ballet school is AMAZING, definitely recommend!! They have an 11.30am ballet class which would suit you! The ‘Beginner’ class with Inga is about intermediate standard, and is really lovely, whereas Alyona’s ‘Intermediate’ class is absolutely brilliant but quite challenging (to provide a comparison it’s about equivalent to RAD advanced 2 level I think, although of course Vaganova method is very different to RAD!) hope this helps!
  19. She specified she wanted a warm up facing the barre, but then wasn't particularly specific over the other exercises. i found it a really lovely exam to do, good luck with yours!xx
  20. Hi Claudstar, I took this exam in April so will hopefully be able to advise. No, you’re not allowed notes, and the examiner only observes you teach then you have a conversation with her after the class when the students have left the room. the examiner will write down what she wants you to teach, then you’ll have 10 minutes to think before the students come in. I’d prepared possible exercises but didn’t end up needing them in the exam! I was asked to teach a barre warm up, an adage in the centre, an exercise involving pas de basque, an exercise to develop musicality, and a cool down. Do you know the age/grade of the students in your class? This might help you, to think of any new steps that are in their grade, or any steps that they’ve done in lower grades as the examiner will likely ask for an exercise involving one or two particular steps from the set work. It’s a non syllabus class so she won’t expect you to teach a set exercise. let me know if you have any more questions!xx
  21. Darcey is at RAD?? Thanks for the heads-up haha, I'll keep a lookout for her! (I'm going into 2nd year at RAD next week; if any first years need any RAD-related advice then please feel free to message me, I'd be happy to help!)xx
  22. London Russian Ballet School might be worth contacting?
