  1. and that bears out with similar costs for adult intensives to the none residential intensives ...( certainly those in the Midlands and North based on the prices advertised by KNT and The Ballet Retreat )
  2. and no i wouldn;t have got even half way round ... but i do find taking a second class each week is helping, just a shame that the only other classes that work with my workschedule and diary are 35 ish miles each way ( fortunately though work is 18 miles in the correct direction when going to class after work or before a late shift )
  3. Absolutely and other than 'company class' of a morning i'd suggest that is a sensible number ( for company class one teacher leading class assisted other teachers spotting and correcting their groups )
  4. Yes you could reduce class sizes , but obviously there is a cost to do so , either a greater share of the fixed costs per student or if facilities allow greater variable cost in bringing in suitable additional teaching staff. it;s going to be a numbers game everytime. While not applicable to summer schools in particular more of a general observation on numbers - how well a teacher can 'work the room' can be a factor , as @sophie_rebecca ( and others ) will attest, David Kierce can work a room as a teacher in an almost phenomenal way, whether that;s 30 + bodies packing into one of the studios at Central or nearly 50 in the Stanley + Audrey Burton Theatre (in studio mode) at Northern - academic for YBSS as AFAIK David isn;t involved ... I've never taken a Class with Iain Mackay , but Sophie has maybe she can comment on his ability to work a room as a teacher...
  5. sometimes they just come from nowhere - i did one of Mondayy night that actually needed me to 'stop' it at a single rather than worry am i goning to get round anywhere near clean ..
  6. it means they will tell you , but that and any feedback offered at that time is all you are getting
  7. youth funding can go out to 25 in certain circumstances ... Another organisation i used to be involved with had various attempts at 'land grabs' from it;s youth side over 16 -25 stuff , they managed to grab controll of everything under 18 claiming safeguardign but in doing so lost their influence with the HE student sections
  8. Westfield ( and Sovereign and LHF ) are not Health insurance though they are the successors to the pre 1948 hospital funds ....
  9. the UK has enclosure of title for Teachers after a fashion, you cannot be called or employed as a Teacher in the State sector without QTS , however there are not restrictions on scope of practice for those without QTS , not a requirement for classes to be overseen / led by someone with QTS.
  10. I suspect that even if Sansha themselves aren't in trouble the UK distributor / franchise is ... the London store has gone - now a wine merchants i think and the Hull store is not exactly high profile and doesn't look especially well kept - it also seems to have quite poor reviews locally
  11. exactly - 85 degrees and perfect technique is more impressive than 110 degrees and shonky technique meaning more than 15 degrees of it is down to misalignment
  12. how long do you think it would take to write that up ? The following anecdote is totally unrelated to dance, I currently work in logistics for a large retailer, part of my role involves being able to do the actual processing of online orders as well as shop urgent requests and orders generated by the inbound and outbound call centres - i.e. physical hands on stock into the packaging and out the door with correct paperwork etc ( and all the data protection malarkey) - I was asked to do some training / provide a second opinion on one of our new starters who is frankly struggling. this meant i worked with him for the vast majority of 2 full shifts - my productivity during that time was zero ( the cost of this sort of training is written off into the overhead - same as we now write off 8 person hours / day into a support role becasue overall we get more done that way ) but it allowed me to directly supervise his work. during those shifts i was writing notes much as the audition panel will write notes as they see people audition. synthesising those notes into meaningful feedback / report took a further 2 hours and a further hour with his named trainer ...
  13. my distinct impression is that it's polarised if people inside like and are liked by Ms Rojo and the Senior Staff then all is well , but if they fall out the falling out is big ...
  14. that age group referred to as 16 -19 for decades in respect of education, social security , even though few if any actualyl turn 19 before they age out of the group in question , but plenty are 18 1/2 or older at the point their leave that group ...
  15. 16 -19 year olds now are still of 'compulsory school age' until the end of what would be year 13 school / college / HE / approved job with training or training with job ...
  16. Imaging on demand does not exist in the UK because of IR(ME)R , the various Ottawa rules around x-rays / scans came about because Canadian radiologists and Emergency Dept Doctors , concerned at the rise in ' because we can' imaging in the fee for item of service US and their courts rather slack attitude to evidence base over medical practice , and seeing these ideas come across their border wanted to have an evidence based test with good specificity and sensitivity to screen who needs a dose of radiation. a relevant specialist examination will determine whether imaging is needed and what is be best modality plain film XR / ultrasound / CT / MR
  17. an X-ray , like any investigation answers a clinical question. the clinical question to be answered with an X-ray from Minor injuries / Urgent care is " in this patient who is Ottowa Ankle rule positive , do they have a bony injury to the foot and /or ankle" foot and/or ankle depending on exact findings of a clinical exam . where someone has been seen by a specialist Health professional the question may be different and the imaging request may be different any X-ray request in the UK has to be justified under the Ionising Radiation (Medical Exposure) Regulations 2000 https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/the-ionising-radiation-medical-exposure-regulations-2000 https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ottawa_ankle_rules
  18. which they may do during term time , but not during the summer period the processes and systems of work for Halls accomodation are different to the processes and systems for using the same buildign for summer tourist / conference accomodation
  19. Indeed that is case but they see their aim to be sucess of business - as they fills everyone's pay packet rather than to win petty battles with management regardless to the cost to business over all.
  20. does not parse in chrome Version 65.0.3325.181 (Official Build) (64-bit) running on win 10 pro ver 1709 build 16299.309 nor in firefox 37.0.2 on the same win 10 machine Safari being an Apple product means that compliance with accepted standards is entirely optional
  21. a significant part of the problem in the whole thing around outsourcing i s that it becomes the final act of management in breaking spanish practice ridden ways of working, due to the view held by some that organisations exist to employ the workers , not to provide their service Trades unions in the UK could learn a lot from their German counterparts another issue is the rise of entryism and wannabe politicians in trades union roles - which in the public sector really isn't helped by 100 % facility time roles for 'senior' reps / convenors - where other unions / professional representative organisations employ their own full time officers
  22. or as a number of upper limb or knee focused orthopaedic surgeons i worked with in a past life used to say ' perfect is the enemy of good '
