  1. indeed , hence my comment of a 'food supplement' looking like making medicinal claims
  2. i'm with @drdance and @Billyelliott in the run away as fast as you can camp it appears to be a 'food supplement' claiming a medicinal benefit ... aka a total waste of cash
  3. the problem is that the Level 3 awards in dance / drama / music are 'awards' amd not certificates or diplomas - their 'weight' alone is insufficient to fulfill the requirements for levle 3 qualifications to enter a degree
  4. may well come under the University depending on the exact status of the relationship between the colleges in the traditional collegiate institutions and the University itself. I suspect that the College or a University source will be fully familiar with the provisions
  5. may also depend on the venue is it part of the University, the SU ( that can be interesting from exact ownership/ managementpoint of view as some SU buildings are owned by the HEI and in others there are Univeristy owned spaces which are taken over by the SU Out of hours and iirc there;s a few SUs where auditoriaum / cinema spaces get used by the university for large capacity lecture theatres or is the event at an external venue ...
  6. Northern are in Manchester Salford this week Hannah is one of the Janes and Gavin is dancing as well ( and doing some digital stuff with a take over the the Lowry's insta and twitter feeds )
  7. if she keeps dancing and taking the chances to develop it doesn;t close the door at 14/15 ( y 10 entry) or for upper school whether that;s at 16 or 18 ( or degree courses with A levels at 18 if a broader dance/ performing arts career or teaching career then appeals). plenty of people have big career swerves at all ages in all settings. the fact that other teachers were pushing , suggests she has the talent and ability - but if it;s the wrong choice as a person it;s a waste ... and people do point out there are some opportunities for Y8 and Y9 although that does depend on individual schools and that attrition rates
  8. is the first local actually a Royal Mail Local Delivery Office ( they used to be sorting offices before post call came pre sorted from the mail hubs) counter ? the counter at my local LDO / Parcel force depot has big signs saying ' we are not a Post Office Counter'
  9. The dates and venues are to a greater or lesser extent in the hands of others , hence the reason the May 1 day corps day was 'across the road' at Yorkshire Dance rather than at Northern ( YD's studios are pretty fab as well - as @sophie_rebecca and others who did the may 1 day or have been involved in other things there will attest ) as Sophie points out Hannah does sometimes respond to the emails at 'strange' times - but it has to be remembered that TBR is (at present and for the forseeable) a side project for her - and that there isn't a admin minion - it's all Hannah /David /Gavin / Andrew doing their bits around their 'day jobs' ...
  10. Jane, the person behind, @Terpsichore is a barrister ! worth remembering !
  11. i see the January 2018 TBR was the weekend 'before' that ... and based on previous Form the dates for Jan 2019 will be released at the beginning of September
  12. depends what you define as 'mid' january ... as TBR have run a 2 day (weekend) retreat in Leeds early to mid January for the past couple of years . from 2 or 3 year in the first year of TBR, 2018 saw / sees the following January 2 day in Leeds March 2 day in London May 1 day Corps in Leeds June 2 day in London August 3 day in Leeds October 2 day in London and to clarify again i have no commercial interest in TBR, just a very satisfied customer and part of the TBR 'family'

  14. re DBS and permissions / safeguarding etc etc - that's why i said adult recreational classes , although well run all ages schools will know the rigamarole with photos and videos of their child / YP students
  15. subject to you have the relevant insurances and acceptable terms over the IP, I suspect that there are plenty of adult recreational classes who would appreciate the offer, especially if you offered the teacher / school the ability to use the pictures in publicity material .
  16. was going to comment similarly, presumably becasue Paris has covered other european destinations i suppose it depends on who issued the vouchers in the first place the now defunct UK importer or sansha themselves
  17. if i recall correctly RAD VGEs have a free enchainment section
  18. repeating years / ' grades' is more common in the US and apparently in parts of the Europe ...
  19. if the alternative is assessed out and dumped out of the system ?
  20. as Kate N says exam marks mean little or nothing when you are auditioning for a job ... you could have 99s all the way exam result wise but if you can't adapt to the 'house style' of the job you are going for ... if you talk to the pros they will tell you that each company has a house style and it varies between companies - they all want technically proficient dancers but some want the 99. 9999% perfect line and impeccable clean delivery others want dancer- actors who might not quite the perfect line etc ... if you look at some of the discussion in the 'Now that;s what i call a correction' thread there's some of the barbed remarks about different companies and awarding bodies that come from the likes of Mr Paroni and Mr Keirce ...
  21. There is much wailing and gnashing of teeth over how soon is right for an adult learner to start doing pointe - also to what extent - a relatively short beginning pointe class which is mainly foot exercises, and pointe at the barre with little or no centre work en pointe is a different kettle of worms to a VGE class there is no simple answer - most adult beginner classes mix and match the levek of their exercises, turning vs no turning seems to be a class size function in adult beginners - if it;s class of 30+ as you see in that there London (e.g. David Kierce;s thursday class at central) you have different challenges to a class of 8 -12 people as seen in many outside london adult beginner classes. there is a simple answer for children as when is the earliest age to start pointe to some extent - especially those who have been taking class regularly since they were little - the limitation is often foot bone ossification as potentially, strength / balance etc is there before
  22. i'd agree with what others have said. the pictures you show in your link aren't ones that really help with saying what type of foot you have in terms of the toe profiles , also if you teacher thinks you are a year of regular class away from going on pointe you feet may well change in that time - i know i've dropped a width due to taking class regularly as the instrinsic muscles have toned up ...
  23. we've had a thread about larger sizes and @sophie_rebecca has a post on her blog https://transdancers.wordpress.com/2016/12/09/adult-attire/ there is also discussion on the topic within the 'RAD intermediate foundation as an adult ' thread
