  1. the handling fee that RM / PFW charge is one of the smaller ones and a lot smaller than if you got a customs agent to do it ... the only semi legitimate way to avoid it especially from the US ( where postal offences are federal felonies and the USPS has it's own police force to enforce ) is if you have a firend / family member in the US /NAFTA who can get it delivered to them repackage it and send it as a gift ...
  2. the points with regard to norovirus etc and gel are pertinent... the gels are great for bacteria - which is why they got pushed when MRSA was the big thing ( forgettign that Staph Aureaus is native skin flora and nonone has dared to a proper survery of resistant Staph aureaus carriage as the figures would be scary )
  3. VanGelis or JMJ in general are a good punt for 'space type music' even if that wasn't the original aim of the piece ... also think out of the box a bit ... another film reference but who would have placed 'try a little tenderness' with massive machines of war - as per the air to air refuelling scene in Dr Strangelove ... AAR being a somewhat mesmeric almost pas de deux ...
  4. BT4D want a 'real email address' ironic given the admin sends the message from AOL , they will not except Gmail or the main facesof hotmail/ windows live mail ... despite the fact that for many people that is all they have ... ( having had fingers burnt with ISP email accounts that fizzle out )
  5. I didn;t make that mistake in my teesn as fortunately we used to get put through it a bit by the pe/ dance teacher who choregoraphed the musical theatre stuff school did as an extra curricular ( while the dance stuff wasn;t technically difficult , MT has it;s own physcial challenges in terms of the singingd and dancing )... but i was one of the few guys laughing when during my time in the TA soem ofthe roughty toughties were a little to loud and a little to scathing aobut aerobics and ballet ... the PTIs and an aerobics instructor soon put paid to that ...
  6. if it;s that bad i am suprised they weren't offering it , but remote diagnosis / discussion of indvidualcases is fraught
  7. becasue a revision is a far more complex procedure ... and there is the risk of it beeing needed at t just the 'wrong ' time from the point of view of doing an operation i.e. where your peers are still relatively well but starting to be 'old' in the sense people really mean it but when your physiological reserve has declined which means a longer operation would be more problematic ... Unfortunately people have a habit of over estimating their physiological reserve ( or that of parents etc ) and how the impact of major surgery or serious illness in a previously 'well' ( but teetering on the edge from a physiolgoical reserve point of view) can mean it becomes a 'pre terminal ' event... healthcare is an art as well as a science Ars Longa, Vita Brevis - art is long , life is short declared bias/ interest - I have previously worked as an RN in specialist rehab and dementia care
  8. the 'too young' comment with regard to knee replacements is there isn;t all that much experience with really long duration of implantation and unlike hip where there is often scope for revision ( especially femoral components - i've seen custom femoral components that are effectively half a femur ... ) this risk is they do your knee in your early 50s and in 20 - 25 years time in your mid 70s you are still active but your knee prosthesis is beginning to fail and there;s no salvage option ...
  9. Although some sites do dislike 'thread resuscitation' , it has it's benefits in bringing past relevant discussion back into the topic. As an adult beginner I don't know enough about the differences between the 3 or 4 (or more?) different awarding / examining bodies , but as someone who has taught in other activities and vocational ( for the workplace, rather the meaning attached in relation to dance) training I can understand, appreciate and sympathise with the teacher who does not want students confused by the differences in expectations between different awarding bodies or where other teachers are teaching poorly. I think anyone who has ever taught or trained , will have had experience of havign to dismantle someone's techniques and rebuild it because of past poor training they recieved especially in the case of somethign which relies on psychomotor skills and muslce memory ... also those forced to write in a particular style of script at junior school will find it is nigh on impossible to totally eliminate aspects of that style ...
  10. exactly , although interestingly there is hypocrsiy in case law of enforcement of this - as apparently within the context of organised Sports one can consent to assaults but you can't in other settings see the 'Spanner ' case ( point of order here i've not linked resources on that case as it discusses 'adult content' )
  11. Is it in the Equality and Diversity bit ? to prove / disprove that dance is a 'middle class' pursuit ...
  12. The principal in question is a bully unequivocably - the meeting and the way in which she defamed theconcerned parent reinforce that. The behaviours are a safeguarding issue i am surprised that social services dismissed it so lightly, an allegation of that nature from staff to service user in a CQC regulated care setting would launch the full three ringed circus. Hands on corrections shouldn't be an issue - the problems there are based on hyperbole and stories from friends of firends etc
