  1. Thank you so much stardancer, that's so kind of you. I know you know exactly what we're going through and appreciate we're actually in a more fortunate position. Hope your DD recovery is still heading in the right direction. Xx
  2. @stardancer - many apologies for stealing this thread but I thought there would be some overlap. Just got back from seeing Orthopaedic surgeon. ..DD has suspected torn meniscus. Anybody have experience of this? She has to have MRI to confirm next week. To say she's devastated is an understatement. She's just got into EYB - casting next month. Help! Any advice gratefully accepted. Is this the same as your DD @stardancer?
  3. Thanks everyone. She has been prescribed a high Vitamin D dosage. When you think about it our DC do spend so much time indoors. Having read up though, @sarahw is right - it's recommended we all have extra during the winter months. Thanks for your help everyone.
  4. Get her a blood test. DD has been prescribed a high dose of Vitamin D. One of her dance teachers recommended Berocca plus a teenager multi vitamin.
  5. Hi there, DD after serious flu bug has been diagnosed with very low levels of Vitamin D. I have a telephone appointment with my GP tomorrow and I'm still at work so haven't been able to Google yet...does anybody know if she should stop dancing for a while. She's too weak at the minute anyway but I'm just wondering if anybody has been through this. Thanks.
  6. I'm a bit confused. My DD was supposed to audition for a Y10 place but was too ill to attend so she's been invited to an 'overflow audition 'on June 23rd. How do they know they'll still have spaces then?
  7. Permanently greasy hair I'm afraid for my DD . Perfect bun each time though. Also the sleeping nets rather than bun nets from Boots - can be wrapped around several times. DD much better than I ever was - she watched youtube videos.
  8. My beautician recommended mineral makeup for DD. Jane Iredale is very good.
  9. DD got a place Thanks for all of your good wishes and sorry for the not yets.
  10. Well done @ArucariaBallerina - that's fabulous news.
  11. Who is this with @stardancer? Does this cover include physio?
  12. She did have a pair of GM and I completely agree about the nightmare that was the ribbons! She liked them at first but fell out of love with them. We have a brilliant fitter who spends ages making sure she gets the right ones. Her first ever pair were Bloch and she's had Freed and Grishko as her feet/strength have changed. She loves Bloch European and they do look lovely on - it's just she's getting through them quickly. @balletbean she's currently Grade 6 and Intermediate. Does roughly between 2 - 6 hours a week - rehearsing for performance at the minute. @Jane she does have 2 pairs but leaves them on longer than an hour so I've told her what you've said and she'll try that. She's also admitted she's not been letting them air so we've discussed that too. Maybe let her continue with these for now with a show coming up and then try one of the others you've recommended. I've also asked her to discuss them with her teacher. Thanks everyone.
  13. DD worn Bloch European Strong for three hours pointe and the shank is coming apart already and one of the boxes is squishy. Help...it's costing me a fortune!!
  14. Have a look at Kings International Ballet Academy. ..they're a new school for September but they have Associates too.
  15. Oh no...that's awful. Mistakes happen but that's just not great at all. Everything crossed here. Do let us know.
  16. Yes, I was thinking their new Bloch spring range.
  17. As many have said on here, I do think Year 8 is a very difficult year whether at vocational school or not. I saw a really good homeopath who helped my DD with her anxiety issues. Good luck and keep in touch.
  18. Absolutely. DD in Year 9 and I thought the other day I'm going to have to start putting away ££ each month for audition costs, travel, accommodation etc. ..
  19. Thanks for sharing this with us dramascientist - a timely message for us all. I hope your daughter is on the mend and I hope she is able to dance again. Life is far too short - happiness is everything. Good luck.
  20. We're not at this stage yet but I read everything with interest as these are on our short lists. There's lots on here about the remote nature of Ballet West and I'm guessing that's a huge consideration. Plus what about living accommodation? Good luck.
  21. So pleased for you all...can't believe all of the offers and decisions you've now got to make. Do keep us informed. RCS is on our list for a few years time - due to funding amongst other things. How on earth are you going to choose? Good luck.
  22. Does anybody know anything about Cinderella in Hollywood? Just know it's new for EYB.
  23. Can't help but I just wanted to say a huge congratulations and I'm really excited to see what she chooses.
