  1. But some things DO justify missing school. Education is so much more than just being in the classroom. Think of the friendships, memories and experiences on offer through dance and similarly the exams.
  2. I honestly think we find it harder than they do. When my DD was younger she used to sob for about half an hour, then we'd talk, have a 'special' tea and it would be fine. Now she's a bit older she tends to focus more on improving a technique. I think my thing is it's not a 'no' it's a 'not yet'.
  3. Dance is not extra curricular for my DD - it's her life! It's far more important to her mental health, confidence and her general well being than any of her academic subjects. Thankfully her teachers recognise this and fully support her.
  4. Couldn't have said it better myself.
  5. This is a brand new school and I think it is geared up more to those who want to go to a Vocational school but they do offer more than just ballet. I would email them - they're very helpful. Have you looked at Opes?
  6. If you put in a search on here for EYB, there are a lot of threads on here. Good luck, it's a fabulous experience and yes you do get to know if you're successful on the night.
  7. I've just seen the scholarship auditions today are cancelled because of the snow.
  8. Can I just say that I have found this forum to be invaluable and I love the fact that everybody is so supportive - there's no jealousy, bitterness or I'm not telling you because my DD is better than your DD. This ballet world is an absolute unknown to most of us and to hear the good and the bad is just perfect.
  9. Lol...my DD has just become more obsessed /committed and I'm foolish enough to support her 100%
  10. The funding 'thing' honestly keeps me awake at night? I absolutely dread my DD being offered a place - which let's face it is a massive achievement in itself - and then she can't accept because she can't get the funding. It's all very well saying , I've made it clear from the start but I'm just unsure how I could personally deal with that never mind DD.
  11. Oh no - not a nice end to an otherwise (hopefully) lovely day. Hope you get sorted quickly. I'm hoping the plumber will be at my house this afternoon but I have downloaded a money off voucher for Prezzo if it's not fixed by this evening I am so fed up of boiling kettles for water!! Fortunately Prezzo is near my parents so I'm thinking we could pop in for showers too You can tell that I'm really hopeful that it will be sorted!!
  12. I use a clear nail polish to stop ribbon from fraying - don't trust myself with a match.
  13. Misery continues here...still no boiler. Keep telling myself there are plenty worse off than me. On a positive, been invited to roast chicken lunch at my parents.
  14. Bex does ballet - that's so kind of you to go to so much trouble. Thanks...my tiny reset button like you describe is on the thermostat switch. I'll have another look though. Thanks x
  15. Thanks both. Don't think it's the radiators though, think it's the actual boiler. Condensate pipe was frozen and I think this has caused all of the problems. Had issue since Thursday - rented property but estate agents say plumber can't come until Monday :-(
  16. Hi,can anybody help? I have an ideal logic 30 boiler that's showing a fault code that would suggest low pressure, but it hasn't got low pressure. I've thawed the condensate pipe but still nothing. Twiddled valves and tried to reset and nothing.
  17. Thank you. Funnily enough I said swimming but she'll believe all of you rather than me
  18. Today’s Wimbledon audition is going ahead. If, due to the weather, you are not able to attend please get in touch by email. This was on Facebook from EYB
  19. Hi, DD wants to tone her arms and I'm guessing she needs dumb bells. Any idea on sizes /weights? I've had a look but there are loads to choose. She's 14 and just wants to firm up a little. ..any recommendations?
  20. Can anyone remind me how funding works with RCS please. What sort of accommodation is there please?
  21. Well today is the day. Chukkas everyone
