  1. Just out of interest - are the offers ever dependent on GCSE grades?
  2. Thank you for your words of wisdom. Was getting quite down cast. Good luck Raquelle and please keep us informed.
  3. You're absolutely right @balletbean...cost is certainly a huge factor and I totally agree. I reasoned that if I was concerned about my DD being in London at 16, I/ she probably wouldn't cope with New York or Chicago.
  4. . All the years, of given up weekends summer holidays and well "normal" life in general seemed to finally in that moment feel very worth it. After various emails and rejected dates for my mother's 65th birthday celebrations I'm glad we're not the only ones! My own DD asked to do ballet when she was just about 4. Who knew where it would take us? Never guessed that she would now be wanting to become a serious dancer. Fills me with fear for the inevitable rejections and disappointment ahead. When I see her on stage though she looks so happy, so beautiful and so graceful that it's all worth it.
  5. Do let us know the outcome?
  6. Hi, I can't really remember what happens but I wouldn't worry, she's done the hardest part in getting through the audition. In all honesty they know who they're looking for and which parts at the audition stage. Can't help as I'm not familiar with this ballet. I think they'll want to see her en pointe and I do remember Miss Lewis only giving them a pointe position if they could handle it. Hope she has fun.
  7. Thanks naivedad. Really reassured by your comments as my DD is in Year 9 and I thought I was being a bit silly with the notion of 'getting her name out there'. Thanks for your ideas about America too - hadn't even thought of it. #haven'taclue!
  8. I'm shocked - how short sighted is that? I do know somebody recently joined my DD's school as her own large Academy wasn't offering GCSE music. I do worry about this and wonder how we compare with the rest of the world.
  9. My DD hasn't done PE since Year 6 and she's now Year 9. Mostly through not wanting to attract injury but also to give her a break because of the amount of ballet she does. School have always been very supportive but she's fortunate to attend an independent school that offers ballet too so I'm sure they are going to be more supportive. I'm surprised to hear that PE is reducing in mainstream pupsmum - very sad.
  10. Oh no - tonsillitis is awful. Lots of rest and tlc. Hope she's better soon.
  11. Oh no Sparkly - hope she's better for tomorrow but please don't think I'm being cheesy when I say - what will be will be. Best of luck
  12. Dates are out for this year for the extended associates - do we complete the same application form as the younger ones? My DD is currently in Year 9 and it looks like the form on the website goes up to Year 6?
  13. Audition forms are out for the next production - on their website. The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe :-)
  14. Thank you so much for all of your replies - definitely looks like one to watch. What would be he progression after this course then and how does this compare to the BA on offer at Ballet West and say what's on offer at Elmhurst? Confused.com!
  15. Was just wondering....my DD is interested in Ballet training at post 16...should we be considering here? Thanks in advance.
  16. Does anybody know when and where the next one is?
  17. My DD had really flat feet and has literally just been working them harder during her pointe classes and over her roller - she's had amazing results. Really defined arches now.
  18. Have a look at the Malvern Ballet School. Never been but I've heard good things.
  19. We got a yes too. Well done everybody. Sorry to the 'not yets'.
  20. Brilliant news - congratulations and thanks for letting us know xx
  21. Good news or bad news? xx
  22. So...not an email this time?????
  23. My DD is angry now and refuses to discuss it, she's fed up of waiting. So am I but trying to keep things calm.
  24. Thanks PurplePebble - the plot thickens. Our recall letter was on the 19th and it didn't have that information on at all (just looked). Anyway, in a nutshell we are going to have to wait a bit longer as you've said. It would have been nice to all have been told the same thing though! Have a good day.
