  2. Has anyone heard anything about NYB this year? I’ve had a look at their website and it still doesn’t have anything up about the timing of auditions or even what it will be this year (apart from not residential) but I thought someone here might have some insider knowledge!
  3. Has anyone's DD or DS on here done this? I have signed my DD up to audition and looked at the dates of rehearsal which will definitely clash with associate classes. If she gets a minor part, how likely is she needed for all of the dates? Can anyone impart any wisdom as to what is expected? Obv if she gets in, then we will totally committed but would like a good idea of what is realistic? Thanks
  4. Hi, I am trying to find out more info about English Youth Ballet as I keep reading about it on here but I can't find much info on their website. Can anyone please explain? Is it a weekly class or do you just do a set number of classes then 1 performance? If a set number roughly how long does it last and how many classes are there? What day is it usually on? Would it clash with Saturday associate classes? Thanks in advance!
  5. Morning all! Registration seems to be open for LCB’s autumn auditions for their 2018 production of Ballet Shoes. It’s taking place in early July. Excitement in this house as DS is old enough to audition this year, but sadness too as DD is too old this year.
  6. Hi guys, Pretty new to this game so bare with, My daughter is 10 years old, very keen and pretty good (I am a little bias), she wants to start auditioning and to do more competitions, so here's where I need help...….I've looked through threads and found things like RBS junior associate, London Children's Ballet etc.. Is there more? Thanks in advance
  7. So new EYB dates are out I'm so happy that one of them is near enough to me that I can audition! P.S. Does anybody know what the auditions (particularly the senior auditions) entail? I know it is just a class, but 1h 45 mins is quite a long class. I can imagine it would be very busy! 8. For any kids taking part, Miss Lewis offers a private assessment for those considering vocational training. It's done one to one with a written report at the end for a reasonable fee. She's incredibly honest and will tell you if it's worth spending time and money to persue it. My DD was a little nervous before hers but she really put her at ease. For us it was definitely worth the money.
  9. Hi can anyone give me a heads up? My daughter has developed a love of ballet, shes been dancing for nearly 3 years and managed to achieve a distinction in both her pre primary and primary exams. For her to be able to gain more experience her teacher suggested she should audition for EYB (they are performing on our doorstep). Ive put the application in, but so nervous for her as this is the first time shes done anything like this 😣 Could anyone let me know their experience with them, what sort of things do they get them to do in the audition (dd is currently working on grade 1 atm so is still imature in that sense), do you know straight away if you have been successful? Tia xx
  10. Hi my daughter has got through the first stages of audition and is due to attend the final audition for them to select cast members. Has anyone on here been through the final audition process who could give me an idea as to what happens please? She is 8. Thank you xx
  11. Just had an email to say my little girl is through to finals for the junior company. So happy for her. Even if she doesn't get in it'll be a lovely experience for her to get this far.
  12. Just seen Midland Theatre Ballet have released their auditions for their next production, Beauty and The Beast, how exciting!! My DD did it a few years ago and loved every minute, I would highly recommend it if anyone lives in the Midlands. NYB

My 8 year old dd is about to venture off for 10 days with NYB and having tried and tried to teach her to do her own bun, we're not having much success! She might make it through the pliés but it ain't gonna hold up beyond that!! Can someone who's done NYB before please Tell me if there will be someone there to help them with their hair? I can't imagine one house mistress doing 20 buns every morning!!

  16. Reading through different threads I have come across auditions for both London Children's Ballet and English Youth Ballet. Could someone please help me understand what the difference is between the two?
  17. Is there anyone out there whose dd has been cast as a lady in waiting and Hungarian dancer in the past? Was secretly hoping for a tutu wearing number but this seems doubtful. More likely heavy shoes I would have thought. Oh well. She came out smiling so that's the main thing!
  18. There are some new audition dates on their website. They're coming back to Aylesbury next year which is good news for us!

    Auditions

Hello everyone Is there any good ballet auditions to audition for , or any associates course (things like that) Thank you !
  20. Preliminary information about a new theatre ballet group popped up on my facebook page this morning. Copied and pasted the information for anyone interested in finding out more. "New youth ballet company for Somerset and Devon regions. We are delighted that the Lead In American in Paris Leanne Cope and soloist of The Royal Ballet Paul Kay are our Patrons. South West Theatre Ballet is an extension of Midland Theatre Ballet, which has been successfully running for 6 years, and we shall be holding auditions for our production of Beauty and the Beast in 2018 on the 29th and 30th April 2018 at Queens College, Somerset and Dartington,Yeovil . Website will be available shortly " southwesttheatreballet@gmail.com
  21. My DD did NYB last year and is auditioning on Sunday in London in Group 2 (11-15 I think). Wondered if anyone can share any info on what to expect from the audition and whether it is similar/different to last year? Also, how quickly are results expected out? Last year we had results really quickly, I think it was Tuesday following the Sun audition. I haven't seen any results posted yet for Leeds or Manchester.
  22. My DD is considering auditioning for the senior audition age group for the first time but would not know anyone else auditioning. Has anyone had a DC who was in this situation and selected and if so how did they got on when rehearsals started? Were they ok or did most other DC know each other? Also, DD only does about 15mins pointe a week so would she still be considered for a pointe part as I am not sure if her feet would cope but I expect they could tell at casting if her feet looked strong enough or not for a pointe part wouldn't they? (obviously I realise she may not get that far)!
  23. I've just come across this via BRB's Facebook page: Dance students of all abilities, aged nine to adult, are invited to audition for Cinderella Dreams, a project from Birmingham Royal Ballet’s Department for Learning. Inspired by the ballet and classic tale of Cinderella, it will be a unique experience, giving students from local dance schools across the West Midlands the opportunity to perform Cinderella Dreamsalongside Birmingham Royal Ballet dancers on the Birmingham Hippodrome stage on Monday 20 February 2017. Closing date for applications: Friday 19 August More details here: https://www.brb.org.uk/cinderelladreams
  24. CYBC AUDITIONS ON SUNDAY 19TH FEBRUARY 2017 The Cambridgeshire Youth Ballet Company (CYBC) is calling on talented dancers age between 8 and 18 years to audition to join the company. CYBC is managed by Stageworks Events and has been running for three years. It brings together the best young ballet dancers from across the region to establish a unique youth ballet company. Company members get the chance to receive exceptional dance training and performance opportunities while working towards a bespoke ballet production. This year’s ballet will be The Stories of Beatrix Potter and Friends and has been choreographed specifically for CYBC by company director, Saskia Lockey, who joins CYBC with an impressive CV. Having trained with The Royal Ballet, Saskia has performed with The Royal Ballet in London and The Birmingham Royal Ballet, as well as starring in a number of West End productions. The Stories of Beatrix Potter and Friends features parts for ensemble members, as well as male and female soloists for roles such as Jeremey Fisher, Mr Fox, Squirrel Nutkin, Jemima Puddleduck, Peter Rabbit to name a few. Strong classical ballet technique and an ability to act is a must for all those auditioning. Auditions will take place on Sunday 19th at Stageworks Studios in St Neots. Booking is essential and students can apply via the CYBC website www.cybcompany.co.uk or by calling 01480 223331. Saskia comments: “I feel very privileged to be joining CYBC and have the chance to lead this wonderful company. Together we will have an amazing journey through the world of ballet, and I know it will be such a magical experience for all the dancers involved. “I have chosen to create ‘The Stories of Beatrix Potter and Friends’ as I felt it would bring fond childhood memories to all who grew up with her novels. As a mum to two young boys, reading them a bedtime story of Peter Rabbit never fails to captivate their imaginations and transcend them into another world. This is a ballet that will appeal to both adults and children alike, and I look forward to sharing this experience with all involved and working with the cast as a team to create a beautiful piece.”
  25. Hello all, Gathering together all the previous EYB threads it occurred to me that we often get asked the same sorts of questions about EYB, so I thought I would post links all together in one thread. If you have questions about English Youth Ballet, please browse through the linked threads first, as there is a strong chance your question may already have been answered there. If it hasn't - ask away! :-) Kind regards, Spanner Previous EYB threads: http://www.balletcoforum.com/index.php?/topic/3898-english-youth-ballet/ http://www.balletcoforum.com/index.php?/topic/2765-english-youth-ballet/ http://www.balletcoforum.com/index.php?/topic/2674-english-youth-ballet-rehearsal-times/ http://www.balletcoforum.com/index.php?/topic/2348-english-youth-ballet-senior-audition/ http://www.balletcoforum.com/index.php?/topic/509-english-youth-ballet-auditions/ http://www.balletcoforum.com/index.php?/topic/197-eyb-productions/#entry1947 http://www.balletcoforum.com/index.php?/topic/4194-eyb-in-2014-when-and-where/#entry51080 http://www.balletcoforum.com/index.php?/topic/1566-english-youth-ballet-nottingham/
