  1. what is the exact CATS point make up of the level 6 diplomas ? when Nurse pre-reg was fully funded diplomas and student loans etc for living costs for pre-reg degree , several of the EHIs had the wicked wheeze of the 'Advanced Diploma' /' Enhanced Diploma' a DipHE is a level 5 award - 120 level 4 credits, 120 level 5 credits, an Honours degree adds 120 level 6 30 / 40 / 60 of which are from the dissertation /final project ... these advanced diplomas in Nursing has 120 level 4, 120 levle 5 , and 60 level 6 so counted as diplomas for fundign but covered half the 'top up' to a honours degree
  2. looking at the MSDS for the jet branded products they are ordinary cyanoacrylate adhesives i.e. super glue ...
  3. Viv, re attitude of RAD in AUS, tell them to stop being such flaming galahs and talk to the RAD in the UK about both their adult stuff in general and Discovering Repetoire
  4. sometimes the half price sale is an opportunity to make a trip a bit special by booking first class rather than standard ... I can't comment on VTWC in either class as i'm in the wrong places to use the WC line , but VTEC first is nice , and the catering offer is decent . the VT first class lounge at king's cross is also open a decent amount of time ( 7am to half past 9 in the evening - there's only three east cost services leaving KX after this time ) and the VTWC first class lounge at euston is open until 11 pm in the week ... the EMT offering at StP is a bit lack lustre in comparison , but then again EMT's ' main line' first clas offering is bit lack lustre which is odd given that WC and EC despite Virgin branding are Stagecoach TOCs ' under the bonnet' ...
  5. Almost certainly there is demand, given that the stuff KNT do fills up well and Leeds TBRs fill to full within days of Hannah announcing dates. where i am leeds etc is a little closer / easier than Birmingham etc , but as long as suitable studio space is available stuff could be done anywhere, barring egos and interniecene stuff between the awarding bodies Like anything you have to be prepared to take the risk with the first few events but once established ... in Viv's case Down Under at least they have RAD infrastructure in place so will be able to crib from the experience of the RAD in the UK . in the metropolitan /coastal parts of Aus i suspect the issues will be much the same as for anywhere, if she;s more inland catchment / travel will change things
  6. have you had the email from Hannah with the suggestions of what to bring / expectations and etiquette stuff ? i think that covers most of it ... -yes a towel or yoga mat may well be useful esp if you can;t do laying on hard / cold floors -a water bottle with a flip /' twist / drink through lid is also useful ( as only water allowed in the studio spaces ) warm up boots / slipper socks are useful for keeping feet warm keeping the soles of the ballet shoes clean and saves on faffign with footwear even if it is only soft shoes/ flats - sense of humour and sense of adventure and remember in the immortal words of DPK ' everyone loves a correction from Gavin ' ! - the team are absolutely fab as i said before sadly due to real life getting in the way I'm not at this one ( but I am coming to Leeds in January) - but such is the life of someone who works in a logistics related role for a retailer it's 'black friday / cyber monday / christmas shopping ' time ... all hands to the pump and that..
  7. Warm up boots are great remember they are sized to go over their large sized foot with pointes / soft blocks on, so for those with little or no interest in pointes and feet at the low end of size range the size smaller may fit as well (i think itwas @sophie_rebecca who pointed that out )
  8. fabulous news ! hopefully the stars will align and tides do their thing funding wise etc
  9. where's @sophie_rebecca when you need her , she was convinced she'd failed her IF , she's posted about it on here and on her fb page
  10. a general practitioner who refuses a referral is heading one place and one place only , the MPTS. the problem is people are far too quick to defend the malpractice of Medicla practitioners while allowing and contributing tothe culture of other Health Professionals being thrown under the bus.
  11. There is NO indication to go to A+E , where is the emergency, red flag symptom/ sign or accident within the last 72 hours to a Week at the very most ? Declared interest former A+E band 6 Nurse The appropriate course of action is to attend the GP and request a referral to an appropriate hospital service , if necessary on a named consultant basis . attending A+E will just waste Michelle's time anyone who goes with her and the time of clinicians in A+E . the Emergency Daprtment is NOT a short cut to consultants
  12. Modern life is rubbish . Fewer and fewer people work 9-5 or traditional alternating shifts. Best we can achieve with current working patterns at my workplace is 4 out of 6 off on a very lates heavy rota (5 out of 6 weeks are lates due to the nature of the work and the rise of 'order by 10 pm get it tomorrow '). Potentially that's better on paper than traditional rotational shifts... (but requires senior manager to let you move weekdays off to the preferred day and sometimes start+ finish early on mids / days. Other parts of the site do 4 on 4 off which if your class only appears on the timetable once a week means month there - month not (if the same level appears twice with a couple of days between you'll make more classes but still be month there month not.
  13. I think it's an ego thing ... some teachers are completely 'over themselves' in that they have achieved the highest levels or they knew when their talent 'ran out' and they reached their ceiling ... and have insight into this and peace with themselves ... look at the frustrated angry little men on the touchlines of amateur soccer whether managers of adult teams or managers and/or dads of kids teams ... i get the feeling that some teachers are in that bad headspace
  14. however these boundaries are theirs to make ... Boundaries are interesting, i've always been a bit underwhelmed by celebrities, but then again when a family friend is a World Champion in an activity , and other acquaintances are national Champions it;s a bit of a recalibration ... different things have different norms ... talk to people who do certain activities and something equivalent to TBR ( or the calibre of teachers on Central;s evening classes rosta) would never happen or it'[d be a very special occasion ...
  15. Previous topics where this has come up have back and forth on it , and the view was ; the quality line is set equally high , the main difference is that the 'surplus' of dancers above the quality line but not able to find a suitable place may on occasion approach zero for the chaps .... there is also recognition that depends on the teacher and the 'local' school the 10 year old can be anywhere from a somewhat held back g2 to g4 or 5 and chomping at the bit to be doing vocationals when strong enough and ossified enough to cope with the work Certainly the ease of physical assessment in terms of likely outcomes at 18 is going to be harder for boys as T hasn't kicked in as hard as E has kicked in for the girls at 11/12 and T's effects on young chap's puberty do seem to be continue to develop for longer and more noticably than the effects of E on a typical female puberty.
  16. Interesting observations. Yes prolonged attendance does seem to be limited... certainly while presenting male 'he' was the only regular male face in class at the local beginners / improvers class i take. A few tappers or college performing arts people take class sometimes even despite the option of a combo of barre with ballet class and then on to the adult jazz/ modern that some of the regular beginner / improver attendees do due to class times overlapping... Recently in that there London, 4 or 5 male presenting people of 30 ish at DPKs thursday 'beginners' at Central. 8 iirc male presenting people of 40 + at August TBR. ( plus one 'honorary boy' i.e. female dancer doing the male rep ) And a good proportion of them were from DPKs various classes at Central...
  17. That is something interesting about Dance , ballet in particular... yes there is JAs but serious training is limited before yr 7 and if not 'in the frame' by 16 / 17 for upper school entry it's very rare especislly for female dancers to have a high level pro career...
  18. and perhaps this expalins why certain pieces haven;t appeared in the '5 companies ' program ...
  19. Friday night seemed to one for train related fun ... I'd been in that there London for a (old job related) Regulatory thing and was staying 'sarf of da river' ... and missed curtain up on Gloria thanks to Southern and/or Notwork Fail adding about 15 minutes into my journey back into London . Going to try and get to see it again in Leeds in March , hopefully from inside the auditorium this time ! I think Jan's description of The Judas Tree as Nasty is apt, the concept and narrative are dark , it is a piece designed to shock and ' it all going wrong' is a big part of it ... It's still a piece that people should see once ( or twice) to form their own impression of it. Elite syncopations is just such a good fun piece
  20. sounds a bit similar to LCDS , I have a friend who is a LCDS grad of 20 is h years ago and she says the syllabus for LCDS is roughly similar to what it was when she attended and the spent as much time doing classical and neoclassical ballet as they did doing contemporary stuff ...
  21. I was staying in Croydon and this wasn't industrial strife related , just simply being checked by signals and missing the timetabled arrival time into Victora and consequent knock ons to the tube to Covent Garden . if one of the people involved in my regulatory thingy that was 'actual purpose of vist' to that there Lodon hadn;t prevericated for so long could have had lesire jopurney back from central london and back in ... ... I've used Thameslink to Croydon before , as if one arrives into Kx/ StP or Euston the easiest way to 'sarf of da river' is to jump on a Thameslink from StP 'low level'
  22. Skirts flicflac on etsy or just jess on ebay. Both Katharine ( flicflac) and Jess are lovely to deal with and their work is of good quality. Dancewear 6/7/8 size leos and unis Dancing in the street / Starlite and Arabesque as well.
  23. There have been a number of threads where this is touched on, the recent RAD IF as a adult is one such threads , and both myself and @sophie_rebecca have posted about this topic due to our own particular backgrounds.
