Thanks for the notification - I can't call it a reminder, as I didn't know about it!

 Same for me: Thank you!.

Just went searching for the link:

Prima looked quite interesting from what I saw from the rehearsal on World Ballet Day.

Not sure about the other piece as I haven’t got that far on the catch-up yet!

The ROH calendar for today shows:

TUESDAY 8 [NOVEMBER]

STREAM INSIGHTS: THE ROYAL BALLET IN REHEARSAL

8PM

INSIGHTS: THE ROYAL BALLET IN REHEARSAL: THE ROYAL BALLET: A DIAMOND CELEBRATION

CLORE STUDIO

7.30PM

The calendar also suggests the Insights stream will be available to the end of November rather than a full month. I guess I’ll try earlier but may well have to wait for 8:00.

Loved the Zucchetti rehearsal. I did think it was a bit odd the way he was quizzed about the fact that his work is rooted in classicism and that he really believes in classical ballet, as if this was something slightly bizarre. The RB is a ballet company, after all. I think that what he said about the power and beauty of classical ballet was very moving.

Very much looking forward to seeing the full Zucchetti ballet after this Insight. Meaghan Grace Hinkis said she was in the second cast and I assume was substituting for Francesca Hayward for the Insight but is the second cast actually performing - the casting information suggests not?

I can’t say I’m looking forward to Toonga’s ‘See us!!’ but hope to be proved wrong. I didn’t think the Insight lived up to its name for this part of the programme.

I might well have missed something but is there a full programme of what’s being performed - the cinema listing has more detail than the performance page but I thought I’d seen references to some extras?

I am not sure this sort of thing is dance, let alone ballet!

There is always a 'cover' cast. That group might get their chance to dance Prima in Japan.

I switched Toonga off after a bit.

I think the RB sometimes forgets it's a ballet company! Striving to do new things, the company choreographer is a contempory dance specialist (McGregor), the apprentice a hip-hopity type (Toonga). Many of the new works (some of which I did really like) have strayed away from ballet over the recent years. I always wonder why they can't appoint, as 'apprentice', someone wanting to make classical ballet choreography; seems a wasted opportunity if you ask me

Because diversity is key. I agree that 'balance' has now shifted too far away from the classical.

Well maybe if this is for a main stage production but think the Linbury can support a few more experimental/fringe Dance performances as well as new Ballet pieces.

Hmm. I wasn't a fan of the Toonga from what I saw really. Maybe I will like it live? I'm keeping an open mind.I have loved some of the more contemporary works but I am not so keen on contemporary dance per se - I clearly love classical ballet most.

I wasn't enamoured of the Toonga I saw, either.  I also switched off at that point.  I watched the nightly news, which was marginally less depressing...

There was mention in a Broadway World review of the programme in yesterday's links that there was going to be an Ashton and Macmillan piece included in the programme so hopefully all is not lost. Looking forward to Valentinos new ballet as I loved his previous two.

Perhaps this is the Ashton? I think Kevin O’Hare mentioned Fille overture & PDD at the start of the Insight.

Yes. I heard that too. I admit, with less than a week until opening night, I am rather surprised not to know what exactly I have paid to see next week. I keep looking to see if a full programme has been published. but have found nothing more than the original material published. It is a little frustrating and rather surprising.

Not unusual for galas I know, not to give a full programme- but the rehearsal insight did perhaps give a slightly misleading impression of what's coming and it did make me start to wonder whether I really want to go - taking into account all the usual boring things ( expense, travel etc).

It would be nice to be reassured and enticed.

I was wondering whether there would be any Friends there who have been Friends for the whole 60 years. I manage about a third of that,  and am sure many can easily beat that record.

I should think there could be quite a lot! I joined in October 1962 but lapsed some years ago, but I imagine there are plenty more faithful members.

The original joining fee was 5 guineas - about £105 in today's money?- and from the date I guess it fortunately coincided with my first pay packet!

Meaghan Grace Hinkis has been putting up photos of rehearsals for the Fille pas de Deux (I think with Luca Acri) and Melissa Hamilton has posted images of the Qualia pdd (with Lukas BB) implying that that will be danced too.

Yes it seems a bit strange that the Broadway World piece contains far more information than the ROH has published itself, as yet!

Regarding  Kenneth MacMillan,  I am hoping that the programme will include the PDD from Manon that was rehearsed on the World Ballet Day by Akane Takada and Calvin Richardson 🤞.
