  1. Thanks a lot Lildancer96, it sounds as though it's something to look forward to for her. I'll have a search around and see if I can find a thread or two covering it, once again thank you.
  2. My GDD has been invited to take part in the IDTA awards in February I think it is. Just wondered if anyone can shed a bit more light on just what the day involves please?
  3. janice and ellen sorry to hear about DD's injury. These injuries vary so much from person to another, so you can't really compare them, the cartilage damage in itself might not be much of a problem, and at worse in a lot of cases the ankle might just need a flush to remove any bits left floating around. You can frighten yourselves crazy by doing a self diagnosis on line, so listen to the experts who are dealing with your DD, and with a bit of luck it might not be too serious at all, fingers crossed.
  4. If you have a torn hamstring Twiggy, the decision is already made for you, you most definately won't be able to walk without difficulty never mind dance. Like most soft tissue injuries, the worst thing you could do is to try and do too much too soon, I would advise seeing a specialist in sports injuries, and when you think you're ready to start dancing give it another couple of weeks.
  5. Is it still £20 to apply for a place?
  6. Yeah come on FlexyNexy, talk us all through it and we'll give it a go.
  7. We've received an email for the past two years, I thought that was the norm.
  8. Too true Tulip, but I suppose it is a business after all. It's just like the final auditions for WL for instance, apart from year 7 they must have some idea whether someone is to be assessed out or not, but they still let children audition (at a cost) knowing it's almost certain no places are available.
  9. It sounds like it will something to look forward to for her, just meeting a few new friends will be good in itself. I don't really expect her to get any better training than she 's already getting at Mids, although it's always good to listen to another teachers opinion.
  10. That's good as my GDD won a place on this course at the last festivals, I was going to ask about it, so lets hope it's as good in 2015.
  11. Badballerina you must apply, my GDD attended two RBS ss's although she got turned down last year, and she is one day too old, yes one day would you believe.
  12. Not grade 6, grade 4 but for some reason intermediate next.
  13. It's obviously nice to get good exam results in any walk of life, but it's not the be all and end all. My GDD has grade 6 (distinction) and is starting her intermediate and she is only just 12, but I reckon it doesn't matter what you have on paper, it's the on the day auditions that matter. Some of you forum members with far more knowledge and experience than I'll ever have may correct me if I'm wrong, but a piece of paper, ( although something to be proud of ) might not neccessarily convince any panel when it comes to audition time.
  14. The problem with reality shows, are that so many people watch them. It seems some people will do almost anything for a little fame, personally I find it pathetic to see some celebrities ( so called ) who's careers are maybe waining a little, become desperate to find anything at all that will keep them in the limelight. I suppose in a way it's rather sad for them, and some of these children are being raised in the same way, but most of these programmes are inexpensive to produce, and they pull in the viewers, so maybe the best thing to do is don't watch them.
  15. Bailarin you should have a programme called preview, if you open a photo in that, you can save it to the file you want, say a jpeg.
  16. I'm sorry Tulip, that might have been the case many years ago, but there are for instance more Somalians etc, entering Australia than Britain. If a British citizen applies to emigrate to Oz, then yes, they do need to have the requirements needed.
  17. When you read some of the comments on this thread, it certainly makes you realise just how well some of our DC have done or are doing should I say. My GDD and her friend were in JA's and recently have been successful in their appraisals in MA's. It makes up for some of the disappointment after getting so close to a place at WL a couple of times, and like you say HAIRBELLES, you never know what the future has in store on this wonderful merry go round. Just thought I'd add for any late starters, a boy from our local dance school has won a place at ENB, he is 16 and didn't start dancing until he was 12, so it can and does happen
  18. Selected waiting list here too, we can't complain though as she was accepted last year and the year before that. Congrats to all the ayes.
  19. How do they select for WL summer school, I understood it was first come first served, maybe not? My grandaughter applied in 2012, 2013, and got a place in both years, and is presently waiting along with the other applicants.
  20. Oh I think there would be plenty of parents who could afford it Ribbons, the standard in the students might drop a touch though, as some of the most talented young dancers don't have the wealthiest of parents.
  21. I thought it was more to do with an information pack in the larger letter, and just a well done but no in the smaller one.
  22. The response My grandaughter has been to WL summer school the past two years and hopefully this year too with a bit of luck, and she has absolutely enjoyed every minute. I can't compare the training with other schools, but I'm pretty sure it was on a par with the training she gets at JA or MA, and as others have mentioned, it's probably worth going for the atmosphere alone. spelling mistake for the edit.
  23. I appreciate there's not a lot in it between the ayes and the nays at such a young age taxi4ballet, one of her teachers has had a word with her and her Mum,with some positive encouragement, so everyone is fine already. Well done to all the successful year 7's, it soon passes doesn't it?
