  1. I think about 24 make the final for the twelve places in yr 7 at WL, but as there are only supposedly three places in yr 8, does anyone know how many will make the final please?
  2. I put this on the wrong thread so forgive me if you have read it. My gdd made the WL (yr 8) finals again, (yr 7 last year) along with her friend who will also be in her second final. I'm pretty sure there are only three places up for grabs, so the odds are quite long, we are looking forward to the 28th but with mixed feelings this year. Good luck to all those waiting.
  3. No, it was from Manchester Suzyszoo, thanks for your kind comments. Thanks legseleven, and yes it is nice, especially as the two girls and their families have grown up together.
  4. My gdd got a yes for the finals for WL once again, ( yr 8 ) as did her friend, so the process is on it's way once again. Looking forward to the 28th, but with mixed feelings this time round, for various reasons.
  5. Hi pastel, just wondered what the situation down under is regarding quality dance academys? It's just that a friend of the family emigrated there last year, and one of the daughters is a very talented classical dancer, who no doubt will be looking for a school soon.
  6. With all the focus on our dancers taking part in auditions for the various vocational schools, maybe we should spare a thought for the poor souls who will be going the other way.
  7. It doesn't seem like two minutes since my GD was in the final audition for year 7 at WL last year, and here we are starting the process again on the 23rd, how time flies. Good luck to everyone in their auditions, and remember to enjoy the occasion. or at least look as though you are enjoying dancing.
  8. I wouldn't focus too much on quantity lallamum, quality lessons will be far more beneficial, if you maybe get both????????
  9. A couple of friends dd's have been offered places at Central, I'll find out what their arrangements are and it might help.
  10. I too felt very uncomfortable, that's why I made the enquiry, lets hope it's untrue.
  11. Thanks once again mimi'smom, some great information there.
  12. Thanks mimi'smom it's only out of interest I'd like to know, I'll have a look.
  13. So what you're saying Pas de Quatre, there are more JA's in London, if so then yes you are correct.
  14. I was more concerned that the classes are the same Happymum, I asked as I was informed the London JA classes do more intensive training in the same time slot, it seems so going by the results.
  15. Would anyone know how many London JA's were successful in gaining places for year 7 at WL please?
  16. Lets hope it's good news Discouraged.
  17. I'm so sorry for her and anyone else who got a no, but I'm sure she will bounce back as she matures. Like has been said before Balletgirlsplease, it's not a sprint it's a marathon and the main thing is for her to keep enjoying dancing or whatever else she may do.
  18. Thank you for your kind remarks Balletgirlsplease, and I'm sure they are all lovely dancers, it's such a pity we can't please them all. Some good news though, Dd was accepted for the mids, so that will be something to look forward to.
  19. Yes she is Balletgirlsplease, having missed out for WL she is hoping for a yes for mids, hopefully we'll all know within a couple of weeks.
  20. Very true Pas de Quatre, only two of the Leeds associates auditioning for year 7 at WL even made it to the final. I also agree that charging a small fee is fair, but what would you say a small is, eg say £40?
  21. Couldn't you get a stand in to go, I'm sure some of your pupils won't be able to change their plans?
  22. Bang on there stretcher, it doesn't matter how many times one trains, if it's wrong it has an adverse effect as they are practicing bad habits.
  23. I would imagine you might feel a little easier now Piglet after that advice, hope so?
  24. Well in my opinion Piglet, there's very very little to choose between the yes's and the nay's for WL year 7, and I would say it's far too early to think too far ahead at this stage. Many a dancer has come good further down the line after suffering knock backs, and the same goes the other way too. Many MA's have succeeded in gaining places at upper school and going on to become Professionals, but personally I would say the percentage would be higher from a vocational school, as they put many more hours of very good training in. I would take a gamble and say there will probably be dancers out there who haven't even started yet, who could come good in such a short time. Some other forum members will hopefully give you more assurance Piglet, as this is only my opinion.
  25. Hi Piglet welcome to the forum. If your DD is an Associate she will be getting some very good lessons along with her local dance school, so apart from your expenses what have you got to lose by her auditioning next year. You just never know there might be a place or places available just like this year. It's impossible for RBS to get it right every time, so unfortunately there will be girls and boys being assessed out from time to time for whatever reason, so there's always hope Piglet.
