  1. I’ve sent you a pm 💗
  2. Dd got her Level 6 Trinity Diploma at KS, and declined topping up to a BA as she’s not academic! But it can be done at KS!! 💗
  3. Congratulations on your place at KS 🎉 your dd will love it! I can honestly say from experience that the pastoral care is amazing at KS! They are on to things straight away and nothing is ever too much trouble 💗
  4. KS every time!!!! Kate Simmons is passionate about what she does! Her staff too are amazing. My daughter started at KS having come from vocational schools that had taken away her confidence in her dancing. I never thought her love of ballet would return but she has flourished at KS. Full or shortened versions of ballets are taught each year for their annual tour and performances at the Brindley! My dd has done Romeo & Juliet, Beauty & the Beast, Peter & the Wolf, La Sylphide and now Swan lake! And this is with covid in the middle!!! Never mind the number of solos and pas de deux she’s learnt! And that’s just the ballet side! If you want any more info please message me 💗
  5. My dd got a yes in yr 5! Had an amazing time! We applied for yr7 and got wait list! I phoned re the waitlist and their answer was: Rooms are allocated and paired together in age, when someone drops out they choose/pair up someone same age again! So that’s why there’s a big waitlist! They don’t just take someone from top of list! If that makes sense 😁 Well done all those that got a place, good luck with waitlist and as others have said there are plenty of other good courses out there 💗
  6. Highly recommend going to Dancique in Birmingham! They have lots of makes and I’m sure they’ll find the right pointe shoes for your daughter 🩰
  7. RCS Does anyone know if the compulsory contemporary variation can be your own or does it have to be from Rep?? I’ve googled and can’t find any info Thank you
  8. We did that trip from wales to Manchester for 3 years 🤣
  9. No experience of the 2 schools you’ve applied to unfortunately. When we auditioned for Rambert a few years ago we did see pointe classes and also stacks of rehearsal tutus around! 🩰 Good luck with your auditions 🍀
  10. Hiya what Degas have you got please - T1 please - photos of poss thank you 💗
  11. How are they going to know it’s 10 secs over unless they have a stop watch on them 🤣
  12. Eeeekkkkssss!!!! I’d better up my charges then haha 🤣🤣 In my own school, Theatre, lighting, scenery charges etc are covered by Theatre ticket sales and also what’s left goes towards new costumes for the next show. Costume hire charges cover washing, repairing and hiring - I only charge between £3 and £5 per costume depending on how many dances children are in. Dd was in 2 vocational schools Voc school 1 charged £50 - she was in 1 ballet dance for 10 sec and wore class leo and wrap skirt 😡 Voc school 2 charged £50 - she was in every dance going and costumes were fabulous! Now at College in the 3/4 yrs she’s been there we’ve not been charged a penny (yes maybe had to buy the odd commercial/tap costumes which we kept) but ballet costumes including the most amazing tutus we’ve not had to pay for 💗
  13. Well I can now say I’ll look forward to watching this as my very dear friend has just posted me the dvd of it. Thank you so much lubbly 💗💗💗
  14. If it helps Our dd did the Glasgow audition (a few years ago now!). Did the tour, saw accommodation - which dd knew about as friend was already there. She really wanted to go there, before she went for the audition! We didn’t find out til result came thru (which she didn’t get a place!) she hated it, cried all thru the audition, hated the teacher, it just wasn’t for her. It was too uni like for us, and dd only just 16 just wouldn’t have been right for her. So, yes I think it’s important to actually go and get a feel for a place rather than do an on-line audition.
  15. Thank you got one last night didn’t open links
  16. Ok so we have a different view of Elmhurst! We found dd had no help at all from teachers academically. Whereas Hammond was fabulous and she came out with 9 GCSE’s with good grades, I doubt she would have achieved the same at Elmhurst.
  17. Haha! Not just me then! I tried a few years ago and ended up giving up trying 🤣🤣
  18. It doesn’t have to be a festival dance! My dd made her own dance up as she was older but you could use an exam dance if she’s younger.
  19. Hiya if she’s at Vocational school, isn’t there a list of what’s required ie: make and colours? I’d start there first! Both schools my dd was at had a list I’m sure!
  20. I don’t think you or any of the last few posters have been harsh at all, you’re being realistic! And I totally agree with what’s been said! You say your dd gets 5 hours training a day, you won’t get that in yr 7 here, plus they go right back to basics no matter which school you go to, so I personally think your dd would be bored!!!!! Sounds to me like you have the best of both worlds, home schooling and loads of training a day, wish we could have done that here in the uk! I think there would be a lot more happy dancers still dancing instead of giving up because of the vocational schools they attended 🤣 We’re lucky, we finally found a caring and nurturing college that has put our dd back together again after going off to ballet school at 11!! 2 vocational schools and a fabulous college later she graduated 2 weeks ago and we couldn’t be more proud of her achievements of coming thru it all and getting back her love of ballet 💗
  21. I don’t think other schools access out either! But I suppose some children leave because it’s either not the school for them or, they fall out of love with what they are doing 😢 So yes places do come up.
  22. I think for a start, you’re going to have to give e a terms notice anyway! So maybe during that time things could improve and also with the big Christmas production coming up (I’m guessing which school this is!) that might lift his spirits with all the excitement of that! On the down side. with all the long rehearsal days they are going to be so tired and emotional, that certainly isn’t going to help him. If it were me, I would be visiting at the weekend, even if only to take him for tea! It’s so hard I know! At the worst time in my dds first school we would drive for 6 hours on a Sunday, every Sunday, just to take her for tea, it helped her get thru the week. She had no one in the school to talk to, not even staff would listen, so just having that contact with home helped her thru it.
