  1. Lots of good advice above! I would add doing summer schools or easter courses too 💗
  2. Totally agree with above! Would never dream of giving an 8yr old pose turns. We might do them as a bit of fun at the end of a class but I wouldn’t put them in a dance for an 8-10yr old!
  3. I saw on a post yesterday that JA Manchester are moving back to Manchester City Centre! Such a shame, Centrepointe had fabulous Studios! Although do agree unless you had a car it was difficult to get to 🤣 where will the classes be now 😁
  4. Skirt Length I remember in our first day the girls had to put the skirts and kneel on the floor! The skirt was to touch the floor - no shorted and no longer 🤣 hips that helps 💗
  5. I also second Malvern and Dar Danse. Happy times at both of these! Totally agree with cotes, we witnessed this also 😡
  6. If you don’t mind travelling, would highly recommend Malvern Ballet Seminars for this age! It is residential but we used to get a Premier Inn and stay, take her in everyday and pay to watch!!!
  7. BOTH LEOTARDS NOW SOLD thank you Hope you’re little dancers enjoy JAs as much as we did 💗🩰💗
  8. Hiya sorry only just seen this yes of course 💗 I’ll pm you 💗
  9. Hiya when we were Manchester, yr4/5 were afternoon and yr6 was early morning both on Friday and Sunday! Fridays we went to school for an hour before leaving (afternoon sessions) but the morning ssssions we generally missed the whole day as by time we got back she would have been in school 10 mins 🤣
  10. Hiya Size 2 says age 9-10! my daughter was yr6 when I bought it for her!
  11. Congrats on your students success 🎉🎉🎉🎉
  12. All you new JA’s out there! I still have a size 2 for sale £8 plus post 🥰
  13. She might be better going to a shop and trying loads of shoes on til she gets the right fit! I’m sure a shop assistant would be very helpful! 😁
  14. We’re coming to the end of our journey - JA’s - 3 very very happy years - voc school 1 - a nightmare we would not want to repeat - voc school 2 - better - came out with 9 GCSE’s all of which she would never have got in voc 1 - voc Dance College - despite covid coming along - the best 3 yrs yet! What would we have done different! I don’t know! If current voc college had had a lower school then would have gone there (and I’ve told the head this!). It’s such a hard decision to make at 11, we’ve had loads of ups and downs but we’re finally coming out happier and still dancing, and still wanting to dance!
  15. Here in Wales both adult and children’s classes were allowed back from 3rd May, but teachers I know didn’t go back til 10th May and I only started teaching again in 17th May Good luck when you do return, I’m so happy to be back 💗
  16. May be I should have said accommodation rather than boarding! As yes there’s no boarding at YDA 🤪
  17. Hiya Do you mean he’s been offered a full time place or an associate place? If it’s a full time place then surely you would have been told about academics and boarding! Congrats by the way 🎉
  18. Associate classes of any kind were not allowed when we were at Hammond!
  19. Don't know if this is helpful but when we were there, on induction day the ‘uniform’ supplier was there and you picked up/ordered uniform on that day! 🥰
  20. KS Dance & Malvern both non selective, and I think Hammond also😁
  21. Timetable at KS changes week by week depending on which term they are in. Generally Term 2 is show term (although this yr it’s changed to term 3 as term 2 was in lockdown. But generally they have ballet every day, pointe, pas de deux, contemporary, jazz and S&C twice a week, Spanish and tap once a week. I have found no problems with weight issues in this school.
  22. Can’t speak for Northern sorry. DD was delighted that her Contemporary teacher who taught her at Hammond, was also teaching at KS. Fab contemporary classes, and always fab to watch in their productions. Ballet mainly taught by Miss Simmons who is brilliant and gets the best out of her students. One of the best teachers my dd has had.
  23. Can’t help with LSC. My dd currently at KS in Warrington and loving it. Can vouch for accommodation costs, only £300+ a month instead of £300 a week as quoted for another school in London 😱 All houses are within walking distance of college and students either walk or drive so no costly travel expenses or lengthy travel times either, for me this was a big plus over London. Really nice area too so students feel safe. Hopefully you will have been to KS for your audition so you will know what the place looks like. Staff are fabulous, and caring. Although my DD’s yr is small (10 - 7 girls, 3 boys) current 1st yr has 19 students so still much smaller than some London schools. As Jan says look at their grad destinations for previous yrs. It’s very difficult to predict where students will/have ended up this last yr under current circumstances. My dd is certainly happy that she chose KS.
  24. Hammond have just posted on Instagram an advert for their new Associate classes if any one interested! Sorry don’t know how to link 😁
