  1. DD has just got a Gaynor Mindon flexibility band but doesn't really know what to do with it. Can anyone recommend a DVD or YouTube link, I don't want her to just have a go and risk forming poor habits or injury. She is 12 and very flexible but needs to build strength.
  2. Just checked and we have received it on 5th Dec x
  3. Just read the above and am a little confused ! (Doesn't take much). So govt announced extra 29m but is Stirrups36 saying it is not actually extra just the original budget ?
  4. I have had an email to say I have been awarded bursary and it would be paid into my bank but no information about how much or if it would be back dated. I haven't been on my banking to check if it was actually paid. I will check and get back to you.
  5. I also had an email, no information as to how much I am being awarded though. I am just glad I'm getting something as costs are certainly mounting up.
  6. Really, I've heard nothing at all! I emailed last week but haven't had a response. I might try to call tomorrow, thanks for keeping us informed.
  7. Lovely clip, my DD attends associates and thoroughly enjoys it. Pretty impressive statistic - 100% success rate for students accessing further training.
  8. DD started learning pirouette after attending an associate audition and was the only one who hadn't been taught them previously she was year 5 so age 9 at the time. She was studying BBO, I don't think pirouette was part of syllabus-I think she was about grade 3. She now does IDTA & RAD but I have no idea if they do pirouette for exam work, she is now 12 so much older than your DD.
  9. My comment about the sparkle is one of the missing posts. I referred to adjudicator commenting about DD's sparkly tutu being too much. The tutu was stretch with half a dozen rows of sequin trim sewn diagonally across the bodice, I don't think it was too much myself, but I do love a bit of glitz ???? This was quite a few years ago so times might have changed. DD only wore it for one year so no idea if other adjudicators would have felt the same. I think with hindsight sarahw's suggestion is a great one you can buy some beautiful appliqués and add a few stones to bling up a little. Good luck x
  10. I mentioned this to DD, she smugly told me she's got it covered. Apparently gingers are superhuman and make their own ????
  11. Some great ideas, thanks for responding x
  12. I am in the process of sparkling up some costumes, most of them stretch fabric and I have stuffed them with cushions to get shape before gluing. My mum mentioned that you can buy body shaped boards but my google search hasn't come up with anything (other than surf boards) does anyone know where I can get one or proper name so I can do another search.
  13. That's good Hairbelles, fingers crossed we get an answer soon. TooTu, i think you will find info on RB website but from memory the application asked for details of mileage and also quotes for rail travel. I imagine that they will assess cheapest route and pay bursary on that. There is a band system relating household income you might be eligible for 100, 50 or 25% of costs depend of how many miles travelled.
  14. Thanks for responding, was that for current year?
  15. I have applied for a bursary but haven't heard anything. We travel 146miles each way so really hoping to get a little something towards costs (I believe the band is 150miles so hoping they will be flexible) Has anyone else successfully applied ?
  16. I'm sorry, I have no idea about Birmingham times. DD is in MIDS in Newcastle and starts officially 10.45 to 1pm (actual start time 10.20). Perhaps you could telephone, I have always found RB to be very helpful.
  17. My sister in law and her mother make comments about how awful it would be if my niece wanted to dance (age 5) imagine my delight when neice announces she wants to be just like her big cousin and start dance ???? Every time I see her we get a full demo if good toes/naughty toes and best butterfly impression ????????????
  18. Wow, well done to your son x
  19. I bet eBay was struggling under the pressure of searches for tendu tights ???? I managed to snag the last pair, eagerly awaiting delivery ????????????
  20. Great tip, I would not think to do this. I'm a little tutu obsessed at the moment as my mum has just learned how to make them and I am in charge of decoration.
  21. Really sorry Confuddled, I missed your post - glad to hear you got sorted. I do still have the First Position ones, this has reminded me I need to put them on ebay, show my OH that I do not just waste money on dance stuff - I had a real telling off at the weekend
  22. I would only do the above for foundation and get eyeliner etc from boots
  23. If you want to be really cheep, try the high end cosmetic counters Estée Lauder, YSL etc they shade match and give out a week sample - enough to do a few shows. Non dancing daughter loves high end make up and spends her life loitering around the counters and gets lots of samples (she does spend quite a lot for a 13 year old too) but staff have always been great with her.
  24. Not tried it but I hear coconut oil is good for hair and might smell nicer than olive oil etc DDs hair can break so I use redkin antisnap after washing, it's quite pricey but really good product. Good luck
