  1. Ha ha, only mishap was that I misunderstood the kit list. It said character skirt for JA's and pointe shoes for MIDS. Upon arrival I found that I should have had both. I think they assume that MIDS would already have the skirt from JAs - obviously DD did not do JA's so didn't have one, also no split sole's allowed !!!! Class went very well though, DD had a great time and my husband and I found the other parents to be very welcoming, do a great start ????
  2. Just dashing out to buy - folder, note pad & blue hand towel (and I have the cheek to bag the kids about being organised) ????
  3. Help!!!! DD starts mids in Newcastle tomorrow but I can't find address on any of the documentation. Why I leave everything until the last minute I will never know ????????????
  4. My DD also does local festivals and has not experienced any problems, no fake tan and generally no inappropriate costumes or moves also mostly friendly kids (I have witnessed some less than friendly behaviour from parents though). Lots of friends have been made with kids from other schools etc - DD encountered more bitchy behaviour at this years summer school (from voc students) than she ever has doing festivals.
  5. DD's favourite breakfast is egg muffin we saw recipie on BBC eat well for less. Melt a little butter in a mug, (a few seconds in microwave) add an egg and splash of milk, whisk and pop in a little grated cheese. Cook for a minute and serve in a toasted muffin. Delicious and keeps you going all morning especially if you use wholemeal muffin.
  6. It was superb, so much talent and those boys - phenomenal!!!!
  7. Thank you for responding, DD said she has learned lots so I really looking forward to seeing the presentation. DD has enjoyed the dancing but has struggled socially and has had a few tears about being lonely but she would still like to apply next year so it hasn't bothered her that much ????
  8. I'm looking forward to seeing DD today - it's been a long week without her. Does anyone know if we can take pics of them during the showing?
  9. Thank you - I'm sure she will love it x
  10. DD is attending ybss tomorrow - it really seems to have crept up on me and I need to get packing. I don't think I have received any details other than our offer email and medical form, email says refer to website for info but I'm a little confused about what she will need. DD is 12 and has taken IF exam - does this make her a junior, therefore needing a character skirt? I have the essentials ie, tights, Leo, pointe shoes, should I pack snacks & drinks? Any tips gratefully received ????
  11. Non ballet DD has a show at the weekend and needs a leotard, don't want to spend a fortune if anyone has a used one to sell. It needs to be black with thin straps.
  12. We do two local festivals (both all England qualifiers) despite lots from our school gaining qualifying marks I don't know anyone who actually goes the next level. I think it's because there is such a lot going on at our school but the local festivals are definitely embraced and I have always found them to be a positive experience. Not too expensive, a few pounds for entry (this does add up with lots of dances) costume as previous posters have said can be as much or as little as you choose to spend - groups are generally hired from school. I actually think a week of half term activities would cost more as we would be going out to cinema/gravity etc if not at festival so I'm happy to do it.
  13. Don't know if it's rad rule or our dance teacher but we were told full sole shoes for IF exam. Good luck to your DD xx
  14. Never seen this before - can it only be watched live?
  15. Our primary school was different, I was treasurer of the PTA but neither if my two got staring roles. Instead the bigger roles were given to the kids with little performance experience. I think this was deliberate to encourage those who have never had their moment to shine. DD was happy and help with choreography and behind the scenes stuff all valuable experiences. Just though I would add a different take on your post Piccolo. Well done for your DD Tired Dance Mummy, some great achievements there. Xx
  16. Fabulous news, well done to your DD xx
  17. Hi Pixiewoo how old is your DD? There are about 4 girls from our dance school attending aged 10/11 they are lovely friendly girls very excited to be attending. I'm sure your DD will love it x
  18. My DD has attended twice and thoroughly enjoyed it. Unfortunately she won't be attending this year as she was lucky enough to get a place at YBSS and finances stretch to another summer school.
  19. Baby commercial, whatever next ! Just looked at website and the baby class is 3 hours long, how on earth do they manage that ????
  20. Ha ha, my other half did comment that every other contestant on bgt is a scouser these days.
  21. I bought first position ones as they are on RB kit list for associates (I ordered kids small by mistake and they are tiny). If anyone wants that size I'm happy to sell on £6 including postage
