  1. I have never bought online but they do have a very strict return policy in the store. Sorry, I can't offer any advice
  2. DD just started a new dance school and is studying RAD for the first time so if anyone has a Inter-foundation DVD for sale please get in touch. Many thanks
  3. Well done to you, DD's friend started in September and is loving it DD will try again next year.
  4. Thanks everyone for your comments. I can honestly say that the past few days have been a rollercoaster. I feel privileged to have the support of many of the parents at our current school, DD's dance partners mum in particular has been a rock. Whilst things are by no means settled I can see light at the end of the tunnel. Thanks again to everyone
  5. Festival dances are done and dusted most if them dances learned for last festival, the only one to work on is a duet which Dd knows already. She said it was a conflict of interest (which I don't really agree) but I can totally understand that she feels let down. The really annoying thing is that the teacher has one or two favourite students who I know attend other schools I have no idea if she knows or just has double standards.
  6. Thank you for all your comments, i really appreciate having a shoulder to cry on. The teacher is having a think and said she will let me know what she decides . I have had a chat with a couple of parents this evening and they have been really supportive. DD was amazing !!! after the initial tears she decided that she will just work really hard and hope that the new school will enter her for festival (the new school have indicated that she will be invited to their festival class as she is in the open category for a few sections). My older daughter still wants to dance with her friends at the old school so I am really hoping everything can be smoothed over. Hopefully I can get a decent nights sleep tonight and have a better day tomorrow xx
  7. I have just had to break it to DD that the dance teach wont let her compete in the festival or dance in the show, I am starting to feel that honesty was not the best policy
  8. Thank you for replying. Yes with hindsight I probably should have kept my mouth shut I know how feeble this sounds but it has been on my mind for 2 weeks now and I have not been sleeping). Another child left straight after the last festival and the teacher felt let down as she had spent a lot of extra time with this child prior to the festival and I didn't want to take advantage in the same way. Initially I had just wanted the new dance teachers professional opinion about DD's potential as she is known for being forthright, I told her that I intended to start a new school in the new year and the new teacher felt that it would be a shame if DD did not take the exam in November. DD has loved our current school as all her friends attend and it had only been the last year that she has started to take it all serious she is 10 so I do think that it is now or never. I just didn't expect it to be so emotional.
  9. At our current school DD regularly does a 45 min ballet class and has recently joined in with a higher grade class for an extra 1 hour per week, she shows real potential and is really up for a challenge. We have been advised from a couple of different ex professionals that DD has great potential and needs to move to a more serious dance school. Over the summer I decided to explore some potential schools, one in particular stood out and the teacher is very well respected. She has suggested that DD join her class and sit an exam in November. The problem here is that out current dance school show is November and dance festivals are in October, I never intended to leave before xmas as DD's dance partner has the main part in the musical theatre part of the show and we would like to be there to support her. The new dance school suggested that DD continue with our original school but come to her for exam work so I have just been to see DD's current teacher. I knew it would be a tough conversation but it didn't go well at all!!! I now seriously regret even considering moving her, DD will be gutted that the teacher she loves is so upset.
  10. DD is 10 and would really like to audition for RB. I don't think that she would stand much chance of getting in but she would like to go just for the experience. Am I right in thinking that she is too old for JA now and would audition for MA? Also that there is no MA in Leeds?
  11. DD is so happy, she just had a phone call from one of the friends she made at SS
  12. Ha ha, our posts just crossed ☺ Brand new ballet shoes too !!! She lost jazz shoes last week Are you involved with organising, if so "Thank you" it was a fabulous experience for both DD and me. Xx
  13. I know this is a long shot ! between DD and her friend they lost Black capezio leotard Pudsy bear street dance t-shirt One Bloch pro-arch ballet shoe, size 2 1/2 Navy blue BBO leotard size 2 (it is named) I have a BBO leotard with the name Alexa in If anyone comes across and extras I am happy to pay postage for the returns. Thanks xx
  14. My DD was in the junior group, i would usually identify her as the red head but there were two in the group. DD was the tallest one. i would agree it was a lovely demonstration, a really friendly nurturing environment with some beautiful dancers. DD has chattered away about all the friends she has made and she is already making plans for next year, she has offered to contribute her birthday money towards the cost i have a very happy little girl.
  15. I have pretty much the same issues
  16. I dropped DD off at SS today, the grounds are stunning and the house mothers very friendly. DD and her friends sure to have a fabulous time, I'm looking forward to Thursday to see what they have learned.
  17. Still no news I'm guessing the reserve places will have been filled by now. Well done to anyone who received a place xx
  18. This forum is a great source of information, and as i have no dancing experience myself i do need pointing in the right direction. Thanks for the guidance everybody.
  19. Thank you for your comments. DD has been referred to as a very technical dancer and consistently does well in both exams and dance festivals. Other "dance mums" have also turned their nose up at BBO which I had ignored putting it down to snobbery. The conversation was not actually with a ballet teacher but I believe that she had studied/possibly previously taught RAD and she had also intimated that there are other issues with our school It was also recommended that DD takes a modern class as she is highly flexible and needs to build the strength to control and avoid injury. Our school doesn't offer a modern class so I do need to look into this too.
  20. Our dance school is within walking distance of home and lots of the students attend the same primary school so very convenient. It is not considered to be a serious school which has never been an issue as the principle aim is to have fun but as time has gone by DD's attitude has changed and is becoming serious about dance.
  21. DD attends an associate class and appears to have potential but it has been mentioned that her regular ballet syllabus is not the best one. She studies BBO and is pretty happy with the current arrangements. She has had numerous comments about her excellent technique so her current training can't be so bad. Its not the first time that BBO has been pooh-poohed, but she is happy at the studio and leaving her friends at 10 years old is not something either of us would be happy with. Does this criticism of BBO have any merit?
  22. One of my daughters swims and lots of the other swimmers take Jelly to gala's (the type in cubes that you add boiling water to) I don't know if there will be a gelatin free product you could try, I used to do quite a lot of running and I was told to eat jelly babies after every 10k so i'm guessing a similar thing, again I would imagine they contain geletin so not sure about vegetarian version. Sorry not a lot of help
  23. Pups_mum thank you so much for these recommendations. I have just spent the last hour or so relaxing and listening to the loveliest music, I am the first to admit that I know nothing about classical music but I have just downloaded Catrin Finch and Angele Dubeau and they are both gorgeous
  24. Unfortunately DD not studying RAD. I appreciate everyone's patience, there should be a sub forum "dance for dummies" when dance teacher first suggested a Greek, i envisaged some sort of national dance (possibly some plate smashing ) i much prefer a pretty fairy dance xx
