  1. Well done to your DD.
  2. Out of interest does anybody know how high earnings need to be before bursary becomes more beneficial than mds?
  3. Ha ha, maybe I have it easy then. I shall count myself lucky DD didn't get an MDS ?
  4. Perhaps all will be revealed eventually but at the moment it's all as clear as mud. The whole dance thing drives me nuts, I try to educate myself a little (by reading this forum) but each time I think I know what's going on something happens and I realise that I know absolutely nothing! I'm going back to spring cleaning now, how do dance mums keep up the house work with all the running around?
  5. Yes DD's letter says reserve for MDS (didn't think she would stand a chance anyway as yr 9) and to telephone to discuss bursary, given that it is capped at 50% I haven't bothered as I can't afford it even with 50% off. I have heard of people saying that they have received a full scholarship though and this had really confused me. I know you can't always believe what is posted on social media but some info came via a parent.
  6. I'm totally confused by Hammond. I keep hearing from other parents about kids receiving "scholarships"I don't know if it's just the terminology that's being used and they mean the MDS. Can somebody clarify the position please, my understanding is that there will be a few offered MDS and that others will receive a bursary but the bursary is capped at 50%. thanks
  7. If anyone is looking for a practice tutu I have a white just ballet one in the smallest size, it's never been worn as it was too big for DD (I paid £50 but am open to offers).
  8. I'm no expert but I think the Voc exams are more in depth than the graded ones. There is a minimum age to take the exam (11 for inter foundation) IDTA also do Voc grades, our school does both. I cant help with whether your DD's should be doing them but have read about exams being irrelevant if you are getting good training so it might not be important. I would have a word with your teacher and see what they can advise.
  9. Thanks for the info, form all filled in now
  10. So are RAD and IDTA are actually methods?
  11. Just filling out a form for DD and it asks for "Method" I have no idea what this means, DD studies IDTA syllabus and RAD Vocational exams, what should I put? Our dance school is closed for another week, so I don't really want to bother the teacher on her time off, so thought I would ask your opinion
  12. My DD is also very pale redhead, she has just discovered mac do a white foundation which can be mixed with other foundations to get her perfect colour match. I think it can only be bought in the pro shop though.
  13. Remember that the winning kids might have been doing that dance for 2 years, it really is just a bit of fun and opportunity to dance on a stage. Also some kids peak early, DD has friends that started doing festivals at age 5 and consistently won but will now possibly never win another medal as other kids have matured and generally place above them.
  14. Not sure if you already have one but I have a just Ballet one in smallest size, it's never been used. Cost £50 so wanting £40 inc P&P.
  15. Thank you for the information Dr Dance.
  16. Thanks so much, exactly what I was looking for ????
  17. That is the website I had seen but it's not been updated for a while, audition detail is for last year.
  18. Thanks for this, it is the peter & Shannon one I'm interested in.
  19. Our MIDS assessment is not until early May!
  20. Is MIDAS the same as midlands associates ? I have heard of a scheme that train once a month but not sure if they are the same. I can only find last years info on the Midlands website.
  21. I agree that marks are totally personal choice from one adjudicator to another, this was the same adjudicator in the same week. I have never really taken too much notice of marks before but overheard other dance mums discussing all England and marks required so thought I'd look into it. It's not the first time DD has qualified but as mentioned before our school doesn't do all England so not relevant to us.
