Congratulations Dormouse!! Belated wishes from me, apologies, but I have been following your achievements on social media, The Times and you also had a mention on Classic FM this week! I think I'm correct in saying you've visited us in our Southend store - a couple of the staff recognised you in the press coverage! I think you're now a famous ballerina! Sx

Probably too late, but the Just Ballet one is 110cm x

Started my Xmas shopping!!!!!
Sheila Beelam replied to Picturesinthefirelight's topic in Doing Dance
We hope to get the Assemble t-shirts back in the next week or so, plus a few extra styles and sizes. After speaking to Min about boys things, she has said that they will do a Plie for Pizza hoody in their next collection which will launch in September - we will certainly be stocking it! Sx -
That's strange Loulabelle as we also can have any WM style made to order for customers, but if they change their mind or send them back, we just add them to our stock. I guess not all shops would want to do that - but if the sizing is incorrect surely they should? Ah glad it arrived safely Pictures - if it's what I think it is, she will love it! Sx

Summer School Warning- Ecole Européenne de Danse Classique
Sheila Beelam replied to swanprincess's topic in Doing Dance
Goodness me! Just catching up on the forum and am shocked by what you've neen through Swanprincess! How can you do barre work when the flooring stops underneath where you stand at the barre! I too am glad you are home safe x -
Hi Peccopa and welcome! If you want to phone our shop in Southend tomorrow, our manage Fran can try and help you with fit! We too find that the WM styles vary in size. I've not found them vary between clours though! Leotard sizing is frustrating, though, we are forever comparing sizes for customers and debating the relative stretch between styles, to try and achieve a good fit! Shame your daughter's not in an 8-10y Elipse Pictures - that's the only size left in our £10 leotard sale! Best of luck Peccopa! Sx

Hi Hoglett, well done to your DD! She's obviously proficient on pointe to be doing it in her school show and if she is happy with her shoes, I would suggest changing nothing with regards to padding as that will change the fit of the shoe. However she could put surgical spirit on her feet each day to toughen up her skin and I would only advise additional protection of micropore tape on individual toes or Gaynor minden toe tape on particular toes showing areas of pressure. Sx

Hi Munchkin and congratulations on getting to ballet class - but as Fiz said, be warned, ballet is addictive! I've just agreed to be in a show with my adult class - it will be my first ever stage appearance and after dancing for 35 years, that's a huge step for me!! It does help to feel the part for class, I can't imagine not having a bun for class - I know lots of adults just wear ponytails, but it would annoy me so much when I turn! Anyway, for your outfit I would suggest a tank leotard and simple skirt to start, with maybe black tights if you don't feel ready for pink! It's funny, but pink tights is always the stumbling block for adults! That and the fact that without a few inches of see through chiffon around your hips, you feel naked I can't do class without a skirt, even though it covers hardly anything! Ballet is full of strange practices! Here's the link to our leotards https://www.justballet.co.uk/collections/ladies You can sort the leotards by type - camisole, long sleeve, tank etc We have revamped the site and I hope you find it easy to use! You may well spot a few BalletCo DDs on there too! Adult skirts are here: https://www.justballet.co.uk/collections/adult-skirts A basic black wrap is £7.99 or we can make to measure in a variety of prints. For tights, there are lots to choose from and everyone develops their favourite - my current favourite are Russian Pointe as the convertible tights have no annoying toe seam! https://www.justballet.co.uk/collections/tights I hope that helps, but just shout if you have any questions! Sheila x

Evening all The Bloch Endura convertible tights go up to a size E. They're not on our website yet but we have them in stock in the Wisbech store. If you want to give me a ring tomorrow I can discuss the size charts with you and see if we can find something suitable! We also have Gaynor Minden, Russian Pointe, Silky, Sansha, Danskin and Capezio tights, in store, so I'm sure we can find something suitable for you! Sheila x 01945 581534

Best London store for fitting first demi pointe shoes?
Sheila Beelam replied to MAK's topic in Doing Dance
We find both Grishko, Russian Pointe and Sansha soft blocks the most flattering for customers. I agree that the Bloch shoes come up big, but find they can suit a squarer, more solid foot. As Cara said, they're not weight bearing shoes, so comfort is the priority! With this in mind, a low vamp and steaming with a kettle or iron usually achieves a good result!- 35 replies

Thanks Lemongirl and Anna C! We do now stock Freed shoes and have a second shop in Wisbech, NE Cambs. Brands we routinely stock are: Grishko (2007, Pro flex, Nova, dream pointe, triumph) Merlet (Diva, Adagio) Russian Pointe (Rubin, encore, entrada pro, Almaz, Lumina, Brava) Bloch (Suprima, serenade, dramatica, balance European) Capezio (Aerial, Airess, glissade, Bella) Gaynor Minden Freed (classic pro, classic pro 90, studio) Sansha Debutante A few Capulet D30 and Cecilia Kerche.. And of course we can order other styles from the above suppliers We think having lots of styles from different brands to compare at the same time in one place, works best...but then we're biased! X

Novice question about breaking in new pointe shoes....
Sheila Beelam replied to ParentTaxi's topic in Doing Dance
Completely agree with Anna's advice, but would also suggest she speaks to her teacher. Sometimes students seem reluctant to talk to them, but their teacher knows their feet the best and if the fitter hasn't explained what to do, I think their teacher would be best at showing students how to do this Sx PS Lisa Howell's videos are excellent! -
Hi Shygirlsmum Tutu weights will vary depending on number of layers, type of net and bodice fabric/lining used, amount of decoration, whether it is hooped or not, there are no rules! A hooped tutu may have less net, as it is supported by the hoop, but then the hoop can add weight too! I think the most important thing is the fit. Tutus should fit like pointe shoes, becoming part of the dancer's body. The dancer should wear the tutu, the tutu should not wear the dancer - does that make sense? Movement is key, so get your DD to practice parts of her dance and if it feels right, weight is not an issue Sx

Yes! Picturesinthefirelight - the GM leotard is lovely! We have it in several colours - one of our best sellers http://www.justballet.co.uk/shop/ladies/gaynor-minden-tank-leotard/ The Capezio Bratek one is also popular with teachers too, as it does away with bra-straps showing in class! http://www.justballet.co.uk/shop/ladies/capezio-bratek-camisole-leotard/ Sx
