  1. These are very popular and if you can't find the size you need in adult boots it's worth looking at children's boots - same boot just a different label! Child large = UK 2-3 and child X-large is UK 4-5 About if you need more help x
  2. Thanks for posting Bailarin - just booked!
  3. Lovely I'll speak to an ex LFB dancer I know and see if I can get some answers xxx
  4. I'm standing in my kitchen with a large mug of tea and toasting your DD's good news!! (Should really get on with dinner..!)
  5. Sadly pups_mum she's 19 this Dec Great experiences doing swan lake and Giselle though Also good that there's no long wait for audition results...though the last hour does drag
  6. Great to hear they're returning to Southend, shame Hannah's 18 now! EYB is a fabulous opportunity for young dancers and worth every penny!
  7. Btw Lemongirl we're just under an hour from London Fenchurch St and next door to Thorpe Bay train station x
  8. Thanks everyone I would say it's hard to single out one particular make for narrow feet as each brand seems to have an increasing number of styles to suit different foot shapes. So saying you don't like Bloch or Grishko etc may actually mean you don't like the styles you've tried within that brand. Do shop around and ask to try on as many styles and brands that are available in your size. You think you've found the perfect shoe, then you try the next one and it's more perfect... Never settle for a shoe, you shouldn't be "sold" pointe shoes, you should be fitted with them If you come to JB, please bear in mind we only have a small shop with two qualified fitters, so please phone ahead to book an appointment Sx
  9. I think we have the bluebell Leo in that size - give the shop a ring in the morning 01702 307567. We can post out tomorrow 1st class Sx
  10. Gift voucher for Just Ballet? "Other dance shops are available" Sx
  11. I agree with the above. There should be no weight on the big toe (or any toes) in the shoe, the box should support the toes at their base and stop them from descending into the box and bearing weight. If the box is too big, there will be problems like you describe in new shoes. As a shoe "dies" and the box becomes softer or stretches, then bruised toe nails can result! I would take your shoes into your dance shop and ask for an appraisal. As Anjuli said you also need to make sure toe nails are short and do not extend over the end of your toes, as logic says there is more likelihood of your toe nails then bearing your weight - ouch! Sheila x
  12. Hey all I posted this in "tickets" this evening and am posting here too as it may appeal to you all as a great opportunity to see Mariinsky Ballet for a £1 donation!
  13. Oh my I've just watched her performance on YouTube in the dip dyed blue dress and it's gorgeous! (The dress an performance!) We're not in London but in Essex, an hour by train, would love to make this costume, PM me if interested Sx
  14. My thoughts are with you, as we thought DD would be needing heart surgery a few weeks ago, so can empathise and I'm sure everything will go smoothly x Sadly I can't help with accommodation as we are an hour from London. However if she needs anything sending up to summer school (eg emergency tights etc) just ask! Sx
  15. Well we have our bun pots and we also have a vanity case...bun pots are good for day to day use in ballet bags (created after my DD lost one too many bunheads bun pin) and the vanity case is great for festivals!
  16. Another vote for graze boxes - first heard about them here on the forum and now the girls and I race to the box when it arrives! Should have got them posted to my office
  17. We have a large following in Northern Ireland....so we're considering a pop up shop this summer for a few days - primarily aimed at pointe shoe fitting. Could you help us to decide if this is feasible by letting me know if you would be interested and what you would like to see - just Pointe shoes or other items too? Any suggestions for possible venues for 3-4days welcome too, so far I have my brother (who lives near Belfast) offering me a marquee We also have lots of customers in Australia...maybe next year https://m.facebook.com/story.php?story_fbid=734602543273764&id=320188388048517
  18. Try not to worry - I had to google them too, but it's certainly a fad...even if royalty are wearing them! http://fashion.telegraph.co.uk/article/TMG10919743/Loom-bands-out-of-the-playground-and-into-the-mainstream.html I agree with Anjuli, this could be a useful lesson in priorities and time management for your young DD. It's also completely normal for there to be a an all consuming trend..my girls were absorbed by many over the years, but they usually peaked around Christmas time and the item was then impossible to get hold of and sold to the desperate at inflated prices. I think £5 for some bands to create some pretty bracelets is harmless enough, it will pass! Sx
  19. I've had a peek at the links and I wonder how much give there is in the gel? I can see how holding the foot in place when on pointe would be supportive but the foot articulates so much in moving throught being flat to on pointe, surely the toes must be allowed to move? I'm lying in bed trying to imagine how my feet would feel doing pointe, with no room for movement and it's tricky I guess it may be similar to taping toes together and then filling the "space" with padding. But as Balleteacher says, I need to try it really before judging!! Glad it's helping your daughter though Pastel Sx
  20. Interesting.....I see what I'm going to be researching tonight! We are listening...boy's tunics made - just one design on the site, others in store. Underwear and Leo bras in research phase - but a selection of bra friendly Leo's in stock - phone for info. Still searching for the "right" wooden turner. Patterns and instruction books for tutu making also due on site soon! Large Leo's and custom made tutus available Too busy for ballet class at the moment!! Sx
  21. Thanks S&P I seem to remember that or a similar film and biceps were big! As an aside, my non DD (15) has been going to the gym for about 6 months and I commented she must be really strong now...then I foolishly challenged her to an arm wrestle lol. Oh my goodness I couldn't even shift her hand a millimetre!! Think I may suggest a career path for her in pointe shoes!
  22. Interesting reading, but strange that they all seem to be male? I know it's a highly physical job, but come on girls, surely someone with pointe experience could become a great maker?
