  1. I would suggest the SD16 from So Danca, Capezio Hanami or Cobra and Russian Pointe Vivante
  2. I’m lucky enough to find myself in Kiev at the end of August, with day times free....I’d like to take in some adult classes if possible - any recommendations for classes or anything else ballet related? (Kirov Opera House is a given!) Costume Museums, Dance shops maybe? Thank you! Sheila x
  3. Thank you Ms sunshine ☀️ Howmuch! If you want to look at our website and see anything you like, I can always measure them against the size of an RAD leo. Although if yours has been well loved it may have changed shape after all that washing, but certainly a good starting point
  4. Thank you LinNM We do gave lots of fancy leotards for little people and grown ups too! Last count there were over 100 styles! 😂 Working here and being a dancer is just too tempting! If you can’t get to the shop we also post in the UK and worldwide and are happy to help with size enquiries x
  5. Maybe the Degas leotards? There’s been lots of threads about these and you can find then on our site below The style 9501 and 9502 have the highest leg lines. Kr sheila
  6. Congrats to your DD Afab and great to hear your DD is enjoying her dancing career Ecarte I attended my own DD's graduation this week (non-dancing degree) and it truly is a great achievement for these youngsters to battle through teenage years, studying, growing up and generally surviving the circus of life in a social media spotlight these days! Hats off to them all X (And of course thanks to the taxi drivers, financiers and storage facilities. My house currently has boxes and bags all over from two daughters who say it's not really worth unpacking as they're heading back to uni soon for further study.....yes in three months!!...but I would like to see the dining room/hall/sitting room floor before then )
  7. Most brands have their main shoe styles in different widths - generally widths 1-5, A-E or X-XXXXX etc, which cater for different widths of feet. Then there are different styles within each brand that are differing shapes, tapered or square, high crown or low, etc, so therefore catering for different foot shapes. It's hard to therefore categorise a certain brand as suiting a narrow or wide foot, or a certain shape. Sometimes this judgement is just based on what style a shop can offer you from that particular brand. My advice would be to try on as many as you can! Be wary also of fitting shoes in very hot weather. Feet swell, particularly towards the end of the day after traipsing around shoe shopping for hours! If anyone needs any specific advice, feel free to message me, or book a fitting online x
  8. Sorry Peanut, we have three colours in stock at the moment: Seafoam (turquoise green) Gunmetal (dark grey) and Dream (pale grey). You should be able to select your size and colour from the drop down boxes. For a slender 14 yr old I would suggest the XS size. We have a delivery due next week with other colours - we'll announce their arrival on FB, Insta and Twitter! Sx
  9. The Dream will be on our next order, but that won’t be placed for a few weeks x We have Lilac, cranberry, Ocean and Pink Sugar on their way
  10. We have three colours of Bullet Pointe skirts in stock now, with another four colours on their way from the US (Their pastel trash shorts are also fab!) ❤️
  11. Tragic heart felt condolences and I have of course signed for you xxx
  12. Hey Google “horse hair” it’s nothing to do with horse hair but is a plastic mesh in a diamond form, used in millinery. You can get it in different colours to match your hair - or buy white and spray it. Then overstitch it securely all around the bottom of the crown, and you then use the horse hair to push through hundreds of bobby pins! Use bobby pins with the wavy side underneath for the best grip x
  13. Hi Shygirlsmum Degas Leo’s are cut for a dancer’s body shape Nice high legs, particularly style 9502. We are the UK stockist so do message me if you have any specific questions. You can view a wide range of them on our website and they also do lovely warm ups too. The lead time can be long if you want a specific style/size/colour that we don’t have in stock. Summer is the worst as the factory closes for the whole of August. I’m back in the shop on Thursday if you would like me to check stock on any particular leo Best Wishes sheila x
  14. I agree with the above ideas! Size charts are helpful, but the best thing is to lay the new leo ok top of one that you know fits. Sizes vary from brand to brand and also from style to style within each brand! I often lay leotards on top of each other and send photos to parents to help with sizing! 😂 Just shout if you need any more help on specific styles x
  15. Hi everyone! I’m having problems with my pirouettes too. When I releve I’ve always had a little ricochet - so I’ll snatch up to a high Demi, then go down a bit and then stabilise back where I was. Does that make sense? Surely it’s got to be throwing my turns off? I believe I have strong ankles and I remember a teacher pointing this ricochet out to me about 10yrs who, so it’s probably been with me forever. I also have a tendancy to rise into a pirouette rather than releve, which I’m wondering has developed subconsciously due to the ricochet? Any ideas on cause or correction please? Thank you! X
  16. So very sorry to read this DS I’ve sent you a PM xxx
  17. Hi Tuco I don’t think you need to worry about getting padding before the fitting. Your daughter will try on lots of different shoes and she may find she likes different types of pads in different makes of shoes. She may also prefer no pad in some shoes. The fitter should have a variety of padding for her to try, like Anna describes. There are no rules on what type should feel right - all feet are different. Don’t be worried that she will damage her toes if she doesn’t have any padding. She will damage her toes if she has ill fitting shoes. Incidentally, if you are fitted without a pad, be wary about trying to then wear a pad in the shoes as it may make the fit too tight. Similarly if you are fitted with a pad and then try and dance without it, you may find the shoe is too big and you sink into it! Sit back and listen to your fitter and your daughter’s feedback and enjoy the experience! Sheila x
  18. Thank you for all the recommendations everyone *blushing* Without you all being there 6-7 years ago there would be no Just Ballet xxx
  19. The ballet final of this competition is televised this Friday on BBC4 at 8pm Good luck to the five finalists!
  20. Hi all, I've just treated myself to a lovely ballet themed sweatshirt from Zara and some pretty "ballet" shoes. They have a few bits with dancers on, may be useful for pressies? https://www.zara.com/uk/en/woman/sweatshirts/oversized-ballerina-sweatshirt-c364001p4478014.html https://www.zara.com/uk/en/trf/shoes/slingback-ballerinas-with-sateen-ribbons-c358035p4240575.html Sx
  21. We find the Gaynor are fairly indeustry standard with their S,M,L sizes. Degas have their own sizing system. T0 for petite frame size UK6, T1 for a longer body UK 6-8, SIze T2 for a UK 8-10, T3 for 10-12 etc. I'll try and attach a size chart here:
