  1. By post, I may be wrong but I think only the Monday auditions have had their results so far.
  2. Did the director attend any of the other US prelims? We were there too yesterday, just for a fun day out really! There were some lovely 'bodies' there, so in my opinion he missed out! But is that enough at this stage? I assume a certain level of ability is required alongside facility etc? Or will they still take someone raw because they have the 'look' required, what ever that may be. DD enjoyed herself despite the couple of very pushy dancers who seemed to have no regard for audition behavior and etiquette!
  3. My DD hasn't worn a skirt for Intermediate or Advanced Foundation and won't be wearing one for Advanced 1. Its optional.
  4. No news here yet and we were Monday. Sorry I don't know the answer re scholarships, they did say they would be calculated on the dame basis as DADA though.
  5. I know of three from my DD's audition (my DD included) but I expect there are more.We were told they would see approx 60 for up to 30 places (boys and girls).
  6. I'm estimating now as DD is at school but I think about 20 as DD said they did things in fives and there were 3 or 4 not there. Class was taken by the 1st year girls teacher (I think, can confirm later) there were 4 on the panel, the director of dance, the third year girls teacher a boys teacher and one other who I'm not sure of. As we didn't know all the candidates I can't say for sure if ages but I would say all 15/16.
  7. Results came by email Dancermum. Karen, it was a fairly basic ballet class very similar in length and only slightly more difficult than Elmhurst. Similar exercises at barre and in the centre, flexibility tests and no pointe work. Everything done in twos or small groups so everyone seen equally.
  8. Thank you both. We don't qualify for the maintenance grant. I didn't realise that Elmhurst contribute towards the accommodation too. I guess no one knows the full accommodation cost then?
  9. Hi Karen Thanks for your reply. I wasn't really think of it in terms of not boarding (if DD was lucky enough to get a place! Haha) I just wanted to find out how much the boarding element of the fees is? I know that Dada is only towards the tuition fees so wanted to know how much we would have to pay for her to board as I can work out rough Dada calculation.
  10. Can anyone tell me what the fees, excluding boarding and before all the extras such as exam fees, are for Elmhurst 6th form please? Can't seem to find the information on the website. I'm assuming its not just as straightforward as deducting a day place from a boarding place? Although the figures I have for that are from last year.
  11. I'm pretty sure you can ring them and audition in ang class if there is space. If you are successful you can start straight away. Worth a call, the classes are quite nice.
  12. I have four of these cotton/lycra leortards for sale. They are ideal for auditions as have a high cut leg Two are size 2 and two are a size 2a and have been worn and washed once each. My DD wore one (Royal) for RBS lower school/MA audition as it was recommended by her JA teacher and the others for different associate programme auditions/NYB audition. They are not lined. I'd like £8 each inc P&P Link attached I have one Navy and one Carnation (claret) in 2a's and a Royal and Navy in size 2. http://www.dancewear-arabesque.co.uk/shop-item-Carla---cotton-lycra-Leotard_3_39.php
  13. I guess not everyone wants to share all at this stage. My DD is auditioning but I'm not one to post too much detail and haven't got anything to add to what others have already posted. Happy to talk on a PM with you or anyone else if you'd like to????? We haven't done Rambert yet though so can't help with that.
  14. The theme from Forest Gump is very pretty and can be cut easily. I have heard it used for ballet but not often so not too common. Also the sound track to Pride and Predjudice is worth a listen too.
  15. Tring Classical Academy may not have the kudos of the RBS Associate schemes, but it is definitely as good and I would venture to say in some ways better. My DD has done both and has always preferred Tring CBA and felt she was stretched more technically. That's not to say she didn't enjoy the RBS Associates though.
  16. Oh yes you are right! I had forgotten about that one. I did purchase a red programme and was sat in the second row of the amphi. I was given the slip in sheet with my white cast/plot leaflet.
  17. I am glad to be able to read Floss' post as it wasn't me that took offence to it. I am no expert and am relatively new to regularly watching the RB. My disappointment merely stemmed from having seen Golding in Swan Lake with Osipova and specifically booking to see him with Lamb in Sleeping Beauty. I hope I will get the opportunity to watch him when he is recovered from his injury. I am now looking forward to the reviews from this evening performance.
  18. My DD also wears Russians although sometimes customised Freeds. The Russians she wears are definitely not constructed in the same way as Gaynors which she has tried and could not get on with. She has high arches and insteps like Taxi's DD and they are the only shoes we've found that hug her feet well, Gaynors didn't despite being pre-arched. Different shoes suit different feet but I will say we were advised by a top London dance physio for DD not to wear Gaynors for similar reasons as Canary has said. This may only apply to my DD though, I wouldn't make a sweeping statement and suggest that the advice we were given applies to anyone else.
  19. The ones i have received are completely broken and filthy, very well worn. Also belonged to a very young artist of the company who I had never heard of and had to look up. Oh well was all in s good cause and she may be a principal one day!????
  20. Well I was very much looking forward to seeing Golding and had booked specifically to see him. However I am more than happy with his replacement.
  21. No Pictures is right, the stronger the foot is the less need for a hard back. A bendy foot needs a strong back until strength has been built up. My DD used to break Grishko hard backs very quickly, she now wears a Russian Pointe medium back and can wear them until they are fairly soft. She used to need a hardened wing as well but she doesn't need to Shellac her Russians. Flexible ankles, high arches and bendy feet are very pleasing to the eye, but are high maintenance and hard on the bank balance!
  22. Lucky you, my DD was going through a pair a week for a while. She has very bendy feet, so now they have strengthened they do last at least a month!
