  1. It's maybe best for the DC to just turn up and do their best, and forget about all the hearsays.
  2. I'd just pay the £30,000 Fred, I'd still have £60,000 left.
  3. You'll get used to it when you're further down the track amos.
  4. Ah, I thought it might have been the same year as us, but ours was two years ago. It maybe does suggest it's similar year on year though.
  5. Yeah I should have mentioned they didn't take any of them sadly for us, but the competition is very good year on year, so it's just a case of battling on until the next opportunity comes around. In the meantime there's always the festivals, IDTA events etc etc, to keep us all going, until the next audition finals come around.
  6. Looking back when my GDD got to Yr 8 final for WL, there were only 4 girls. 2 from the UK 1 from Sweden and a Spanish girl.
  7. I don't which is worse, to get a no in the first auditions, or to get to the finals every year at every audition and then get a no. The journey goes on though, and as long as the DC are getting good quality training, there will be still be plenty of opportunities down the track.
  8. He used to come to the City where I lived quite often, as that's where Mick Ronson lived at the time, I never got to meet him personally but know one or two who did, and he was aparantly a top bloke. I think him and Mick complemented each other, so sad that neither of them are here now, both probably together somewhere near Mars maybe.
  9. My son started having driving lessons when he was 17, and after just 6 lessons he broke his leg playing rugby. In those days it was common for some of the driving schools to apply for the test early, so when it came round you didn't have to waste time and money having lessons you might not need. (Not a good business plan I know) When he was fit enough to start driving again, I advised him to take the test as it wasn't that much if he didn't pass. He only had time for a couple of hours refresher lessons, and guess what he passed, although he may have been lucky, I'm not sure, but it was worth the gamble.
  10. Don't forget bluebell, the government receive around £35 million every week from the national lottery, that's a lot of money to go round. Since the lottery began, something like 30 or so billion, yes billion has gone to football for instance, and other sports, and of course the arts has received a massive amount too. I would think a lot of the grants we thank the government for, is coming from the people, so maybe we are entitled to them.
  11. It seems the younger you are the easier you find things like driving etc, I had a little add up of all the youngsters (17ish) in the family and close friends over the last few years, and do you know every single one of them passed their driving test first time. We couldn't think of one who didn't, but one or two who were quite older had a few problems, so it seems there is a pattern there.
  12. Did she accept the offer of Tring Lema?
  13. I have both, but overall I prefer MS. I too upgraded to Windows 10, but soon went back to 7, as there's no way to control updates, or at least there wasn't then. Most seem to think it's a very good OS, all the best bits of 7 and 8 apparantly.
  14. The problems he will have Peanut, are the injuries he will without doubt get playing rugby, even the very minor ones will interfere with a dancing career / hobby. Both my son and son in law played professional rugby league for many years, and my son in particular had some horrific injuries from time to time, that would almost certainly have ended a dance career. I just had to chuckle to myself thinking of him dancing the role of Prince Siegfried, with his fingers pointing in all directions, due to the many dislocations over the years. I know he is only 10, but if he intends to take his dancing as far as he can, I would strongly advise him not playing rugby. On the other hand if his rugby comes first, and his dancing is only intended to be a hobby, then I agree he should go for it.
  15. Just a thought CS, but when I was into running a few years ago, I changed from my usual running shoes to another make that had a built up section for some reason on the side where the planta ligament runs. I ended up being in a lot of pain for quite a while, but I'm sure at his young age, he will recover sooner rather than later. I think the doctor was being a little negative, regarding his attitude to the problem. Like has been said previously, a recognised sports injury physio will help enormously with the healing process. Good luck to the lad, as it is painful.
  16. Sorry Busymum, I should have said year 10's.
  17. When you apply for a new job, the stress involved is usually thinking about not being successful. In my eldest grandaughters situation it was a little different. She applied for three different positions, and was offered all three, then it's decisions decisions decisions. She ended up taking one with a little less pay now, but more chances of going further up the ladder in management later, and only time will tell whether she made the right choice.
  18. It's quite surprising to me, that cats kill 55 millions birds in one year, in the UK alone.
  19. I certainly wouldn't have fancied stopping this mountain of a man when I played. A true great, RIP.
