  1. Nah I didn't get chance Melody, far too many other things going on at present. I've lost a little bit on the golf scene at the minute, but what's the new handicapping system all about? I used to love playing in the Alliance comps, even the ones right through the winter months, and had quite a lot of success in them, both as a team member and an individual. I understand you get 90% of your handicap as opposed to 3/4, it was hard enough playing someone say off 14, but now it's even harder. I know someone who has a handicap of say 5 (me) is supposed to be a better player than someone 14, but there were a lot of bandits around on the old system, so like I said it will be even tougher now for the low players. What's your thoughts, as I may be reading it wrong?
  2. I watched it Melody, and after the first two play off holes both on 18, I really thought Rory had blown it. What a putt that was by Ryan Moore on the second PO hole, to half it. The shot for me was Rory's second on 18, hitting it to about 6 ft from 211 yds, the height he got was incredible. It made me want to go get my clubs out and start playing again, I think I might have a bash at the range sometime this week.
  3. Yes I do understand as we live out in the wilderness, although we do have mains gas thank goodness. I took a chance hoping the traffic wouldn't be too bad, and luckily we got through both ways without a hitch, so feeling very relaxed now. It's my turn to travel to Senior Associates in London tomorrow, so it will all start again in the morning, it should be fairly quiet though.
  4. I suppose many will have a rant about children being driven to school, when some live near enough to walk. What was the reason for the excavation Pups-mum, it might have been a gas leak for instance that needed repairing quickly? I'm taking my wife to the hairdressers soon, and will have to do a detour to avoid the school runners, as they seem to park where they like and the hold ups can be horrendous. Sorry for having my rant, but look at it from both sides.
  5. Don't worry Pixiewoo, it's common sense that counts in life.
  6. The quality of some mobile phone cameras nowadays is amazing, easily capable of taking money shots. I think I would just smile to myself knowing " I took that shot"
  7. I used to be a keen photographer a few years ago, and seem to remember if I happened to get a saver, I would register it just in case. This would prevent anyone from using it without my permission. If I was working for someone else, as I did from time to time, then they would own the copywrite. I reckon it would be nigh on impossible to stop anyone using a pic without a copywrite on it so to speak, as they could just say they took the photo.
  8. Yeah I agree, my post seems to have ended up on the wrong thread somehow. My apologies.
  9. There seems to be a preference of quantity on this thread, all well and good so long as the quality is there. Practising bad habits does more harm the more hours you put in, and future burn out could be a problem too, it's a fine line.
  10. It is a lot harder for them without doubt, but it also helps to put a little resilience their way. My GDD was born on 30th August, and she was a couple of months premature, but after struggling to even survive, we wouldn't whinge about it at all.

If your anywhere near, it might be worth having a nice meal in the Train Bleu Restaurant inside the Gare De Lyon station.
  12. Enjoy enjoy enjoy, oh and maybe start saving up!
  13. Isn't it possible to do both without creating any problems Lisa? I don't think the majority of young dancers getting quality ballet training, who also attend festivals for fun, get carried away by any success they might have.
  14. I don't know how old your DD is joyofdance, but a lot of young dancers gain places at auditions on potential rather than present ability.
  15. Please don't think I'm name dropping here but, a few weeks ago I asked Kevin O'Hare about the reputation the RB had of only taking on board dancers with "there" type of body. He assured me that recently they were taking dancers on with all shapes and sizes. I know only time will tell whether this trend continues, as I have no reason whatsoever to question his statement.
  16. I think a lot of young dancers would go to dance class every spare minute they have, as they love it so much. Don't forget though as regards training, it's not necessarily the quantity, but quality that counts. It's far better practicing say 8 hours doing it right, rather than 3 times that with some bad habits.
  17. I can see where you're coming from alison, the London games were marvellous, is it really four years ago? On another note, I find it incredible, some of decisions of the Olympic Committee or whoever. The farcical events of the Russian team for instance, golf taking part, (darts next maybe) Professionals versus amateurs in the boxing, etc etc.
  18. Does a young dancer have to be a little special to get a place in this SS?
  19. Fine by me, you're probably right.
  20. The way some of the other members of the EU seem very unsettled, and pushing for referendums, it just might end up as it was originally intended, a trade agreement that unfortunately went off the radar, due to power mad politicians.
  21. If there is a second referendum, and the remain win, do we then make it best out of three? What a farce, the people voted so we should accept it. Personally I voted to remain, and to be honest I was almost 50 / 50 at the ballet box. We don't seem to be doing as bad as the remain party suggested, and quite a few countries are queuing up to set up tariff free trade deals with us, we'll see.
  22. I'm looking forward to seeing Anna Nikulina on Saturday, ( Fingers crossed ) it should be a very good weekend.
  23. I got a nice birthday treat this week, a seat in the Donald Gordon Grand Tier for the Bolshoi. I'll see if I can spot any forum members.
  24. I find that amazing Quintus, so I could take a 300mm f2.8 lens into the arena?
