  1. Here's the link to the beginning of the discussion. You'll need to scroll down past the comments on the Emerging Dancer http://www.forum-dansomanie.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=3172&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=285
  2. The tickets for Romeo and Juliet at the Royal Festival Hall don't go on sale till next week, June 21 for Friends of ENB and June 22 for general public booking. Tomorrow's booking date is only for Friends of ENB to book events and also to purchase tickets for My First Cinderella in venues other than the Peacock Theatre.
  3. The ROH website lists the casts in the order of their roles in the piece. I've attempted to reproduce the listings side by side below. eg Ed Watson has the same role as Nicol Edmonds and so on down the list: Edward Watson Nicol Edmonds Ryoichi Hirano Reece Clarke Alexander Campbell James Hay Luca Acri Sander Blommaert Tristan Dyer Fernando Montaño Paul Kay Marcelino Sambé Eric Underwood David Donnelly Matthew Ball Benjamin Ella Calvin Richardson Lukas Bjørneboe Brændsrød

  5. It didn't have its own thread. That's possibly why you missed it. Here's the initial posting (the mistake in Fille casting was later corrected) http://www.balletcoforum.com/index.php?/topic/12179-royal-ballet-201617-season/?p=169683
  6. Tierney Heap has danced a principal role this season. She was cast as Carmen in the Acosta production. This season, as well as Hermione, Claire Calvert has danced the Gypsy Girl in Two Pigeons. She has also done a number of major roles in previous seasons. She has danced Gamzatti in Bayadère, Lilac Fairy in Beauty, Mistress in Manon, Mercedes in Don Q as well as the principal role in Aeternum. http://www.roh.org.uk/people/claire-calvert
  7. http://www.roh.org.uk/news/promotions-and-joiners-at-the-royal-ballet-for-201617 "Promotions and joiners have been announced for the 2016/17 Season. Director Kevin O’Hare has made the following promotions for the forthcoming Season: Alexander Campbell, Francesca Hayward, Ryoichi Hirano and Akane Takada have been promoted to Principal, the Company’s highest rank. Claire Calvert, Yasmine Naghdi and Beatriz Stix-Brunell are promoted to First Soloists.Matthew Ball and Mayara Magri are promoted to Soloists. Tierney Heap was promoted to First Artist mid-season and is also now promoted to Soloist. Reece Clarke, David Donnelly, Benjamin Ella, Isabella Gasparini, Anna Rose O’Sullivanand Demelza Parish are promoted to First Artist. Joining the Company at the start of the Season will be Joseph Sissens from The Royal Ballet School. All the 2015/16 Aud Jebsen Young Dancers - Lukas Bjørneboe Brændsrød, Harry Churches, Leo Dixon, Isabel Lubach and Julia Roscoe - will join the Company from The Royal Ballet School on permanent contracts as Artists. The Royal Ballet welcomes seven dancers to the Company for the 2016/17 Aud Jebsen Young Dancers Programme. The programme provides an opportunity for recently graduated dancers to receive a year’s contract to work alongside the corps de ballet of The Royal Ballet. In addition the dancers are offered mentoring and coaching and have the opportunity to perform with the Company. Next Season’s Aud Jebsen Young Dancers are Joseph Aumeer, Estelle Bovay, Maria Luisa Castillo Yoshida, Arianna Maldini, Giacomo Rovero, Francisco Serrano and Charlotte Tonkinson, all from The Royal Ballet School. Vincenzo Di Primo joins the Company as Prix de Lausanne dancer. Charlotte Edmonds will continue with The Royal Ballet for the 2016/17 Season for a second year on The Royal Ballet Young Choreographer Programme mentored by Kevin O’Hare and Wayne McGregor. The Young Choreographer Programme is a position for an emerging choreographer to shadow Royal Ballet and visiting choreographers and utilize the Company resources to create work." Very well deserved promotions. Congratulations to them all!
  8. In the performances I saw last week, she and Begoña Cao (also a Principal) were in the pas de douze in Act 1 and were lead swans in the white acts but they were not in the general corps. ENB has often used principals in these roles, especially for Swan Lake in the round since the numbers needed are often multiplied by as many as four (eg in this version, the pas de trois becomes a pas de douze)
  9. I've found that, if you select e-tickets but don't download them, you can then go to the box office and they will print all the tickets for you. You definitely don't need to wait for the day of the performance to have them printed.
  10. The performance database to the rescue again: http://www.rohcollections.org.uk/production.aspx?production=12205&row=1 In 1996 the other husband was played by Irek Mukhamedov. Edited to say that it's a great pity that this database only goes up to 2012.
  11. If the weather stays warm, people will need to look for us on the other part of the terrace. All the tables in front of the restaurant are currently being used for outdoor dining.
  12. Les Biches was last revived eleven years ago (2005) http://www.rohcollections.org.uk/production.aspx?production=1749&row=0
  13. The Royal Ballet has also gained a new Artist, Mica Bradbury. She graduated from the Royal Ballet School in 2014, went initially to the Royal Ballet of Flanders and joined the Royal Ballet earlier this month. http://www.roh.org.uk/people/mica-bradbury
  14. http://www.evening-kazan.ru/articles/vladimir-shklyarov-v-mariinskom-teatre-ya-uzhe-stanceval-vse-chto-hotel.html If I've understood correctly, according to the google translation of the above link, Vladimir Shklyarov and Maria Shirinkina are taking a year's sabbatical from the Mariinsky to guest with the Bayerisches Staatsballett during the 2016/17 season. edited to correct link
  15. Whatever one’s personal opinion of Liam Scarlett’s Frankenstein, I think we have to take account of the fact that audiences have absolutely loved it. Last night, at the Ballet Association, Kevin O’Hare referred to the standing ovations it has been receiving in the Opera House. In addition, going by the numerous positive comments on the ‘your reaction’ page on the ROH website, the cinema screening was clearly a huge success http://www.roh.org.uk/news/your-reaction-frankenstein-live-in-cinemas-and-on-bp-big-screens
  16. It looks like it will be streamed here: http://emerging-dancer.ballet.org.uk/
  17. Can anyone explain why references to the winner of ENB’s Emerging Dancer 2014 are always limited to the name of Junor Souza who was actually the “joint winner” alongside Alison McWhinney. (scroll down in the above announcement to find the names of past winners) Here is the DanceTabs announcement of the 2014 result: http://dancetabs.com/2014/05/english-national-ballet-emerging-dancer-competition-2014-winners-announced/ Even the ENB official website only lists Alison’s 2013 nomination for the award and ignores the fact that she was the 2014 joint winner. http://www.ballet.org.uk/the-company/dancers/alison-mcwhinney/ I find this very puzzling.
  18. Last year there was some discussion of an announcement that Natalia Osipova would be returning to the Bolshoi as a guest artist. http://www.balletcoforum.com/index.php?/topic/10984-natalia-osipova-to-return-to-the-bolshoi-as-guest-artist/ Maybe that's what is meant?
  19. Sadly they're not performing at High Wycombe this year. Edited to say what a pity this is for those of us who live within travelling distance of High Wycombe and to encourage them to include The Swan in next season's tour.
  20. Here's the interview mentioned by Jacqueline: http://www.nytimes.com/2010/06/18/arts/dance/18osipova.html
  21. They've started to load it: http://www.roh.org.uk/productions/la-fille-mal-gardee-by-frederick-ashton http://www.roh.org.uk/productions/anastasia-by-kenneth-macmillan Edit: just noticed opening night of Fille is Morera/Muntagirov but thereafter she dances with Zucchetti and he dances with Nuñez - possible typo? Other casting not loaded yet but here are the links for when it's done: http://www.roh.org.uk/mixed-programmes/chroma-new-wayne-mcgregor-carbon-life http://www.roh.org.uk/productions/the-nutcracker-by-peter-wright
  22. Details here http://www.dominiontheatre.com/theatre/american-paris/ and tickets are already on sale. March performances are previews.
