Your memories are correct. Here are four 1992 casts from the ROH performance database Mary is danced throughout by both Viviana Durante and Leanne Benjamin http://www.rohcollections.org.uk/performance.aspx?performance=14693&row=31 http://www.rohcollections.org.uk/performance.aspx?performance=20211&row=34 In Lesley Collier's cast and also in Gillian Revie's cast, the young Mary is danced by Michelle Davis http://www.rohcollections.org.uk/performance.aspx?performance=20203&row=33 http://www.rohcollections.org.uk/performance.aspx?performance=20222&row=37

Bluebird replied to SPD444's topic in Performances seen & general discussions
Thanks, John. I'm there again next week and will be interested to see this closed gallery and to work out why It was not visible to me from my position in the circle.- 71 replies

Are you sure, Alison? I don't remember seeing a third tier and all on line descriptions of the seating in the theatre mention two levels only.- 71 replies

An American in Paris: London, 2017

I was told by someone who sat at the back of the stalls that the acoustic was very poor because of the overhang. Apparently the sound there is somewhat muffled. If you want to hear the music at its best, you'd be better off at the back of the circle. As for the view, the last time I was in the Dominion, I walked up to the back of the circle to see what the view was like from there. It seemed reasonably good and felt closer to the stage than the seats at the back of the amphitheatre at the ROH.- 71 replies

I have a spare ticket for the May 11 Mayerling (Watson Osipova Lamb Yanowsky Hayward Nuñez Campbell) It’s a stalls circle bench seat (C18) and is £34. It’s classed as restricted view but I’ve sat in that area before for Mayerling and have been surprised how good the view is for that particular production. If interested, please post here and also send me a PM.

Australian Ballet in cinemas
Bluebird replied to Alice Shortcake's topic in Ballet / Dance news & information
With intervals, the running time is around two and a half hours. However, since it's a filmed production which was never broadcast live, the intervals might well be abbreviated. Also, there's no way of knowing whether or not there will be any extras (interviews...etc)- 26 replies

Youth America Grand Prix 2017
Bluebird replied to capybara's topic in Ballet / Dance news & information
I'm pretty sure Sergei Polunin was a winner while at the RBS. I think it would have been in 2006, the year he also won the Prix de Lausanne. Melissa Hamilton also won the YAGP just before she joined the Royal Ballet (2007?) edit: I've just done a search and discovered that Kimin Kim (of the Mariinsky) is also a former winner. -
Sorry, I've only just seen this, John. I can't find a way to insert an attachment to this post so will email you a screenshot of a quoted post in the US format.

Since the software has been upgraded I’ve noticed a minor change which could lead to confusion. When the date of a quote is given, the format used is now: month/day (US format) as opposed to: day/month (UK format ) eg March 30 is written 3/30 Might this be due to a setting on my computer or is it a feature of the new software? If it is a feature of the new software, it could, in theory, lead to confusion with a date such as 5/4 which would normally mean April 5 but, if written in the US format would mean May 4.

Royal Ballet 2017/18 season
Bluebird replied to jmhopton's topic in Ballet / Dance news & information
The last run of Giselle did take place in 2016 but in the 2015/16 season (February-April 2016). The new run is due to begin in January 2018 so it will, in fact, have missed a season.- 222 replies

The last time a large number of RBS students entered the Genée (in 2010) they were given a 'crash' course in the RAD syllabus to enable them to take part. -
Upcoming DVD/Blu-ray Releases
Bluebird replied to charliewise's topic in Ballet / Dance news & information
I imagine it will be a DVD of the performances recorded in Paris last year and shown on US TV earlier this year. Details are in this press release: http://www.thirteen.org/13pressroom/press-release/great-performances-new-york-city-ballet-paris/ -
Eireen is at the top of the list on Sunday's cast sheet (when Emily Suzuki was the Chosen One) so I think it's unlikely to mean anything.

On several occasions I have sat in the block next to the seats which have been removed. I have sat there for opera and also for Romeo and Juliet and Sleeping Beauty. The space has, on each of these occasions, been occupied by musicians. -
ENB Announces Spring/Summer 2017 Season
Bluebird replied to Bruce Wall's topic in Ballet / Dance news & information
Actually, Capybara, I'm the one in the wrong. I've posted the casting in the thread for the new season. That's definitely the wrong place for it! Maybe a moderator could put that right? [Mod's note: moved to this thread from the ENB 17/18 season announcement thread.] -
