  1. Sunday May 6 at 9pm (MacMillan) and 10pm (Michael Clark) : http://www.radiotimes.com/tv-programme/e/ghsxjq/ballets-dark-knight---sir-kenneth-macmillan/ http://www.radiotimes.com/tv-programme/e/ghsxjt/michael-clarks-to-a-simple-rock-n-roll---song/ Edited to add that I just had another look at the Radio Times listings and, when I clicked on the unnamed item at 10.55, I found 'Duet', a short film featuring Yasmine Naghdi and Beatriz Stix-Brunell. http://www.radiotimes.com/tv-programme/e/ghsxjs/duet/

  4. No way of knowing if they'll make any changes but here are the timings from 2012: Das Rheingold 150 minutes No Interval Die Walküre Act 1 67 minutes Interval 30 minutes Act II 95 minutes Interval 80 minutes Act III 73 minutes Siegfried Act 1 85 minutes Interval 30 minutes Act II 80 minutes Interval 75 minutes Act III 90 minutes Götterdämmerung Act 1 122 minutes Interval 40 minutes Act II 67 minutes Interval 75 minutes Act III 80 minutes Note to moderators: maybe these Ring postings should be moved to the Opera and Music forum?
  5. Apparently the seating arrangement isn't permanent. From the same page on the ROH website: "The Linbury seating will be able to be configured to suit both steep and shallow rakes for ballet and opera performances as well as being able to move position to suit end-on, traverse and flat floor stagings."
  6. From the ROH website: "There will be a variety of ticket prices available for both standing room and seated. The number of standing places will be slightly reduced from the current set-up, but the comfort of the seating and quality of the sightlines and acoustics will be improved dramatically, providing an all-round better experience for visitors." http://www.roh.org.uk/about/open-up/faqs
  7. Edited to quote Lizbie1's post as this doesn't make sense without it (as my post has appeared on a different page): "Thanks for the explanation - I must say I'm surprised there would have been room for longer rows: it didn't seem that way to me!" I imagine the screen and the staircase by the side of the higher numbered seats would have been repositioned.
  8. The rows were originally longer. When I bought my tickets, the rows had 21 seats in them. They reconfigured the seating so as to have rows of 19 seats. My end of row seats were originally numbered 21. I was reseated in seats numbered 19 (so as still to be on the end of the row). Presumably they put in the extra row so as to make up for the loss of two seats per row. When I saw the layout of the Pit, it occurred to me that a possible reason for these changes was that the piano (which was on the side of the higher numbered seats) might have obscured the view from seats 20 and 21.
  9. I just found your source, Lizbie 1. Here's a Google translation of part of an Osipova interview (the highlighting is mine): "Well, I have a lot of plans and projects. After Peter in London, I have Swan, Manon and Giselle with my beloved partner David Holberg. And in Sadler's Wells I will have my own project. I really love the choreographer Anthony Tudor - and at last I will dance his "Lilac Garden". Even in the program "Other Dances" Robbins, I already danced in Moscow, but I want to work on them properly. And - about a miracle! - Ratmansky agreed to put the duo for fifteen minutes specially for me. And for David, I hope." https://translate.google.com/translate?hl=en&sl=auto&tl=en&u=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.kommersant.ru%2Fdoc%2F3534359
  10. Yesterday afternoon's performance of Manon has so far passed without comment. Possibly it wasn't seen by many forum members. In my opinion, Melissa Hamilton and Nehemiah Kish gave an inspired performance. In particular, there was an astonishing amount of detail in Melissa Hamilton's portrayal of Manon and Nehemiah Kish's Des Grieux was full of warmth and passion. It was good to see Valentino Zucchetti back on stage as an excellent Lescaut and to see Meaghan Hinkis make her debut as his Mistress. Luxury casting to have both Bennett Gartside and Gary Avis on stage as Monsieur G.M. and the Gaoler. I was interested, but not surprised, to hear that a number of audience members had remarked that it was one of the best performances they'd ever seen of the work.
  11. I've sent you a PM on behalf of a friend who is looking for a Saturday matinée ticket
  12. I think that most of the places which are in grey on the online price mapping tool are Friday Rush or student places. As JohnS says, the prices of those places can be found on the multicoloured price maps posted last week by Bangorballetboy http://www.balletcoforum.com/applications/core/interface/file/attachment.php?id=259
  13. From Valentino Zucchetti's Facebook page: "I can finally confirm that next Thursday I will be coming back onto The Royal Opera House stage after 3 moths off dancing ,due to injury. I couldn’t be happier to come back with one of my all time favourite roles, Lescaut in our current run of Manon along side debutant Meaghan Grace Hinkis ,as my mistress ,and Melissa Hamilton and Nehemiah Kish as Manon and Des Grieux." edited to check if it's OK to quote directly from Facebook. If not, will moderators please edit. Thanks.
  14. Thank you, Tomoko. I just checked and the segment starts at around 18 minutes 42 seconds into the programme with the music from Laiderette (Frank Martin's Petite Symphonie Concertante). There is then a brief interview with Viviana Durante followed by some music from Danses Concertantes.
  15. The Box Office clerk I spoke to last week initially said the performance on the 19th was a closed one. Later in the conversation, he contradicted himself and told me there was no performance that night. It is, indeed, a most curious situation!
  16. Not to forget English National Ballet. They staged it some years ago and are about to do so again next season.
  17. Does anyone have information on Sarni who is down to make his Bratfisch debut on October 17? A Google search doesn't bring anything up. Could it be a typo? edit: just checked the PDF link given by BBB and Sambé is listed there for October 17. Must have been a typo.
  18. The full casting won't come up on my iPad but I can get it on my PC (by clicking on 'see casting for all dates')
  19. Casting just announced: https://www.ballet.org.uk/production/voices-of-america/#cast-section
  20. I would guess that the new system was still under construction and that someone pressed the wrong button enabling us to see the "new dynamic price mapping tool" before they'd checked it and made the final adjustments. I certainly didn't see an announcement telling us that it had gone live. Was there one? I only knew it was there because of the comments on this forum. I had to browse through the website and experiment before I found a way of accessing the tool for each performance.
  21. For all other productions in the Autumn season the seats in these two areas share the same price. There's no logical reason to change this structure for Nutcracker so I imagine that it is extremely likely that the website designers have made a mistake with the price of the restricted view seats in rows L-M.
  22. The White Lodge Summer Fair is scheduled to be on Saturday, June 16 (according to the list of 2017/18 events given to Friends of the Royal Ballet School last September).
  23. Manon cast changes: http://www.roh.org.uk/news/cast-changes-manon-spring-2018 edited to provide details of changes (briefly as about to go in tunnel!) Morera replaced by Hayward March 29 ( due to illness) Zucchetti and Watson both injured. Replaced by Sambé and Bonelli
  24. I've not seen an announcement but Sarah Lamb is now listed for Laura Morera's role for Age of Anxiety tomorrow and next Tuesday. http://www.roh.org.uk/productions/the-age-of-anxiety-by-liam-scarlett
  25. For those interested in the music for this triple bill, I just found an interesting BBC programme on Bernstein's Serenade after Plato's 'Symposium': http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/p0202nz8 Here are the details from the BBC website: Bernstein: Serenade after Plato's 'Symposium' Leonard Bernstein's five movement concerto for violin, strings and percussion is one of his most personal compositions. It was inspired by Plato's discourse on love in all its aspects, the 'Symposium', which was presented in the form of a series of statements by celebrated guests at a banquet. Charles Hazlewood explores the relationship between Bernstein's music and the source of his inspiration. Performances by Antje Weithaas (violin) and the BBC Concert Orchestra. Release date: 30 May 2014
