  1. The view from the rear of the amphitheatre is a distant one but you can still see the whole stage. I've often watched performances from there and, with the help of binoculars for detail, I've never felt I was missing anything.
  2. You say that you're not surprised at this change. Can you explain? Have you heard that Skorik is injured?
  3. But you can still watch it. It's available online for another few weeks:
  4. Just unearthed my 2011 programme and got the running order below from its Don Q synopsis. I'm assuming this is what you were asking for. If, however, you were asking for the timings, then I'm afraid they're not listed in the programme. Prologue Act 1 Town Square Act II Scene 1 Gypsy Camp Scene 2 Don Q’s nightmare: Kingdom of the Dryads Scene 3 Morning breaks. Kitri and Basilio flee Act III Scene 1 Scene in Inn Scene 2 Wedding
  5. The casting for Giselle and The Winter's Tale has just been posted on the ROH website: http://www.roh.org.uk/productions/giselle-by-peter-wright http://www.roh.org.uk/productions/the-winters-tale-by-christopher-wheeldon Edit: Age of Anxiety casting now added. http://www.roh.org.uk/mixed-programmes/new-wayne-mcgregor-the-age-of-anxiety-new-christopher-wheeldon It will probable be some time before we know the casting of the new works.

Sean Flanagan is now listed as joining the BalletBoyz Rodrigo Pinto is now listed as joining Semperoper Ballet Dresden Fraser Roach is now listed as joining Stuttgarter Ballett as an apprentice. https://www.royalballetschool.org.uk/discover/alumni/graduate-contracts-2017/
  8. I just discovered that the link I pasted in above to The Australian doesn't seem to work. When I tried it just now it took me to a subscription page. The original link came from Twitter. If anyone is interested in reading the article, they should go to Alex Campbell's Twitter account. The link there seems to take you straight to the article without any need to sign up for a subscription.
  9. An Australian newspaper appears to have promotion news before it's announced here. An item on the five Australian dancers in the Company contains the following (the highlighting is mine): "The five Australian dancers have been with The Royal Ballet between five and 14 years. Two were promoted within the company: Ella from first artist to soloist and Richardson from artist to first artist." http://www.theaustralian.com.au/arts/stage/australians-bolster-royal-ballets-family/news-story/1513077c464595b9fa71f039262d993f
  10. This has happened before with the events at Wilton's. In the past they have kept a lot of tickets back for their own patrons. These tickets have become available once they have opened their own public booking.
  11. I remember Lauren Cuthbertson having just as much energy. I've searched for a review of her Sylvia and have found this one from the Guardian: https://www.theguardian.com/stage/2010/nov/08/the-royal-ballet-sylvia-reviewyl
  12. Not all the Mariinsky programmes. He's been replaced by Xander Parish in Anna Karenina: http://www.roh.org.uk/productions/anna-karenina-by-alexei-ratmansky
  13. The ROH database is often inaccurate so I don't know how much one can rely on the one listing that pairs Carlos and Zen in The Prodigal Son (February 23,2004).. http://www.rohcollections.org.uk/performance.aspx?performance=5031&row=19 In all other performances that season Zen was paired with Ivan Putrov and Carlos with Sylvie Guillem so it could well be a mistake.
  14. I was there and, as bangorballetboy has already said, it was anything but a debacle. I agree that it’s surprising that there was no understudy but, in the circumstances, I thought that they dealt with the situation extremely well. Most of the audience seemed to understand how difficult it was for the company and there was prolonged applause after it was announced that there would be, not only a full refund, but also 80 minutes of highlights of the opera.. The performance then began with the cast in full costume and makeup. Highlights from Acts 1 and 2 were sung in front of a backcloth. We then had more or less the whole of Act 3 with the entire cast of soloists and chorus (with a stand-in for a non-singing Elisabetta) and sets as well as costumes, i.e. this act was fully staged. Although there was nothing from the last two acts, the performance was very well received by the audience. Indeed the applause was still continuing when I left the House quite some time after the end of Act 3..
  15. The replacement for Sarah Lamb in The Dream has been announced: Due to injury, Sarah Lamb will be replaced by Akane Takada in the role of Titania for performances of The Dream on 2 and 7 June 2017. http://www.roh.org.uk/news/cast-change-akane-takada-to-dance-in-the-dream-on-2-and-7-june-2017
  16. Cast changes for the Strapless mixed bill just announced on the ROH website: Reece Clarke will be replaced by Ryoichi Hirano as Dr Samuel-Jean Pozzi for performances of Strapless on 20, 24 and 25 May 2017. http://www.roh.org.uk/news/cast-change-ryoichi-hirano-to-dance-in-strapless-on-20-24-and-25-may-2017 Due to injury, Sarah Lamb will be replaced by Beatriz Stix-Brunell for the performance of The Vertiginous Thrill of Exactitude on 18 May 2017. For the performances on 23 and 25 May, Lamb will be replaced by Mayara Magri. Lauren Cuthbertson will be replaced by Akane Takada for the performances on 18, 23 and 25 May 2017. http://www.roh.org.uk/news/cast-changes-the-vertiginous-thrill-of-exactitude-on-18-23-25-may-2017
  17. Have I missed an announcement? I thought the ballets to be taken to Australia were Woolf Works and The Winter's Tale..
  18. Casting for the Tharp/Pita/Shechter mixed bill is now up: http://www.roh.org.uk/mixed-programmes/the-illustrated-farewell-the-wind-untouchable
  19. I just checked to see if the rest of the casting had been posted. So far, only the Concerto/ Baiser de la Fée/Elite Syncopations bill has had any detail added. Since a number of other companies are involved, they've just listed two Royal Ballet dancers for each of the Elite Syncopations performances http://www.roh.org.uk/mixed-programmes/concerto-le-baiser-de-la-fee-elite-syncopations
  20. I just noticed that the Nutcracker link has disappeared from my original posting. Maybe a moderator removed it because of the problems on the ROH website? Here is the link: http://www.roh.org.uk/productions/the-nutcracker-by-peter-wright
  21. Some of it is currently on the ROH website: http://www.roh.org.uk/productions/alices-adventures-in-wonderland-by-christopher-wheeldon http://www.roh.org.uk/productions/sylvia-by-frederick-ashton I assume the rest of it will be there soon. Edited to add that there's currently a problem with the listed Nutcracker casting. Calvert, Kish, Maguire, Dyer and Marriott are down to do every single performance! Edited again to record that this has now been corrected. They're now down for 2 performances rather than 24!
  22. As far as I know, the Arena seats are never raked. I only mentioned the first few rows as I thought it was possible that those who were further away would be more likely to be able to see the dancers' feet.
  23. I agree that this is the case with 'in the round' productions but, for the BRB Nutcracker, seats are being sold in the Arena. I would imagine that the dancers' feet would not be visible from the front few rows of the Arena.
  24. Cheapest price £35 (circle restricted view) Top price £85 (Grand Tier) Other prices: Stalls and Loggia £80. Second Tier £75 Arena £70 Front Circle £50 Rear Circle £45 It's stated on the website that all prices include fees
