I don't seem able to copy and paste Word documents accurately!
  2. I had the same experience so I went to my address book and found the postcode of an American friend. The Chicago Tribune was quite happy with that and allowed me to register!
  3. Leanne Cope's success on Broadway is featured in an item in today's London Evening Standard: http://www.standard.co.uk/lifestyle/london-life/leanne-cope-tonynominated-royal-ballet-dancer-takes-on-broadway-10299457.html
  4. That's interesting that the Astaire Awards were announced in advance. When I posted earlier today I posted the only reference I could find. There has, however, since been another: http://www.broadway.com/buzz/181039/an-american-in-paris-on-the-town-share-2015-astaire-award-wins/ I note that Leanne Cope was the only winner of the Best Female Dancer award. Chris Wheeldon shared his award for Best Choreographer with Joshua Bergasse (On The Town) and Robert Fairchild shared his award for Best Male Dancer with Tony Yazbeck (also On The Town)
  5. Were the Astaire Awards winners announced in advance? I just saw a tweet saying that An American in Paris had won several of them. I've had trouble finding details online but the following article contains the names of the winners of the awards, including Leanne Cope, Robert Fairchild and Christopher Wheeldon: http://www.showbiz411.com/2015/06/02/harvey-weinstein-gets-the-astaire-award-we-need-new-voices-on-broadway-we-need-guys-like-me-on-broadway
  6. Thanks, Bruce. I happened to notice that the awards were given yesterday and didn't know that the recipients had been announced in advance of the ceremony.
  7. 2014-2015 Theatre World Awards for An American in Paris Robert Fairchild and Leanne Cope have both won awards for their roles in An American in Paris: Robert Fairchild is named as a Theatre World Award Recipient. . Leanne Cope is named as the 2015 recipient of the Dorothy Loudon Award for Excellence in the Theatre. http://www.theatreworldawards.org/current-recipients.html
  8. A fascinating interview and beautifully written up. I'm especially interested as I've been following Charlotte's career since I first saw her dancing Liam Scarlett's choreography in the Linbury when she was in Year 7 at White Lodge. Now she's following in Liam's footsteps. The last time the Genée was in London Liam was the commissioned choreographer. This year Charlotte has that honour! http://www.rad.org.uk/news/charlotte-edmonds-to-be-genee-2015-commissioned-choreographer
  9. Just noticed that Francesca Hayward's name is no longer on the Coliseum website. I hope she hasn't withdrawn from the production.
  10. I just noticed that Ryoichi Hirano is to replace Rupert Pennefather in the performances of Song of the Earth on May 29 and June 4 http://www.roh.org.uk/news/cast-change-ryoichi-hirano-to-dance-in-song-of-the-earth-on-29-may-and-4-june-2015 Edited to correct typo
  11. I felt the same way, Alison, so was pleased to see that the complete solo, including the gargouillades, can be seen on the BBC website. http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/p02qqf09
  12. A "certain Mr McRae" did do it and, anyone who has the 2005 DVD, will still be able to see him leading the pony. As for the cinema performance, we had a recent recruit (Calvin Richardson, who graduated from the RBS last summer) and a Second Year student, currently still at the RBS. I'm not sure if it's appropriate to post the student's name here.
  13. Prices are slightly lower for Romeo and Juliet matinées. The top price is reduced by £17 (£110 instead of £127). The bottom price is only reduced by £1 (£5 instead of £6) i.e. the lower the evening price, the lower the reduction. Edited to correct typo
  14. "In an interview that Osipova gave to Euronews last month, she said that she wanted to get away from classical roles and concentrate on the kind of roles that she felt suited her better. hope it's OK to quote the relevant section: “Over the last ten years I have danced a variety of roles. Now, I want to focus on the things for which I have a special talent – psychological and dramatic roles or contemporary dance for which it seems to me I have a great ability. Right now, there are many interesting choreographers and there are so many things happening around and for me I really want to try it all and I think that I will gradually retreat further from classics,” she opined." http://www.euronews....lle-mal-gardee/ (with thanks to Dansomanie for finding the interview) Edited to provide the link to the English version. Apologies for originally posting the link to the French version. I only just realised that, since Euronews is a multilingual channel, there must also be an English version!
  15. Yet more award nominations for Wheeldon, Cope and Fairchild: http://www.theatermania.com/broadway/news/2015-astaire-award-nominations-announced_72779.html Edited to add that the nominations are for the 2015 Fred and Adele Astaire Awards. Jill Paice was also nominated for her role in American in Paris.
  16. . Luca Acri, Marcelino Sambé and David Yudes. I think that's all but I'm happy to be corrected if there were more.
  17. Just noticed an announcement on the ROH website: "A note from Kevin O'Hare on ballet casting for Autumn Season (updated 29/04/15) Some patrons have asked about casting details for Autumn Season. As it becomes increasingly difficult to create accurate detailed information so far in advance of the published performances I feel that it is preferable to delay announcing casting in order to try and minimize the likelihood of changes. I am now pleased to be able to confirm that the casting will be released on 5 May in advance of booking opening." http://www.roh.org.uk/news/autumn-201516
  18. Interestingly, Calvert has now disappeared from the May 14 performance as well. http://www.roh.org.uk/productions/woolf-works-by-wayne-mcgregor This would seem to indicate that the removal of the 8th female dancer (the third on the list) might have been intentional and not an error
  19. I've had a flyer from the Wycombe Swan. The RNZB Giselle will be there Friday November 6 (7.30pm) and Saturday November 7 (2.30pm and 7.30pm)
  20. It came in answer to Bruce Wall's question. The information is available in the ROH Magazine which is sent to Friends of Covent Garden. The magazines are sent to Friends in batches. This is why some Friends received it two weeks ago, others only in the last few days.
  21. Some further information: The full length ballets and the mixed bills do not have the same prices . There is a slight variation. The prices in brackets are for matinées Stalls Circle Standing: £11 (£10) for Romeo and Nutcracker £10 (£8) for The Viscera and Two Pigeons mixed bills £4 Connectome/Raven Girl Amphitheatre standing: £6 (£5) Romeo and Nutcracker £5 (£4) Viscera and Two Pigeons mixed bills £2 Connectome/Raven Girl
  22. Yet more award nominations for An American in Paris: http://www.broadwayworld.com/article/2015-Drama-Desk-Nominations-Announced-Updating-LIVE-20150423 Nominated in 12 categories for the 2015 Drama Desk Awards, including outstanding musical and outstanding actor and actress in a musical (Robert Fairchild and Leanne Cope)
  23. Calvert has now reappeared at one performance only (May 14) Something very strange going on with the website!
  24. Hamilton was already in the first night cast. Interestingly, the third named female dancer seems to have disappeared from both casts - Nuñez from the first cast and Calvert from the second cast. I wonder if this is a website error. http://www.roh.org.uk/productions/woolf-works-by-wayne-mcgregor Edited to add link to ROH website
  25. More award nominations for An American in Paris and Leanne Cope and Robert Fairchild: http://dramaleague.org/events/awards/nominees The nominations were for the 'outstanding production of a Broadway or Off-Broadway musical'and the 'distinguished performance award'.
