  1. It's unfathomable to many of us, Aileen. I have yet to meet anybody who wasn't astonished when her promotion at the end of last season was only to the level of First Artist. Edited to add that, in addition to the principal roles you mention, she has also danced Giselle (in 2010?)
  2. It's mentioned on pages 7 and 9 of the press release: http://static.roh.org.uk/for/pdfs/press-releases-13-14/Ballet-and-Dance-2014-15.pdf Edited to add that, on page 15 of the press release, the date for the production is given as July 2015
  3. I was surprised to read this as I thought I remembered seeing Year 11 White Lodge students doing pas de deux work. I checked on the White Lodge website and found the following (the highlighting is mine) "A five-year course is offered here for students between the ages of 11 and 16, incorporating comprehensive classical ballet training together with an excellent academic provision up to GCSE Level. ...................... At senior levels, classes in repertoire, solos, pas de deux and upper body conditioning for male students are incorporated into the curriculum." http://www.royalballetschool.org.uk/training/full-time-courses/white-lodge/
  4. Vadim Muntagirov to replace Thiago Soares on March 28 and April 1! http://www.roh.org.uk/news/cast-change-vadim-muntagirov-to-perform-in-the-sleeping-beauty-on-28-march-and-1-april
  5. Can't find any news of a repeat but the playlist is on the Classic FM website: http://www.classicfm.com/radio/playlist/2014/march/22/alex-jamess-magical-music-tour/
  6. A point of information. There was a cast change slip to explain that Francesca Hayward was injured and was being replaced. Leticia Stock was the Song Bird Fairy who impressed you yesterday. It's a pity that announcements are not made about changes of cast as there are frequently not enough cast change slips to go round. Edited to add that I recognise that the cast change slips sometimes contain so many names that an announcement might not always be practical.
  7. The full casting is being released on the ENB website at this very moment. They are releasing the details performance by performance. I imagine it will all be there in around half an hour. http://www.ballet.org.uk/whats-on/lest-we-forget/ edited to add that, to see the casting, you need to click on the 'principal casting' tab
  8. The fairies are named in the order that they danced. I assume the 'finger' variation is the last one, in which case it was danced by Elizabeth Harrod.
  9. Fairy of the Crystal Fountain Yuhui Choe Fairy of the Enchanted Garden Beatriz Stix-Brunell Fairy of the Woodland Glade Hikaru Kobayashi Fairy of the Song Bird Francesca Hayward Fairy of the Golden Vine Elizabeth Harrod Floristan and his sisters James Hay, Elizabeth Harrod, Beatriz Stix-Brunell Puss-in-Boots and the White Cat Paul Kay, Elsa Goddard Princess Florine and the Bluebird Yuhui Choe, Valentino Zucchetti Red Riding Hood and the Wolf Leanne Cope Eric Underwood Edited to add that the principal roles are above in post #93
  10. Around 8 years ago the Tchaikovsky Pas de Deux formed part of a mixed programme - with Ballet Imperial, Robbin's Afternoon of a Faun and The Firebird. It was danced by Alexandra Ansanellii and Federico Bonelli as well as by Marianela Nuñez and Carlos Acosta. Edited to correct date. I just checked the performance database and discovered that the date of this mixed programme was 2006.
  11. The published Sky Arts listings have recently been unreliable. Despite the fact that the Ashton Mixed Bill is in the Radio Times listing for Friday evening, the actual on screen guide for Sky Arts2 indicates that the Rojo/Acosta Bayadère will be broadcast instead.
  12. They probably don't know yet which dancers will definitely appear. There have been very long cast change slips at recent performances (due to illness or injury) I imagine that they want to keep their options open until the last minute.
  13. Partial casting has now been announced: http://www.balletcoforum.com/index.php?/topic/6104-ballet-in-the-cinema-2013-2014/?p=84153
  14. Partial casting for tomorrow's cinema broadcast of the Royal Ballet Sleeping Beauty is now on the ROH website. http://static.roh.org.uk/showings/sleeping-beauty-2014/en.pdf PRINCESS AURORA SARAH LAMB PRINCE FLORIMUND STEVEN McRAE KING FLORESTAN XXIV CHRISTOPHER SAUNDERS HIS QUEEN ELIZABETH McGORIAN CARABOSSE KRISTEN McNALLY LILAC FAIRY LAURA McCULLOCH PRINCESS FLORINE YUHUI CHOE THE BLUEBIRD VALENTINO ZUCCHETTI GRAND PAS DE DEUX SARAH LAMB, STEVEN McRAE Edited to correct the link
  15. Unusually, this run, there have only been 4 attendants on stage in Act III. In the past, when some of the attendants from Act 1 have been used in other roles in Act III (eg the White Cat or Red Riding Hood) the numbers have been made up by students. This season, there have been many injuries in the corps and they don't seem to have used students to fill in the gaps. This, presumably, explains why they have only fielded 6 attendants in Act 1 (instead of 8) and only 4 in Act III. In my opinion this is a mistake as the overall impact has been consequently diminished. It will be interesting to see if they augment the numbers of attendants for the cinema broadcast.
  16. It was definitely Tierney's debut. As for Christina, I suspect it was her debut but don't know for sure.
  17. Symphonic Variations please - seems like ages since it was last on.
  18. He also has a Romeo (July 29) and a second Swan Lake (August 14).
  19. I'm afraid all productions are the same price. No discounts for mixed bills this time.
  20. Thanks for that, BBB. It would seem that they've abandoned the £55 price mentioned in the ROH magazine.
  21. The price chart was there originally. I wonder why they’ve taken it off? The chart, which was up until recently, showed the following prices for the amphitheatre: The lilac seats at the sides and rear of the amphi: £32. The brown seats in the rear amph: £25. The pink seats: £20 The turquoise seats and standing places: £10 Edited to add that the more expensive seats (yellow, olive green and blue) are presumably £48,, £55 and £60. Since these seats are way out of my price range I didn't look at them when the prices were on the website.
  22. I've just realised I posted the London Coliseum Pagodas casting in the wrong forum. 24. Nicholas and Jerome are at White Lodge. Ricardo was, I believe, originally at Elmhurst but is now at White Lodge. Scott was also at White Lodge.
