  1. It's first come first served. Plenty of places as they have 3 or 4 groups.
  2. Hi My DS has done kickstart for the last 2 years. It's well worth the drive, we have a long trip too. He loves the classes and I feel they are very good value for money and a great benefit to him as he gets to experience a range of genres. He has also made some good friends. I'm sure information will be up quite soon for next years classes.
  3. Yes my DS is and DD is too if she isn't away that week. DS is 9 and DD will have just turned 12 the week before.
  4. Tring first form (yr7) wear socks for the whole year and that includes pointe work. Second form is tights.
  5. Ballet queen my DD is on the dance course in yr7 and is loving it. I'll really pleased with her training and her whole school journey so far. If you have any specific questions please message me.
  6. DS is loving it! I think it is putting it mildly to say he is being challenged!!! Bless his, but he is loving every minute. Can't wait to watch tomorrow.
  7. DS is going to MBS too. I'm looking forward to watching!
  8. My son is a JA and at his centre his teacher actively encourages his other interest of Musical Theatre. He was called back for Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and missed a couple of classes last term and missed another one this one due to another show. She is completely supportive and says that those experiences are wonderful for him. I watched his class last term at parents watching and it was one of the best classes I have ever seen. He absolutely loves it. We were at a dance school that did not permit any students to attend associate schemes. It was crazy so my children left! Good luck to everybody auditioning this year and extra luck to Balletmummy28 on the school front! It's a very stressful time!! X
  9. Have heard there are only 5 MDS available at Tring this year.
  10. Hi. I have never had a child in Prep at Tring but I am confident that it is extremely rare for a child not to be able to continue into main school. The only issue sometimes is that they may not be able to go on the course they would really like. The other problem may be if you need funding to stay and move into main school. It is an amazing school and any child that goes is very lucky.
  11. I'm not sure they would still make them anymore. You mean the old fashioned ballet shoes don't you? Mine were leather upper though. They are a full leather sole and really make your feet work. Need to find an old dance school with an attic full of them.
  12. Tring lower school so years 7-9 dance in the morning. They start at 8.30 and finish about 12 or 12.05 something like that. They then have academics in the afternoon until 4.45. They then have prep (homework) 4.45-6 and they then have supper. At about 3.45 they have a quick 15 min break for tea. My DD loves the food. Every few weeks they have brunch at 11 on a Sunday when they can go into the dining hall in their pyjamas if they want to. They sometimes have cooked breakfasts but I'm not sure how frequently. I can't always get clear answers from my DD as she is too busy telling me about other things. She definitely talks more now. I can't get her to shut up!! There are 7 in her dorm. Some dorms have less. They had a taster day at the end of June so did a vocational class, a music class and an academic class and got to meet her year. She also met her form tutor, who is lovely so started school well prepared. Her form tutor also sent a postcard to her at the end of the holiday saying she was looking forward to seeing her, so that was special. My DD loves every minute at school and she is very happy. I am really pleased with all aspects. I know Elmhurst have dorms with 2 in and a friend's DS has started there and is also very happy. I don't know any more specifics of that school though. Hope that helps a bit. I will try and get clearer answers re food and I am sure others can give you more information too.
  13. I had a DD that was in group 1 and then 2 and has now started vocational school. My DS is in the first (younger) boys group. Think it is group 1&2 combined. They have both really enjoyed CBA. Great training. Good luck!
  14. The group that you audition in isn't the group that you would necessarily be placed in. There are 6 CBA groups but often 3 or 4 groups for the audition. It then depends which group has spaces. I will have a look on Sunday and see if any groups look particularly light. Won't see the older groups though as we are gone by lunchtime.
  15. It doesn't matter whether photos for Tring are in tights or bare legs but as the yr 7 there wear socks I did DD's photos in bare legs.

    MDS query

Thank you Amos. That's what I thought too but she had heard that they ask for Father's income too even if separated.

    MDS query

I am after some advice re MDS. Friend's DD is auditioning for vocational school this year and would need an MDS. She is separated from her husband and needs to know if they take the husband's income into account or is it just the income of the house the child lives in? She fears her exDH won't help pay the fees.
  18. PDQ I noticed that too re the Associate Experience class this year. Not helpful at all for parents. All very odd.
  19. I'm not feeling too bad surprisingly. DD text me last night to say "had an amazing day it was awesome!" I am going to see her this weekend though as at the school with DS! He is green with envy that she has gone and he hasn't. He is only 8 though so I told him if he works hard he will get there. Will need a miracle with money too! Hope all you other parents are ok. Saw the Elmhurst photo and it made me smile! All these lucky kids living their dreams.
  20. Just looked and my DD was in the first audition and it was 3rd November. Good luck
  21. Thanks for the info. It's the parking and traffic that I'm worried about. I HATE being late or pushed for time. I'm sure once I have done it a couple of times I will be fine. I have parked in Thorpe Street before but was wondering how easy it would be to park on a Saturday at lunchtime. Thank you so much for the help.
  22. No he isn't doing the Jazz class as it clashes with JA's. The young ones ballet class incorporates the exercise class so he is doing that and leaving 15 minutes early to give us half an hour to get to JA. Thank you so much for the offer of a lift, it's really kind, but our times are different. His JA class is 12.45. It finishes at 3 so may see you there.
  23. Hi Jennyboydance, your DS has done so well in such a short space of time. Do you have a mad dash from one to the other? We will be cutting it fine from Elmhurst to JA. My DS is yr4. I was also worried about how tiring it may be but will see how it goes. He does manage a full day at summer school so don't think this will be any different. Look forward to seeing you.
