  1. The photographer will hopefully be able to help, unless he's unlucky and gets an inexperienced one. Fingers crossed for you.
  2. There wasn't a place, as no one was assessed out, they will make a place though if they want someone they feel has what they want.
  3. I can confirm dancefanatic, four years ago there were only four invited to finals for year 8 WL, two girls from the UK, a Spanish girl and a Swede. unfortunately none of them were selected.
  4. Well I reckon if you're at AD2 level at 15 yrs old, then you should be fine applying for auditions at schools such as RBS, Tring, Rambert, Elmhurst, Central, etc etc. You certainly have nothing to lose by applying, apart from the entry fee, and travel expenses of course, It might have been better for you, if you'd gone up the grades gradually, then you have been more or less certain where you stand standard wise, maybe makes no difference though as I'm certainly no expert, and I'm sure some of the members on the forum will advise you.
  5. You read me like a book LinMM, I'll put my hand up and say I was a little harsh. (just a little though.๐Ÿ˜‰I think most of us have sad stories to tell, eg my son had to retire well before his prime, that almost certainly cost him plenty of international caps. We're all made different both in body and mind, and I was brought up to not worry about something that you can't do anything about.
  6. Life's very tough at times for us all, now if it was someone who couldn't feed their children through losing their profession, I would be the first to say how sorry I am. I've discussed this over lunch, and after a few minutes there were twenty something people involved, and not one disagreed with me. (even the waiters)๐Ÿ˜That's my last on it, though. and we're all entitled to our opinions.
  7. Comparing Michael Schumacher to Andy Murray is ridiculous, and yes I agree it is rather sad for him right now, but as Nadal said, " Today him, tomorrow one of us" that's life. and shrugged his shoulders. Some would argue, he has let his body down by pushing it when he should have rested, that's the chance a lot of us take to get as high as we can. We then shouldn't belly ache about being unlucky with injuries etc. (not saying he has)
  8. One thing for sure he won't have any money problems, like maybe some of our family member dancers, if they had to retire prematurely or not. I know he'll be a bit sad for a while but it will soon wear off when he checks his account with 77m in it. I'm from a rugby family, (Pros) where to say your body is on the line is an understatement, and when I look back I couldn't pull my socks on a Monday after a match when I was fit. I respect him for what he does for some charities, as he does raise a lot of money for very good causes.
  9. I learnt to play "Malaguena" on the guitar, and always imagined a dancer as I played it. Do you know it's been a while but I just might get the duster out, and give it another go. Have a look. https://youtu.be/8B6jOUzBKYc Oh by the way, I wasn't as good as this guy, he lost me after about a minute.
  10. Wow that's a heck of a question to answer, it depends on the individual I suppose. I have my own reasons, you could relate it to the topic Pointetoes, but I never intended to as it's there all the time. It's a line from a Bob Dylan song, who I've been very interested in for many years, "Love Minus Zero No Limit" look it up.
  11. I think you've hit the nail right on the head Pointetoes, they are all different. How one reacts to say an injury or an illness, will be totally different to how another does. it might make one homesick, and the other might be more resilient.
  12. I'm not too sure of the "almost crack proof Trog"
  13. I can only second Lisa's thoughts Harwel, no one should have to put up with that, shocking.
  14. My GDD did a couple of summer schools four or five tears ago, one year there were quite a lot of foreigners, and the other there weren't that many. I think one week is fine as they do work hard, like most she really enjoyed her stays.
  15. Yorkshire do have a great record in the CC, it's even better when you consider they wouldn't usually play anyone not born in the county. I think it was in the early 90's that they let an overseas player walk out, mind you he was probably the best there has ever been.
  16. I alway thought Royal US, was reasonably well supported, for families not on a high income.
  17. I'm pretty sure London Russian will take someone mid term, if they think they have enough talent of course.

I came to a point where I had to make a decision, whether to carry on, or get off. I am glad to say, for me I made the right choice and waved goodbye, as life is far too short. It's a shame as there are a lot of good points, but far too much rubbish for me.
  19. I reckon there will be no end of DC's parents dashing around with last minute preps etc, before their children semi fledge the nest so to speak. We are having a get together tonight, to celebrate my granddaughter's 16th birthday, along with both her and her good friend, who also goes to VS in a week or so. I suggested buying train tickets to London, the week after they go, just to take all the things that will be forgotten, as I'm sure there will be a few.
  20. Best wishes to your DD balletbean, what exam result is she waiting for, and which school did she choose?
  21. Well there's something in the water in Kingston upon Hull, as there's been so many successful dancers come from that part of the world in the past few years.
