Cancellations in the UK caused by coronavirus
Beryl H replied to capybara's topic in Ballet / Dance news & information
I notice from my bank statement today that the ROH has been making refunds into my bank account for performances up to 15th April, I did wonder as there have been no E-mails -
Any cuckoos out there? ... and other BirdWatch/NatureWatch news
Beryl H replied to taxi4ballet's topic in Not Dance
I've got lots of Spanish bluebells out in both my front and back gardens, I have a few very old native bluebells too, much more delicate. -
I've received this E-mail, agree that it would have been much clearer to have said all performances for the current Season cancelled, but this is what I take it to be.

Cancellations in the UK caused by coronavirus
Beryl H replied to capybara's topic in Ballet / Dance news & information
I've just had an E-Mail from SW inviting me to re-book for Creature in November using a gift voucher from the cancelled one, which was the same price, so have done, there are very few performances. I've got a ticket for 10th June for BRB too. Have only received 1 E-mail refund from the ROH out of 5, but suppose it's time to think of cancelling all remaining tickets up to the end of June. -
Stuttgart Ballet to stream Mayerling - and others
Beryl H replied to Angela's topic in Ballet / Dance news & information
Normally I can't watch these long transmissions as my broadband bill goes too high, but I got a letter from BT last week saying there is no longer a limit, and they won't reinstate it in the future, so I can really look forward to this! Also should be possible to take breaks, or watch it twice.- 82 replies

Lockdown and General Streaming Thread
Beryl H replied to alison's topic in Ballet / Dance news & information
Yes, I noticed how nice everyone was that I encountered on my Tesco oldies hour trip yesterday, bus drivers, the Tesco staff, even people on the other side of the road that I didn't know smiled!- 1,212 replies

I'm don't think I've been officially told to self isolate as I haven't received a letter from the NHS to "shield" myself , suppose I'm just an ordinary 70+ able to use the supermarket special hours, managed to get some Paracetamol yesterday in Tesco, was so happy, but it has to be diluted and has a funny flavour

I liked Gloriana, it got very good reviews and I managed to get a late ticket to see it.

Royal Danish Ballet Napoli livestream
Beryl H replied to toursenlair's topic in Ballet / Dance news & information
This topic has got me sorting through DVD's and I have both versions, am going to watch Act 2 of the earlier one tonight, can't remember it, but I do quite like the new Hubbe one, nothing like Napoli apart from the story but I just enjoy the different music and choreography. I agree that the camera work for the other Acts is very irritating, those constant facial expressions instead of the dancing!- 19 replies

Upcoming DVD/Blu-ray Releases
Beryl H replied to charliewise's topic in Ballet / Dance news & information
The Mother, danced by Natalia Osipova and Jonathan Goddard, will be released on DVD and Blu-Ray, no details of when, on Amazon. -
I went to Tesco's "older and vulnerable" shopping hour today, everyone well-behaved and polite, a huge help, but I kept forgetting to keep my distance Hoping that my hospital will cancel next week's appointment, also that I won't get the NHS "Shielding" letter this week.

It's now official - Scarlett out
Beryl H replied to zxDaveM's topic in Ballet / Dance news & information
The only reason I can think of is that Swan Lake doesn't need Liam Scarlett to oversee it, whereas Oklahoma did and Symphonic Dances probably would, but that is being kind. The virus has probably wiped out Symphonic Dances too now, but I doubt many would have minded it being replaced, can you imagine that happening with Swan Lake. -

I was going to see Carlos at the Brighton Dome on Tuesday (it seems ages ago now, when things where normal) but the Dome has indicated some performances could be re-scheduled. -
Cancellations in the UK caused by coronavirus
Beryl H replied to capybara's topic in Ballet / Dance news & information
I'm sure there was no mention of 19th April, it just said "your upcoming performance" and the bar at the end asks you to repeat any other cancellations so I did the 5 that I had up to 7th April, and got 5 single confirmations back, so yes I think you can cancel everything now, probably best to do it in stages though. -
Cancellations in the UK caused by coronavirus
Beryl H replied to capybara's topic in Ballet / Dance news & information
I've just received the ROH E-mail and done 5 tickets in a row and needed a break, I saved the Internet page, it's the same as above so looks okay, I presume all performances this Season are cancelled. -

Royal Ballet 2019/20 Spring Season Casting
Beryl H replied to Lizbie1's topic in Ballet / Dance news & information
I watched my new Natalia Osipova Blu-Ray last night, and it started with Natalia Osipova and Cesar Corrales rehearsing La Bayadere, they looked very good together, I was glad I've just bought a cheap ticket for their Prodigal Son!- 108 replies

Dammit, I want to see Osipova and Corrales now, I've only booked for Heap/Sambe, Life Fire Exercise isn't too bad if you can ignore that video, difficult though!- 108 replies

Beryl H replied to charliewise's topic in Ballet / Dance news & information
I had been anticipating the new RB Bayadere Blu-Ray and received it yesterday from Amazon, wonderful performance and good picture quality, although still darker than it looks onstage, what a fabulous cast, looking forward to the Natalia Osipova documentary which is also due now! -

Royal Ballet Onegin 2020
Beryl H replied to Richard LH's topic in Performances seen & general discussions
I can remember the night I finally 'got' her too, many years ago I wanted an extra trip to London before Christmas and got a last minute ticket for Sleeping Beauty which she danced with Thiago Soares, and was amazed by her radiance and the obvious pleasure she gave to her audience, I'll never forget how she warmed up the cold winter night!- 410 replies

I had been hoping to see these variations, and the pdd for Franz and Swanhilda too I was given a cast list without having to ask by the lady lift attendant, who assured me it was going to be a fabulous night, I have spoken to her before and think she is a ballet fan.
