  1. I really enjoyed this last night. From the one previous time I've seen it (on DVD) I'm not a huge fan of Nureyev's choreography. But thought the performances here were great. I was completely gripped by act 3 in particular - Cojocaru was incredible. But also something about the whole atmosphere made it feel even more intense than usual. This was another filmed version very clearly not meant for public viewing, with bits of the action apparently only available from what seemed to be some kind of security camera. Another angle showed the full orchestra playing while the dancing and the action unfolded in front of them. For me at least, this unexpectedly added an intimacy not usually present when watching filmed ballets. Perhaps more of a sense of being there. Another video I feel lucky to have been able to watch. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=DvZS5LJQwqo
  2. "Napoli" from Denmark with Alexandra Lo Sardo and Alban Lendorf https://www.dr.dk/drtv/program/napoli-_-ballet-fra-det-kongelige-teater_178143
  3. This is available now for streaming. Recorded about 10 years ago. Where are the students who appeared in it now ? I'm sure that some people out there will know. And, by the way, why do I have nagging memories of Martin Harvey in Peter and the Wolf ? An earlier version ? Seems like there was one back in 1995. Your memories please ?
  4. Royal Danish Ballet will be livestreaming Napoli https://kglteater.dk/kgl/xtra/forestilling-napoli/?section=31109 Note! Depending on your connection, it may take a few minutes for the video to start playing. I have tried and no luck so far but perhaps you will have better luck.
  5. This doesn't really fit under either television or cinema, so I thought it might be a good idea to have a thread for news of the increasing number of live-streamed performances etc. (although the Royal Ballet Insights/rehearsals have their own thread). From the "German" thread:
  6. 20 links of World Ballet Day livestreams on you tube http://www.balletnews.co.uk/world-ballet-day-2019-livestream-roundup/?utm_campaign=shareaholic&utm_medium=facebook&utm_source=socialnetwork&fbclid=IwAR3cCfpMgFx8fMXHtKFkL4u4FEyV-HlsF518gSHqdwfzBNRjIOEaFogr
  7. I very much enjoyed the live stream tonight. The Munich company gave a very good account of themselves in each piece. Ashley Bouder was fantastic, I thought, in Rubies. Alina Somova danced with cool precision and allure in Diamonds, just about coping with the brisk tempi in the final segment! A special mention for Vladimir Shklyarov who is really dancing on top form at the moment (appearing in The Little Humpbacked Horse last night at the Mariinsky and presumably flying to Munich this morning) - it was a great pleasure to see again his elan and musicality. I look forward to watching the performance all over again tomorrow!
