  1. I should think the seats everywhere in the ROH are wider than those in the amphitheatre, they became slightly less wide after the 2000 re-opening, when they increased the number of available seats.
  2. I suppose the "science" supports it, but all the photos I've seen seem to show too much empty space, I've got a pretty awful seat for WTGH but am looking forward to taking part in this strange experience.
  3. I watched it last night (Amazon were very quick off the mark) and thought it was beautiful, Act 3 in particular, loved the soft gentle style in which it was danced!
  4. Well, I E-mailed the Box Office and they assured me that I could still collect the E-ticket from the ROH, so I've booked one of few single cheap tickets left (wonder why) and the confirmation E-mail already says collect from Box Office!
  5. I can't get a single ticket for the amphitheatre, but 2 are available, the other problem is that I can only buy an E-ticket which is useless, I didn't actually want any tickets for these performances anyway, only experimenting, doesn't look good for the future though.
  6. Does anyone know what personal details you have to give the ROH to pass on to the NHS if you don't have a mobile phone? I had an E-mail from SW yesterday advising me that since London is now in Tier 2, anyone who bought 2 tickets and not in the same bubble should contact them, luckily I only bought a single ticket anyway
  7. That is my favourite moment of the whole evening, the huge smile on Marcelino Sambe's face as the audience clapped in time for her, and then him joining in, and the roar of applause at the end
  8. I only watched as far as The Dream but the standouts were Mayara Magri and Matthew Ball in Carousel, and Laura Morera and Alexander Campbell in The Dream, looking forward to seeing the other performances later, the only thing I didn't like were the interviews which interrupted the flow, except seeing Lauren Cuthbertson who I thought at first was suffering from "lockdown belly" like me, congratulations to her
  9. I looked at the Opera programmes when Friends booking opened this week, just to try it out, and I never managed to get a single ticket for anything, when I changed the quantity to 2 there was more choice, so it's looking bad for single tickets unless they make changes. There will be more performances of Nutcracker of course.
  10. Amazon have the Blu-Ray now for £21.81 (funny price) released on 6th November. I've ordered it, sounds fascinating!
  11. I hope they dance the pdd from Birthday Offering, they were brilliant in this at the Fonteyn Gala. Will the dancers have to wear masks live ?
  12. I got confused (again) when I checked the ROH website and saw The Nutcracker was on from 10-24 December, but it turned out to refer to the cinema 2016 production, I suppose it's streamed too on those dates. I did get a Friends E-mail advising that the 2 Opera live productions go on sale on 6th October, 8th for general booking.
  13. By sheer coincidence I chose a DVD to watch last night that had performances of The Talisman and Satanella (Nina Ananiashvili Gala), they are very difficult pdd, so is Diana and Acteon, looks exciting.
  14. I clicked on Prime by mistake recently, it's deliberately easy to do and you can't cancel within a month, so am being very good and not ordering anything except Coppelia which will be outside of the time range anyway.
  15. I still read the Radio Times but all is says for 22nd September is "Cinderella" so will use the above guide to get more detail for Sky Arts! I watched the programme on the gardens of Pompeii and was impressed with the picture quality, brought back happy memories too.
  16. There's a new matinee on Friday 30th October on the SW website with lots of tickets, I only looked at the Second Circle.
  17. I didn't expect any tickets to be left, but there were a few so booked one for Friday in the upper circle, one of the hurdles I expected wasn't there, I don't have a printer but I can apparently collect the ticket at the Box Office, there probably won't be many of us old fogies anyway The other thing is the Track and Trace thing that has to be completed in the theatre, don't have a mobile phone either, this is mandatory from the 18th September I think.
  18. Sky Arts Freeview will start on 17th September with the RB Rhapsody/Two Pigeons programme, although at 6am! There are more interesting programmes on in 2 days than I usually watch in 2 weeks, so looks good.
  19. I think Ashton's Act Two solo for Aurora is beautiful, it matches the music and mood perfectly.
  20. I had a brief good news moment just now after reading that indoor performances could restart from tomorrow, checked the SW website, and got this bad news instead.
  21. My favourites so far are ENB's La Sylphide, NYCB's Apollo, and RB's recent Sleeping Beauty.
  22. Sounds great news, I can get Sky News on Freeview so suppose I'll be able to get this
  23. I am going to watch this in small doses, I decided to see the Rose Adagio yesterday and agree how beautiful it was, looking forward to the vision scene and prologue variations especially.
  24. Watched the ballets again last night, Fumi Kaneko and Reece Clarke were particularly serene in Concerto, likewise Mayara Magri and Matthew Ball in the Wheeldon, I've made a nice 2 hour DVD now with Men at the Barre and most of the Re-opening.
