  1. Yes that's good advice Bestfootforward. I haven't been able to find accommodation costs on the websites so it'll be mean contacting he schools direct. Ant other tips much appreciated.
  2. Please can someone explain this to me? I have been on the website, looked at past threads but I am struggling with something that is probably so basic! On the income scales on the official website, is the amount shown under "student contribution to fees" the figure the student pays to the school? Is this termly or annually? So, just choosing a completely made up school fee as an example, the school charges £9,000 per term and the pupil pays for example £1275 depending on family income. Dada pays the rest to th school? Is this the student's entire contribution to tuition and boarding? Obviously I understand there are loads of extras too so I am just thinking fees at the moment. Or am I misunderstanding this completely? So what does the second column mean-Dada maintenance rates? We are a non boarding or vocational school family so it's all a mystery. Feeling confused....and hoping someone can explain it to me. Thank you.
  3. I have never heard of C&V so I have just had a look at the website. Lovely stuff! It might be too mch of an expensive secret to share with dd!!
  4. This is incredible, loved them. Thanks for sharing.
  5. 100% wow! Where do you go from there? What an achievement for a young dancer.
  6. Mumoftwo, as I have said in this thread our experience was very positive. Happy to answer any questions you have and you can pm me if you like
  7. My dd did Central two years ago, when she was 13, not an associate or a full time student. She had a fantastic time, there was a real mix of students and she didn't feel at all out of her depth- just challenged in a really positive way. My dd went to this a few years ago, probably when she was about 12. From what I remember they did ballet, pointe, contemporary and musicality. I think a lot of the dancers there were approaching audition age. However, all age and level of the experience was valued and taken into account. I took the opportunity to watch, some of the girls were so talented, it was a joy to watch.
  8. The associate programme is excellent, based on this year's experience. It is once a month on a Sunday, very welcoming atmosphere and my DD finds it very helpful.
  9. Central in London do a great one, not sure if there are spaces left.
  10. What a tough decision it must be for those DC who find themselves with these wonderful opportunities to chose between! Is it like walking into a house when house hunting and knowing it feels like home? It sounds as if employment opportunities are tough for everyone. This is a question, therefore, from me as an interested parent reading this thread, and not one with a dc who is auditioning..... BUT, does the very fact that you have a certain school (whatever one that might be depending on your vocational path) on your cv give you more chance of employment, than others? For example, many great dancers go to a ballet audition, all equally talented, do the ones who have, for example, been to Royal ballet, or English National, have an automatic an advantage over the others? In the same way that certain prestigious educational establishments can "open doors" in some professions? I would love to think it's a level playing field for our lovely young people, but is it? I would be very interested to read peoples thoughts.
  11. Hi Noobag06, Does your dd's teacher have any recommendations of shoe or where to buy? I think it's tough choosing your first pair, especially as you don't really know what they are meant to feel like. I understand that it gets easier. I suppose I would encourage you to take advice in any shop you go to, try on different makes and also different styles within the makes. They are all quite different and suit different feet. But we have never bought in London so can't recommend anywhere specific. Enjoy!
  12. This is hilarious. We laughed so much!
  13. Wonderful news for your dd
  14. Can anyone spot a price? Maybe I missed that section. Just wondering if the workshops would lean more towards gymnastic dance? Does anyone have any thoughts?
  15. And even more belated wishes from me. Happy Christmas everyone.

    Cake ideas

Does anyone have any suggestions for a birthday ballet themed cake for 15 year old dd? I am not massively artistic but can have a go if the concept isn't too difficult. Everything I have found looks hugely ambitious for me, with my two cake tins!! Thank you..in anticipation.
  18. What awful timing, I can really appreciate why you are reeling. Is the closure imminent or is there some breathing space? Just sending positive thoughts for you and your dd.
  19. So sorry to hear this, it must be so tough for you all being apart. Will be thinking of you and your DD and hoping that the comfort and love of home and family will help.
