  1. Will definitely do this! Maybe if they hear there is a demand for the DVD they will change their minds, who knows? Thank you!
  2. Thank you for your explanation, I am afraid I am not long enough to be on this forum so this discussion escaped me. Still finding it weird, honestly. Aren´t normally the rights not sold to c-major so this is a complete suprise turn by them? Or maybe c- major will sell the rights for the DVD to someone else. I mean, it is about an opportunity to make money I can´t believe that no one will see this chance...
  3. Somewhere before the Hayward announcement I read that filming is starting in November and would be finished at the end of February...But can I find the infos now? No🙄
  4. This would be interesting! If it´s true, then this will be a wonderful year for her with great opportunities!
  5. He is re -choreographing the whole musical, at least I think so. I didn´t see any other choreographers listed. Hayward is a natural choice for him but I wouldn´t have thought necessarily that Kevin would give a principal "away"...
  6. Agree...if there is A lead role I would have said it is Munkustrap because he functions as story teller through the musical and is involved in a lot of songs. But I guess with Victoria it is a perfect choice because she is in some productions the leading female dancing cat with a dance solo ect...And not so much singing (though I have no idea how good Francesca Hayward is at singing so...). To be honest I thought the whole time with Wayne McGregor (choreographing) that maybe someone from the RB would be involved with it. Edit: But I wouldn´t have thought about a principal...I think there are some in the company who were involved with musical theatre before...
  7. I really love the partnership from Nunez and Muntagirov to death and could watch them all the day but I think it also nice to see sometimes a different partnership. I will maybe see Clarke/Nunez and think this could be very interesting...Just wished there were more different Romeos to the Juliets.
  8. It was a wonderful night and a very special atmosphere! Actually it was my first open night at ROH ever and I don´t think I could have chosen better (and thanks to my sister in law who was so nice to give me this fantastic ticket)...I am still speechless how RB went from an absolute stunning last Mayerling to an amazing night of La Bayadere - a different dramatic, a different tragic, but so wonderful to see. All the three leads were exceptional and Campbell was a great bronze idol. The corps were beautiful and in such a great shape but also a big thank you to every other dancer! All the applause so well deserved! RB was on fire last night, a night to remember! Is the cinema release also with Nunez as Nikiya and Osipova as Gamzatti or is the other way around? The casting on the page is so mixed that I am not sure anymore who will dance who on which date....
  9. Definitely didn´t see this Alison I already wondered if they canceled this completely... If you want to see the dancers in class for free you (or anyone else) have (has) to go today to the Live at Lunch event🙄: https://www.roh.org.uk/events/c5g97
  10. Thank you, pre ordered it as soon as I saw your post! Agree! Hopefully they will show it in german TV too (I kinda doubt it) but my sister in law will record it for sure if they put it on TV in England...
  11. I was at the matinee yesterday and what a wonderful afternoon I had! Jan McNulty and Northstar found already the perfect words for these very special performances...it was such a treat for the eyes and hearts and I am very happy that I brought a friend with me, who never really liked Ballet, but couldn´t stop to rave about it afterwards. Now she wants to see more of Ballet - mission accomplished! Jan McNulty, Gabriels photos are wonderful - if he has to retire in the far, far, far away future as a dancer I seriously hope this will be his second career!
  12. Your daughter doesn´t need to speak german to go to Berlin, they are mainly interested how she dances😉. But it probably helps a lot to settle down if she already can speak it a little bit, but when I went to vocational school we had even 2 or 3 students who didn´t speak even English at all and it wasn´t a real problem. And if she lives here (in Germany or Austria) she will learn the language very fast (they all do, don´t worry!). Also if Berlin (or Stuttgart, Hamburg, Dresden) like her, they will take her at any time (there is also Munich, but they have no boarding school). Vienna is also taking international students at any time as fas as I know. I am not even sure if she has to take a test for the language while she is at school, maybe she needs to proof her German skills if she wants to do the Bachelor academic grade for stage dancer (but I went to vocationalschool more than 10 years ago, so maybe my knowledge is not completely updated). The new boarding rooms in Berlin are very nice! Sophoife already explained what your daughter needs to do to get an audition.
  13. "...nor the audience is interesed in his performance." I think this is really weird - I do not want to speak for everyone but I do know that a lot of people are interested when someone is dancing - even in such a dramatic scene with a wonderful couple like Bonelli/Morerera (or whatever your favourite couple is) I always look to Bratfisch and what the dancer is making of this scene. If I like it is a complete different story but this statement sounds like the dancer of Bratfisch (whoever it is) doesn´t need to care about this scene and could also just be there because no one will look at him. And this is definitely not true!
  14. Thank you all for your lovely reviews! Can´t wait to see it in a few hours, your reviews are making me even more excited!
  15. What a night! I was a little bit afraid that after the weekend before with 3 Mayerlings from Friday to Sunday and with the high expectations from the last run with Bonelli/Morera it would end with some disappointments...I shouldn´t have feared! Bonelli and Morera were even better as in the last run and the final act was so fantastic, so disturbing, so emotionally I almost couldn´t breath. I am really not someone who cries at sad endings no matter if its films, books, ballet performances etc...but yesterday I realized suddenly that I had tears in my eyes! Bonelli and Morerea didn´t dance as Rudolph and Mary Vetsera, they were Rudolph and Mary with every breath, every step, every glance! This was definitely the most credible couple I have ever seen live in this Ballet and there is nothing for a long time after this. Wished they would have be filmed, so I have to memorize them forever just in my heart... Mendizabal was wonderful as Elisabeth and Bonelli seemed so desperate to get the love and approval from his mother and she had only the iciest glances for him, so sad! Hikaru Kobayashi had an absolute wonderful last performance and it was so nice to see the love of her colleagues and the audience for her last night. Sadly Maguire was for me the weakest Stephanie I have seen in this run and I am afraid I am not a fan of Dyers Bratfisch...Really loved Stix - Brunell as Mitzi, I thought she was great and very flirty with the officers. By all the praise for Corrales I also want to add praise for the other 3 officers last night, Clarke, Mock and Richardson. In my humble opinion the tavern scene and the whole officer/Rudolph story doesn´t work if there is a weak link or when the officers don´t "work" well together and I thought that these three had a strong connection! A fantastic finish yesterday - now we can have a nice break from Mayerling at the RB for a few years🙂
  16. And here from the Company on Instagram plus also an information about Federico Bonelli: https://www.instagram.com/p/BpkEWH-H84F/?taken-by=royaloperahouse
  17. He is dancing soon the Nutcracker Prince with the Australian Ballet...in exchange with Kevin Jackson, who is coming to London.
  18. Ballett Magdeburg is a really small company with something around 20 dancers and some rotating in the soloists/principals roles. So I say she hasn´t completely "forget" how to feel in a corps again.
  19. Okay, this explanation makes actually sense! Now I need a logical reason why once I wasn´t allowed to take a pillow in an audience room - they said it was of safety reasons because it was "inflammable". I wondered about my clothes and if I should leave them too but it was very chilly at this day so I decided against it😉
  20. Sophoife, I am sorry that you had this this horrible experience and even worse, that no one went to help you! It is devatisting to see how ignorant can people be to obvious helpless persons...It seems to me that the person who abused you is very used to behave like this and a report at the police would have maybe give them something to think. Sometimes too much politeness isn´t really a good thing! By the way I have sometimes sit with leaning forwards (though always when I sat in the last row) because I had then a better angle to watch the stage because other people in front of me were leaning strongly to a side etc...Sometimes it is like a domino effect.
  21. Students from White Lodge have not a place at Upper school safe, they have to audition for it like anyone else as far as I know. By the way when we are talking about loyalto to british dancers: they compete also against concurrence from other british dancers who were not at White Lodge before. In the ballet world it is a very normal way and even in France and Russia this route is more and more popular. At my vocational school in Germany (and not only at mine) we had a few british dancers who went to our school in Germany because they didn´t get a place at a school in Uk or had to leave their school because they didn´t meet the requests (anymore). Not always because of international students but also from other british students. Which caused that other students at my school (mostly german ones) had to go. When I started at the first year we were mostly Germans in class. When we graduated there were only a few left. The students who had to leave the school then went to other schools were they probably replaced other students again and so on. This the circle of (ballet-)life. It is definitely not for everyone and a hard way especialley when we are talking about very young people. But most students learn to live with it and they do deal far better with it as their parents! We could say everybody has to stay and learn in their country and go there to vocational school. But we are talking here about an artform and in no way this scenario is realistic. I have learned so much from my fellow international classmates and also the other way around. Also this way you are prepared for the real work at a company, where you have also work constantly so you can get good roles and promotions, where you have to dance with a lot of different dancers from all around the world.
  22. Nicol Edmonds posted yesterday a pic (he recreated a pose from Infra with William Bracewell) where he confirmed to a follower that he will dance in "Infra". Now we just need to know the other 11 dancers (plus 12 for a probably second cast). Probably we can also assume that William Bracewell will be dancing in Infra too (in Edmonds cast?), though there is no official confirmation. Nicol Edmonds account is public, so even people who are not on Instagram can see his answer in his post. Hope this is okay.
  23. Interesting that there are now so many dancers and even a (little) late joiner. By the way, they also updated Joe Aumeer and put a photo and biography of him on the page - two or three days ago it was still grey and not highlighted.
  24. Thank you balletnut for your wonderful review! I am regular visitor of the Stuttgart ballet company too (though it can be sometimes more difficult to get to Stuttgart due to all the Deutsche Bahn/german train construction sites as to London, haha) and saw them the first time 21 years ago when I was 11. I attended the premiere of this triple bill (13. October). I agree with you that La Bayadere was a real highlight and I am so glad that the company has it now finally in their repertoire - waited years for this and can´t wait now for the full version. Concert for Flute and Harp was restaged three years ago after it was not performed by the company for 25 years. The dancers really love to rehearse and perfome this piece and I am glad that the audience seems to realize this! I am not sure if its currently in the repertoire of other Ballet companies - but I am quite sure that the Nationa Ballet of Canada performed it in the past. By the way Cranko choreographed the ballet kind of as a "occupational therapy" (is this the right word?) for the men of his company since the women were full in rehearsal for Peter Wrights "Giselle". He actually planned it like a mirror to "Giselle" (2 ballerinas to the 2 main men - Albrecht and Hilarion in Giselle and the white costumes) and, as far as I know, it was staged kinda like an intro to Giselle. Maybe this is an explanation to the eventual a little bit odd music choice. And David Moore is absolute wonderful! Everytime I see him I am so glad that Stuttgart saw his brilliant talent and hired him ...I think Cranko would loved him too! Stuttgart was definitely the right choice for him!
  25. Xandra, thank you for this video! I really like her and love how honest she is and that she can laugh about herself!
